Awesome, yet surprising it got attention from Sony at all considering it doesn't even play on most of the PS3s out there these days (including mine)
I abhorred that video. Obviously it's meant to be funny, but all it really does is stereotype and dehumanize video game culture.
Do some people like to RP? Sure. They may even RP a romance that actually involves being a black mage or a samurai or what not. Does that actually happen on even a majority of FFXI-related romances though? No way. People are people, whether they meet in a bar or over an MMO.
Congratulations to the OP, of course. I just can't help but feel like all that video does is make fun of you and everyone else out there who's met a spouse or fiance while playing FFXI, and that's a whole lot of people.
Probably not. You're taking a huge assumption out of it. I found the video funny and adored it. Didn't sense a hint of stereotyping. Kevin Butler is awesome too.
It's the PS3 hall of fame... It isn't really meant for anyone who doesn't know anything about the gaming culture to understand without being in it. But either way, congratulations Okeneko!
My mistake if I took it the wrong way, then. I simply cringe when people put extreme emphasis on how "crazy" or "weird" it is when people meet on video games, when it's really no different than meeting in a bar or on a dating website. I know a lot of married couples or engaged couples who met in-game, but it's not like any of their lives revolve around ffxi. They're just regular people who happen to play the same video game.
Stereotyping? Are you serious?
The video is funny and cute, and fans of FF titles will enjoy it, let alone fans of FFXI. Pulling anything more than that from this is thinking way too much on something so lighthearted.
Edit: I see your point but it's still going too far
I'm surprised that Kevin Butler, wait- - that the entire Sony PR department knew enough about the game to make a joke like "Guess we know who wears the Elder Trunks in that relationship".
Cute though, I wish you two the best.
:) congrats again, I'm happy that they made a video for you it's really cute!
mazeltov, nerds~
Yayyyyyyyy OkeOKe :)
...But why would you brag about a lv70 SAM?
Congrats btw.
If anything that video did was make everyone think it was a publicity stunt to an future re-release of FFXI for the PS3.
If it weren't too good to be true I would believe it.
Congratulations Siloeyes and Okeneko and my best wishes for your two.
That was surprisingly well done, Kevin Butler is so awesome.
Also, congratulations!
I thought this was the other marriage that happened where the people cheated on each other. Glad it wasn't.
Congrats, Kevin Butler did a pretty good job with this. Only one he got wrong was the level 95 being a big deal.
But hey, usually it is on MMO's so, I can't blame him.
The video is absolutely fantastic, and grats you two for your marriage, lucky you can :)
But still, maybe I'm just the nerd but after having enjoyed the video fully (once again, it was awesome!) I got brought down to earth again.
Wouldn't it be strange for SE/Sony to drop their PS2 support to FFXI after making an unsual video like this?
Sounds like those who were hoping for PS2 support drop after the poll some time ago will have to see their hopes go in vain...
Or am I the only one thinking that?
Congrats Its amazing that two people can meet on ffxi and get married in real life. Great Story!
Is Siloeyes really level 70, or was that just a joke?
Unfortunately for you guys, you don't get to see the whole "application" that Silo had given to PlayStation. He's been with PlayStation since day one. His story is about how PlayStation influenced his life as a gamer and ultimately led up to us meeting. PlayStation decided to do the video about us, rather than all that. Honestly, I am super excited they made that their focus for the video because we are entering a new and exciting adventure in our lives, as us adventurers do. :p
Thank you for all your support and best wishes. I know there a bunch of couples out there who have had the same experience and I'm glad I got to share my experience with you all as well. ^^
As for his level-I have no idea. That's all them. They asked us for our levels later on after the story was already submitted.
