I dont know if SE will give drks any love, but I made a thread about SE giving away dreadspikes and absorb-attri and it got invaded by every job under the sun, blus, wars, pups, smn, whm, rdm and the list geos on. Oh and lets not forget the guy who tried to compare a whm ability too a drk ability. Its funny that a whm wants to talk about me complaining that pups get dreadspikes when they'll be the first ones to cry if sch or rdm gets cure V, and whms already have cure 6 lol. Anyways would love Drain III, and a Blood weapon trait, or a new ability that absorbs a hit and add the damage to your next melee attack. Drain III and a Blood Weapon job trait is what I would really like.
Believe me Cljader1, I can not express on how much I want our broken job fixed, but the way you went about proclaiming our abilities being ripped off was wrong. Personally attacking a person based on there job listed, or making a wild exaggeration on someones comment. That makes our threads look moronic, and our point does not get across. Urteil, along with myself and others have been fighting for months for SE to makes changes that, for some odd reason go unheard. We have tried civil threads, bashing threads, and even screaming threads about how broken our job is. The ridiculous recast timers, horrible 2 hour, lolSD, and our job being based around 2 weapons and a subjob. I'm infuriated to say the least.
We sacrifice so much, to gain so little in return. We ask for the general direction our job is going, we go unheard. We ask for real spells, our own version of a dark based nuke and were left ignored. Were a hybrid mess, shifting between a mediocre damage dealer and a black mage who's best spell is blizzard III.
Were all tired of it. It really takes playing this job to understand what really needs fixed on it. Its getting to the point to where some of us are going to quit over it. Its simple what our job needs to fix it, but SE decided that we are perfectly fine..
I have a lvl 95 apoc and really thats what you need to compete and feel good on drk and it should not be that way. Apoc is probably the best relic in the game and drk's souleater bloodweapon kraken club combo is what SE is probably concerned with, two weapons should not define a job. A relic weapon and a kraken club its pretty ridiculous to think everyone would have access to that nor should they need access to that, if we wanted a weapon to define the entire job we would have played war. The allure to drk for me was the high zerg damage and top tier dark magic thats the whole reason why I whiched from pup to dark. What happened to SE stating they wanted to make us kings of dark magic...will that ever happen?
I don't see anything broken with drk at this time. Needs some minor tweaks but nothing is really wrong with it these days.
The reason why people jumped on your ass so much was it was truthfully..... well a stupid complaint. None of what the PUPs got will have any effect on DRK whatsoever.Quote:

I could really care less what you think or what anyone else thinks I will always speak my opinion, if you read my post I never said what pups got had an effect on drk...what I said was giving pup dreadspikes and absorb-attri was a slap in the face for drks, one should need to play drk too enjoy those spells
Im not going to let a clown detail this thread, but I wish SE would tighten up drk magic side, could you really think of anything more useless than drks elemental nukes? I wonder why they even exist
When you have an Apocalypse you have a BAND-AID the job is not fixed.
All I really want is some useful Dark Magic and some base-line survivability without a relic weapon, which I do own.
Occult Acumen - WTF. Why do we even have this, I'd mostly like magical abilities or spells other than loltier3nukes to make the 5 trait tiers, and AF2 armor I have for this make sense.
Dread Spikes stinks, at least make it last longer than 1 one minute with the 50%/62% hp cap.
Drain and Drain II are on recast timers that are insane for spells that can be resisted, and heal for literally nothing on anything worthwhile.
Absorb-STAT's need to be looked at.
Plague/Terror/Siphon would be nice.
I'd like a real 2hr like Chainspell, and Blood Weapon put on its proper duration of 10-15 minutes.
OR, make blood weapon last two/three minutes instead of the pitiful 30 seconds that it does. And if you for a second think this is OP look at Tabula Rasa, Scholar can solo Shinryuu now on the test server without a brew.

Like I said and please sir try not to take it too hard but it was a stupid rant. Who cares if other jobs can use DRK spells. It has no effect on DRK at all so I don't see the point about complaining about such a pointless thing.
Call me a clown all you want but I enjoy my DRK very much and truthfully DRK's elemental magic side isn't even worth mentioning. The only thing about the magic side of DRK I care about are the Absorb Spells, Sleeps, Drains and Aspirs.Quote:

Anything else is just a waste of time to even consider.

Yeah I have but in all fairness PUP for the longest time took the spot of the loljob because in truth it served next to nothing in terms of end game content. DRK's ability to bring damage to a lot of fights other then zerging these days is a major plus to me and with all the major amount of pointless bitching I've seen, it's no wonder the dev team has ignored this section of the forums.
I'm personally very happy that SE isn't giving in to the crybabys asking for Cure V. WHM for most of the entire of ToAU was put into a position of worthlessness because of the game's balance which was more in favor of people wanting an RDM which at the time was all you needed for most things outside of harder HNMs.Quote:

But all things considered about DRK, I love the job and like I said it needs some minor tweaks one of which I don't think would be too unreasonable is just making Last Resort last the entire duration of the recast timer instead of just having to wait 1 minute before you can get it back up.
And before you go into your head thinking that I don't like my DRK as much as yours, I invested a lot of time into finishing a Calabolg and just recently completed the WoE Scythe as well. The former weapon is painfully easy to get. The latter was more of a headache mainly due to Coins of Birth not wanting to drop. :|
I think it takes being really great at dark knight to become something that other melees can be with very minimal effort. That is what bothers me considering how much SE jacks up other jobs then gives dark the shit abilities most of the time.
DRK really isn't half as bad as you guys make it out to be.
I think this is generally a truth for any job no matter what it is. Maybe you could say those jobs that got "Jacked up" sucked ass to begin with like PUP, *Sorry anyone who loved PUP but it's true. The job sucked royal ass until recently.* but DRK was a pretty solid job from the getgo. I 1st fell in love with the job in early 2005 when I partied with a DRK in Den of Rancor *Oh no memories!* and being blow away but the stupid amount of damage from Spinning Slash.
I know how some of you folks want DRK to be stupid crazy like SAM but it really doesn't need to be. It's a solid job and like I said before, Some minor tweaks to stuff like Last Resort would be awesome.
I can concede that issue. It's more along the line of minor tweaks but I can hope that will all change with whatever the devs have in mind for a new DRK two hour ability. I personally would get a chuckle out of a Hundred Fists version of Scythe and Great Sword but that's just me. lol

It's the "all jobs are different" kind of logic. I know, it sounds odd, but it's true.
Also, can someone please tell me what's wrong with Blood Weapon? I see two people saying that over and over in every thread on every forum, but did I miss something? Did it somehow change from one of the most overpowered JAs in the game, to the point that SE had to introduce special resistance to some mobs just for that one JA? I'm not trolling, I really don't know. Was there a change at some point?
consider BW is only truly Overpowered with Select weapons KC MK BZ Ridill pretty much multihit tools that are Rare/Exclusive or expensive
if you lack any such weapon Blood Weapon lasts ... Maybe 3 scythe swings and if you are using it to regain hp to stay standing it just will not sustain you
side note Blood weapon is also 100% USELESS on UNDEAD
dude people arent happy unless their the best. i have faith that SE will neutralize all DD jobs to the point that it dosent matter what DD you take, theyre all going to put out identical DD digits. the only diffrences will be their survivablity, their enfeebling capabilities, their damage mitigation abilities, and their healing abilities.
compared to 04-05 and the hell that I went through with drk. I'm fairly content with it. Would I like for it to be the best? Of course, but I'm still sure that our time is coming to reign again like back in the good ole days of toau. A proper 5 hitting drk with apoc is really only beaten by war and sam, something that hasn't changed in 4-5 years and now apoc is within anyone's grasp who can abyssea burn bst (if you don't have any friends to help you farm q.q!)
And for all you lazy people there's caladbolg, a fantastic weapon outside of abyssea.
If you guys want to be relevant inside then its back to what i've talked about since I came to these boards. A crit based ws. Outside we're pretty solid, my friend and I tank 90% of VW for our shell as dual apoc drk's, the only mob that I have issues with is friggin uptala since I can't drain him. Taint said it himself, that he tanks most of the time and drain adds greatly to his overall survivability (something that sam and war do not have outside fanatics spam). And lets face it, the only relevant thing outside is VW and it is pretty hot right now. So drk is relevant to a degree.

We do decent damage that's fine, let other jobs have the most deeps.
Something that makes sense with the job trait we have with four useless Tiers would be nice, some darkness enfeebles, or something unique.
Anyone who play's DRK to do the most pure melee damage is a dumbass, and missed the Samurai and Warrior boat.

Been doing testing with SD in Brenner by getting nuked for over half HP.
There is hardly a difference at all, in melee, loltier3nukes, and Drain.

That's not remotely close to what happened. SE gave us SD which is basically useless, and Absorb-Attri which is kinda decent. They haven't posted in here in a long time. Since then they never said they'll fix anything, nor have they ever acknowledged the ton of people asking for a fix. If SE said "hey, we're working on it, calm down", which is what you claim, people would stop making threads and complaining all the time. They never said that, so here we are.
saying they'll fix old 2hrs is a blanket all jobs statement whereas SCH PUP hell even war have gotten recent DEV responses in their own forums
just be patient people, they're deliberate but they are reviewing everything
They gave a blanket statement to all jobs, but we dont have a dialog with SE anywhere close to what pups and sch have. A simple "We'll pass your concern on to the development team" would do wonders for the dark community. I agree with others drk's have not been issued any direct responses in a long time. Heck they don't even response anymore when they move a drk thread.

DRK was fine before abyssea but now Devs are confused on whether we should be melee or casters and honestly we can't be both. As for a fix wont hold my breath.
Drain recast timer reduction, and a darkness nuke and for OA to make sense. Otherwise kindly remove OA and give me Attack Bonus XI.

There is a way SE can fix drk's meleer/mage identity crisis....Created a job ability that allows the drk to melee while casting elemental magic. Duration 3mins, recast 5mins
honestly i get a lot of use out of SD in VW due to aoe spam and the fact that I generally have hate and i'm getting curbstomped by something. It still needs to be fixed (duration mostly)
