So 2012 is the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy as a series.
Will the devs do something special in FFXI for this? I'm really curious.

I want a strong EXP ring with 25 charges!
They may gives us all 25 gil if wikileaks is right, but you must have had an active SE account for 3 months previous and have had no more than 3 /shouts in port jeuno in that time.
It is the 25th anniversary for FINAL FANTASY and it is also the 10th anniversary for FINAL FANTASY XI! The planets have aligned just perfectly! We oughta do something eh? :p
By the way...
What exactly does a "Camate Signal" look like? Give me an idea so I know when it lights up the sky.
A moogle in the sky of course :p
What would be interesting if they allowed you to play FF1 in your moghouse. Have your moogle hand you a handheld and it zooms till it opens up into a big window where you can play the full game and save.
Another idea. This would be funny. For the anniversary you can get a costume as an old Final Fantasy character 2d Sprite. And walk around all flat and jagged and pixeled.
BCNMs with bosses from FFs past? No killer drops, maybe just a level 1 costume from the relevant game. Dissidia did a good job of converting the 2D characters to a 3D environment, maybe steal a skin or two from there?!?
To celebrate, Vanafest should be held in the UK for once!
Or, instead of increasing YOUR xp rate, have something that increases your adventuring fellow's xp rate?
*cough* new expansion *cough*
I don't want to just see a ring to celebrate. This is a major milestone for both Final Fantasy and FFXI. I'd love to see an expansion, or a battle add on or something that really says Final Fantasy.
Plus, it's been a while since there's been new adventures...
Make old FF style combats and dungeons.
Goblins that come in groups of four. Turn the beastman forts into old style dungeons. You advance through, fight enemies in groups at a time, find treasure chests, and defeat the boss at the end.
Have the level cap at something low and no exp loss on death.
Besides all the in-game stuff why not make a super kupopower harddrive for PS2 users to replace their worn out Playstation harddrives, a PS3 version, or make it so multiple accounts can be linked to xbox 360 account? My brother had another character on his xbox that he ended but now he cant link his PS2 character over.
