Wow this is amazing SE, its exactly what DRKs and PLDs needed

2 minutes less on bash recasts!? absolutely amazing

screw additional dark magics or better curing for PLD

and Scythe damage isnt severely lagging behind or anything, and not like even a great sword DRK can come close to a WAR or MNK anyway, none of the matters because we got bash recast shortened!!!!


Protip: If you are going to do updates like this to a job, save yourself the shitstorm and don't update them at all

I was so excited when I saw that we were getting a job update. Then I saw the update and died on the inside. Out of everything they could have improved with PLD, they chose the one thing that isn't even an issue.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions TOO fast. It COULD be the first post. They've updated the threads before with more adjustments in the past. Just saying. ^^ Probably way you're saying it though. :(

I posted my constructive feedback in the appropriate area of the DRK forums for weapon bash.

Now that that is out of the way, I'll be the first to say on behalf of both jobs.


This is bullshit.

If SE is going to adjust shield/weapon bash, I really wish they'd make them into charges like stratagems. That way you can have a few uses while they recharge.

How much time did it take to lower the recast on these abilities? Probably not much all. More stun is always a good thing. Why do people get so upset? What makes you think that because they did this they can not/will not adjust the jobs in other ways?

Because there were no other adjustments on the "list". Granted that on a very, very, very rare occasion, more can be added, this is highly unlikely given the fact that Paladin and Dark Knight are not, in fact, Samurai.

This is the last update to PLD and DRK we'll ever see. True story.

Improvements are always welcomed to existing JAs. It's new JAs that are more or less worthless that people should reserve their rage for. Unless you're SAM then you don't have to worry about anything ever except using your samurai button to call a developer to your side to discuss being awesome and how to improve upon that to awesome +1.

Just give PLD the JA Provoke (with same recast time as WAR) at lv99 so we can sub other jobs.

Why are you still subbing WAR?

At this point in the game, you don't need provoke on PLD.

I'm just not convinced that a small change happening prevents other, perhaps more profound, changes from happening. If you hadn't noticed, they've shifted gears from the "100 updates every 12 months" approach to more frequent, less game-changing tweaks.

What else would you sub? Fencer/Berserk/Warcry/Aggressor/Double Attack/Attack Bonus/Provoke. Pretty good to me. I only usually sub WAR or DNC(Self Erase/Instant Self Cures/Stun/Animated Flourish/Steps/Samba) on my PLD.

PLD/RDM hasn't failed for me yet. Granted I don't do Voidwatch, so I can't and won't comment on subjobs for that.

PLD/WAR is the best way to go because it gives you the highest increase in damage and a provoke.

Anyway the shield bash cooldown is still too long at 3 min given blu and dnc pretty much can spam stun moves.

Why isn't SAM getting Blade Bash recast down to 3 min as well!?

You sub WAR for those, not for Provoke. Provoke is pretty terrible for anything other than recovering after a hate reset, and for that you have other tools, better tools.

Every time I see you complain about how bad DRK is, I just picture the Hitler video, but this time with the subtitles of Hitler saying "I finally finished my Apocalypse! i still think /drk is better than /war for everything listed by Ophannus less Fencer... it gets more atk bonus and you can use stun for hate... not to mention last resort spikes hate more than provoke...

Same hate spike as LR from provoke. DNC gets stun also and can use every 30 seconds and lower the NM's evasion/defense or m.evasion with steps which helps everyone's damage or ability to proc enfeebles, instant self cure for hate on top of native cures is nice as well.

Really.....thats all? Easy paycheck.

what i do not understand is they made 2 pages worth of job adjustments for drg, a job that is perfectly fine, and they give drk/pld not even a quarter of a page of 1 adjustment. i am sick of this word "balance" that they keep throwing around.

Wow... if I'm the boss of the developers, I would question the team that is responsible for PLD / DRK and see if they are slacking off, that JA time reduction is too easy to program/adjust and it's less than 1 person's job... guess those extra developers should be laid off lol... will be totally a cost saving over all!

hell one thing I'd hope to see from weapon bash improvement: increase the damned damage, Shield Bash does a decent amount yet @ 99 weapon Bash for ~25 damage What The Hell

Relax... they are listing job specific changes, wait until the actual update to rage.
For example: if they changed the cure formula so that Cure I-IV give better returns for main job curing (WHM, PLD, RDM and SCH), that would not be reported under Job Adjustments: Paladin.

Good lord, would it kill them to maybe add a job trait for two-handed delay reduction? I mean, I have no problem engaging a mob, going to the bathroom, make a sandwich, write a few letters and come back in time for my second swing (provided I didn't miss the first one -coughloldrk-).

That aside, in all honesty, 5 minute to 3 minute on Shield Bash isn't a BAD adjustment 2 minutes off is by all means going to be helpful, Yes they can do a lot better, and should be doing better, but hey it's a start. PS2/3 XI partitions are being increased so I expect to see more stuff in the future, merit group 3's etc.

Kinda crappy compared to what COR and DRG got but it's progress in the right direction.... I hope.

Desperate Blows.

I mean an actual, permanent trait that is always active, not just contingent on using Last Resort, and preferably something that encompasses ALL jobs that use two-hand weapons. I mean, it's not much to ask since Dual Wield jobs get, what? Like five trait increases to reduce delay? Dual Wield V has a 35% reduction on weapons that already have the one of the lowest delays in the game. But if I want a 25% reduction for DRK only, I have to first merit Desperate Blows, merit the recast on Last Resort and when I start hitting faster and possibly draw more hate, it's only when I have 15-20% (depending on merits) LESS DEF, and I can only use it every 4-5 minutes?

The problem here, I've noticed, is that too many people are in the end-game mindset. The above only applies to players at 75 or higher. So for the first 75 levels, DRKs are bound to swinging every five to six seconds, missing a good third of those, meanwhile NIN gets a reduction at 10, and DNC at 20. SAM gets Hasso at 25 and DRKs and DRGs are still swinging in slow motion.

Paladin has never needed adjustments, so complaining about them not getting anything is hilarious. Look at the other jobs that /actually/ need something. Better curing for PLD? wtf...
