I dont even...
Since 75 BLU has received...
What must be over 40+ spells, some absolutely fantastic ones.
We've received the ability to equip around 14 new job traits~ some being hugely powerful like Triple/Double Attack and DW 3.
We got a pretty powerful new JA in Efflux, and Unbridled Learning
We got 10 new set points, right?
I think BLU is stronger than its ever been about now. Sure I won't say no to SE giving it more, but it's really had its fair share of attention.
Blue Mage has improved immensely with every update from 75 to 99, even though it only gained one job ability and some spells. It's right up there with Scholar and Dragoon in terms of recent improvements.
Everything came in the form of new spells and new traits from those spells, so the change was subtle and happened over 24 levels, but Blue Mage is in a much better place now than ever. The new traits are probably the most important part. Natural Dual Wield III and Triple Attack alone have worked wonders for the job.
This thread is like a millionaire saying "WTF! Why am I sooo pooooooor!?"

GET OUT OF HERE!
Blue Mage has been given the single largest increase in relative power in FFXI history (outside of the 2hander update). Cry less.
Lemme guess, you're a full AF3 BLU with mp sticks?
Probably TPs in full teal, main handing tyrfing.
That said, OP is complaining over a job that has gotten the biggest increase in power over a lot of jobs in the course from 75 to 99. Addressing a complaint respectfully such as the lack spell sets and/or wait time reduction is one thing, Bitching is entirely different.
So quit bitching.
other jobs are getting nerfed, fix blu mage nowww
Yes most blus may want more setp points and ability to set more than 20 spells but it usually boils down to Procs. I would rather see SE change it so we dont have 3-6 procs of every element for VW before adjustin how many spells we can use. Blu is already super strong for a hybrid job and giving us the ability to set more spells would really unbalance the job since more spells= more traits.
Honestly, not much is being done about anything, nor will there be much of a radical change from here on out, so shut up, enjoy it, or quit at this point. I'm almost at the quit point.
Just saying, but with the recent job adjustments, you're prolly better off not asking for anything....
a troll is a troll is a troll.
this thread makes me want to cry. if SE gives blu more points to equip more spells, they will probably nerf something in return. blu is powerful enough and extremely flexible. always has been. it is one of the most flexible jobs in the entire game, if not the most flexible. please think before you make a thread. guess that is too much to ask though lol
That's because SE doesn't see them as nerfs, it sees them as 'balance adjustments'.
Other than slightly more set points or slots, not sure what Blu could possibly be missing. We had sucky WS, now we don't. The spells we had at 75 weren't awful, but they aren't comparable to the powerhouse ones we have now. Our magical spells are better, we have better sleep, self refresh, true haste, and better traits that make it so we can be something other than /nin and still maintain DWIII.
Honestly, other than a few minor things there isn't really much wrong with blu...it is in a decent spot with only a few pitfalls.
this idiot who made the thread is probably new and doesnt even have all the spells and leeched it all the way up naked and never bothered to look anything up about it
I think blu needs higher eva/parry maybe some long duration on buffs.
The only broken thing with BLU is that some of its potentially badass spells are, well...broken. As in they (hopefully) don't work as intended. See Proth's bug submission at http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...cy-%28Still%29
I'm praying that Tourbillion isn't "working as intended".
Our evasion's more than high enough. As for parry, eh, can't say since I'm still sitting at 250 Skill.
I wouldn't mind seeing more multi-enfeeble spells though. Auroral Drape worked well.
well personally (and i put this in the never going to happen stack) i wouldn't mind se taking the time to adjust are older magical spells (and make some of the spells that dont sound like breath attacks into true nukes hip press ext), unerfing breath attacks in the same stack. An ability to let stuff like berserk and brd songs effect blu attack would be nice too(not going to happen tho)
Now for more likely things there going to do, dropping diffusion to 5 mins with each merit upping duration of buffs (not sure how this will work with buffs that deteriorate tho) and as was said earlier raising the duration of some buffs would also like to see there casting time lowered(looking at you tusk barrier) if duration cant be extended.
Yeah the breath spells need to be unnerfed especially since most are fairly costly and slow to cast. Longer durations on the enfebs/ buff. Though i think we could use a way to see what enfebs are active on the mobs. We could also use nm spell ability on a duration timer instead of just 1 spell per use.
yea guess i should have added to my list seeing all effects that land on spells aka "
Kon cast headbutt
Ballue takes 50 dmg
additional effect: stun
Honestly, the only thing I would like see adjusted is the amount of potential spells needed to proc weakness in Voidwatch. BLU is a versatile job in Voidwatch, but it is simply the worst job to trigger weakness on. Even if you have a spell build that gives some space for required spells needed for procing weakness, there's no way around having to wait 60 seconds until you can use your spells again.
SE, what exactly is your justification for having 32 spells needed for Blue Mage to proc Magical Weakness in Voidwatch? The most that could be asked for is to bring it down to at least 16 total spells. Or, if this is not an option, reduce the cooldown on spell swapping to 30 seconds.
The justification is "Bring More Blue Mages."
The people say no.
This, without doubt. Logwatch is perhaps the most annoying even a BLU can go to because the shear number of possible procs. Even if you were to clear your set points of everything except for procs you can still only set half of of them for BLU. And since (for whatever ungodly reason) people don't think of getting 2 BLU, that leaves just one BLU to cover them all. Considering how fast people burn through LWNM that's nearly impossible.
Addressing that and the issues with Unbridled Learning (and the spells that need it to be used), some self-buffs, and adjustment of most of BLU magic would be welcome. Other than that the OP is a whining loser who shouldn't be a BLU if they can't recongnize just how good BLU has it.
I honestly, don't want more people to play BLU, as a matter of fact, I want less people to play BLU, because back in the day you had to be dedicated and down right loved BLU to actually main job it or play it seriously at all. Now there are plenty of BLU's that only have headbutt and sandspin and.... you shouldn't exist. That or the BLU's that full time +2 Mavi.... you disgust me as well. I want just a mass exodus of players that eliminates the noobs that are destroying this job and want more to a job that dances the line of possibility for god mode...
I am still wondering why there are some accuracy problems for some of the spell's additional effects and what augmented Relic +2 pants are supposed to do.
Spell wise, I wonder if some of the mp/recast/set points will be adjusted for some of the older spells. With the current way to defeat enemies, magical and breath spells are becoming obsolete.
I agree, whole heartedly.
Any smuck can run around and call themselves BLU. To call themselves an Imperial Mage or an Immortal? Takes style and determination.Quote:

Dear SE:
Please give BLU a hat with whistles on it.
Thank You,

Azure Lore is so boss now. Can kill Kirin in a matter of seconds with a few skillchains that BLU can pump out, some doing well over 8k skillchain damage.
What year have you been playing this game in? O_O Cuz I would love to be there, the job is a bandwagon job because its necessary for pricing, which is why now a days 45% at the least of BLU's are BLUs for their LS, not out of personal choice and preference. Its a sad age for BLU that we live in honestly, when I have to fight a BLU that wears full +2 and me who macros TP and DD sets, on who plays BLU. hell I don't even like breathing the same air as this filth....
