blood weapon needs a duration increase

so i was just fighting a hippogryph and i popped blood weapon, right as i did i got terrorized.... by the time it had worn off i got in one hit which missed then blood weapon wore off....

SE when players say 2hrs are supposed to be broken they mean in a good way.... increase the duration or make a job trait that when blood weapon is used with a 2handed weapon the duration is doubled or something

agreed, BW wearing off so many times before I had a chance to use it has plague me as a drk

agreed though i highly doubt they will modify it, ever since DRK first picked up a KC MK Ridill etc(multi hit) and crushed a mob with multihit SE dmg

Again, make it only usable with 2handers :< Yes i know, BZ is there(and equivalent or better magian scythes) but SELRBW zerging isn't efficient anymore(especially with SE resistance on things that matter).

Can make it DRK's version of Kick Attacks/Triple Attack/Treasure Hunter/Double Attack/Zanshin in that you have a 5% chance to add drain damage to your next attack so if you do a 200 damage swing it does a 200 damage drain(both restores 200 HP to the DRK and deals 200 darkness damage to the target). Obviously wouldn't proc on WS or on undead or things that resist darkness.

I would say have it a little higher than 5%(10% seems a little high for such a good trait, 7.5%?), but yes to everything else

Where do I sign?

Unless SE wants to do something like BW also activates the DRK version of Hundred Fists so we can get more than one or two hits before it wears. Now that I think about it, a BW/Hundred Fists hybrid would just be the best thing ever.

I thought about that and if multi hit's are the problem why not add a hit cap to blood weapon? e.g make it a 5 min ability that wears off after 10 hits.

This would make it better for 2handed weapons (DRK's Main weapons) but still useable on multi hit weapons in a different way, where 2 handers would get a steady drain over the course of the 5 mins, multi hit weapons like the kraken club would get a huge drain in one attack round but waste 8/10 of their hits in 5 seconds.

and they could change the relic +2 enhancement for blood weapon from that useless + 30 seconds or whatever it is to a + 5 hits onto the cap which would be pretty decent.

ô.o 10 hits would last a few seconds for me >.>. A good drk hits much faster than any other 2handded DD(unless they and other people are getting super buffed).

From what I hear, the BW enhancement from the relic+2 armor is only 10 seconds :< 30 seconds might be nice(making it 1min). BUT It's definitely not a very good 2hour anymore(or ever was imo). I personally want to have a straight up 200% Damage bonus(NOT Attack Bonus, straight up damage multiplication, which would be x3 damage at +200%). My justification is that DRK is supposed to be a Warrior's "upgrade". I'm not seeing that. War's 2hour more than doubles their damage(and it's more like x4 in abyssea or greater) so I think this is somewhat reasonable. Our 2hour is something along the lines of Souleater Utility, which is something we don't need.

I have the end all, be all answer to this... Upon activation of Blood Weapon, an additional effect of Dread Spikes activates. No lame math equations or silly calculations with relics (remember that many still aren't even close to that stage). So for 30 seconds, hit or be hit means you win :)

use last resort with full merit desperate blows to attack faster (if possible, have someone haste you or haste yourself depending on your subjob). if you have not tried it yet, full merit desperate blows with any kind of haste is absolutely awesome. also pop souleater and blood weapon and you get mighty strikes with hp drain. if you do this, i promise it is not as useless as you think. however, i do agree that it would be nice if it lasted a little longer. only reason why i gave suggestions is because i doubt they will adjust it at this point. if they do, that is great, if they dont, hopefully my suggestions help. i know they help me :D

That's great for the 75+ crowd, but below that, DRK's are kinda boned. Then again, if a DRK is actually in a situation in which he/she needs to pop BW to begin with, they are either an idiot or have a terrible tank.

souleater/blood weapon still worked well together post 75 back in the day. it was still basically mighty strikes with hp drain. but now what your talking about is kinda out of the picture anyway since no one parties anymore. they are either leeching abyssea or leeching gov pages. dont even get me started on the leeching issue though lol. can you say, "broken game?" lol. but that is just my opinion

Ah yes.... GoV. The only place where a WHM/DRK wearing a Dream Robe in the Crawlers Nest isn't frowned upon.

Basically when used correctly (at 80% haste) it makes DRK an invincible Heavy DD for 30 sec not to mention it'll keep ya hp capped for 3-4 Resolutions which destroys mobs in VW. (u recover 300ish hp a sec in BW/SE so 900hp a tick lol)

now compare it to other 2hrs

vs Mighty strikes : Mighty strike beat alot via DMG but BW beats it in survivabilty
vs Hundred fists : well is mnk has capped haste hundred fist does NOTHING so in any real case Blood weapon is superior.
vs Sams 2hr : It does have ALOT more DMG potential at times but again it does little for survivabilty.

Now i'm not saying it doesn't need a buff cause the low duration does mean there is no room for error and i believe it should be adjusted to not be so harsh on pple that say lag or get unlucky by using jas at wrong time.

If i was to adjust it i'd say make the duration 3 mins BUT make it so that once it's drain 5k Hp it wears off (not counting the overflow)
Meaning it'll keep ya hp capped for all off SE and allow you to spam WS for the full min SE is up ^^.

Or last 1 min and stack with Weapon skills as well ^^.

That adjustment I can agree with. Because, as you said, with just 30seconds there's no room for error. If it were 3min , or even 1min i would love it a lot more.

I don't think it's useless that's not the point of this thread, I think BW is an amazing 2hr with a too short duration, I don't agree with people who want it as a job trait or anything I just think it needs a duration increase.

Like you said there is no room for error, as i stated in my original post I got terrored and by the time it wore off so had BW, no amount of haste (and the fact there is no terror-na) can help me with that. That's why i suggested a hit cap or like you suggested an amount drained cap with a good duration, that would work so much better.

No one is saying it's bad, it's just unlucky at critical times. A duration increase would just be helpful.

we're a DAMAGE DEALING job, survivability is nice and all but if our 2 hour doesn't add to our damage output it's completely useless. With whm's in god mode atm survivability shouldn't be an issue.

blood weapon is not useless if you use it right. and blood weapon drains hp. drain=more damage. and if you combine that with souleater, and hitting for 400-600 dmg then your dealing 800-1200 dmg since you DRAIN hp. and it drains hp even if you have full hp. if you cast the spell drain even when you have full hp, you still drain it. you still deal the damage from the spell. you just dont gain anything from it. it's the same with blood weapon.

unless i misread it you saying the drain from blood weapon add dmgs.

It doesn't if thats what your saying

As an example w/ Blood weapon up

Play x hits for 400 Damage
Addtional effect you drain 400 hp

= 400 DMG

There's no extra damage

yea yea i know i am an idiot lol. but it still works great paired with souleater and last resort (assuming desperate blows is merited)
