Just wondering how people felt about the 95 staffs getting such huge upgrades (+5% DMG) where as the the other elemental weapons got nothing except some DMG +
For Example
Pet Mab staff got no +MAB
Phy dmg -% weapons got no +phy dmg -%
While i can understand the mage staffs are the main content in magian weapons for Mages(excluding SMN :( ) i don't think it's fair that SE added nothing to the weapons except some + DMG when the cost is the same (even +1 pet MAB or -1% Phy dmg would of been an improvement)
Imo it just feels SE rushed the 95 weapons by not even going through the other elemental weapons

Other elemental weapons don't really need much more they're already some of the best choices in slot for dual wielders. MAB staff is the second best nuking staff for avatars in the game only surpassed by Nirvana. PDT weapons are fine as they are/for 2handers they have better options depending on situation.

almost all jobs got nothing of value on the 95 tier of weapons aside from +dmg. longbow was +1 to a base stat, and sword was the same thing. i'd like to suggest that se at least give the elemental path weapons their own color. it'd be nice to see my fire path longbow was actually red, or my mab gun actually a light blue. i'm sure it'd be nice to see the purple of the mages' thunder weapons or even the brown of earth path swords. maybe some of us would start certain paths just to get a weapon in our favorite color.

The stats are very poor on some Weapons and the "price" actually not rly worth any effort. Its sad to see that SE didnt rly focused on the Upgrades and just did a more or less thinking about it, at least it seems this way.
The emp. weapons arnt to bad in choice, i dont think its wrong to get a higher amout of items needed for an upgrade. But same here as on the Magian Weapons, the stats u get in return to our effort are to small. Even u can buy the upgrades, which only drops from Woe or the new Voidwatch Paths Highlv Mobs to which not all people have even access to, its not rly a balance here between the effort and the resualt we get. -

Huh? For some jobs elemental weapons gave them options they didn't have before besides random augments, see Smn and Pet:MAB staff and Bst with Pet: Evasion/PDT axes. Rng could make a PDT bow if they wanted, Sam gets an upgraded Hagun, Nin/Blu/Dnc can get evasion weapons etc., Some trial weapons were the best in slot for some jobs depending on situation.

Str Kila is one of dnc/thf/brd's best offhand weapons, dex if you need accuracy for w/e reason, same for blu/those two other jobs if dual wielding, Eva offhand is a fair choice for dnc/nin, I could go on but even with the minor upgrade they received they're still some of the best weapons for the slot depending on what you use it for.

i think you're missing the point.
str kila at 90 is dmg 43 del 190 str +9 atk +20
str kila at 95 is dmg 45 del 190 str 10 atk +20
and every other elemental path magian weapon recieved 1~2 bas damage and +1 attribute (str/int/vit/agi~etc)
from my understanding, the OP is wishing these weapons were more in line with the magian staves in regards to increase to power, VS their previous levels.
the fact that PET Mab/atk staves gain 2 base dmg to the staff and 1 int/str which doesnt benefit the pet at all says these arent worth upgrading. -

considering you gain less for upgrading a weapon 90 > 95 than you did 85 > 90, yet require 2.5x the items, yes. the reward should be proportionate to the effort required. even if it added 5 attack/Mab/eva it'd be closer to on par. as it is, the other +3's beside the affinity staves arent worth the time/gil of the geodes

i'm going to dissagree with you for bringing AH options into this. quested and ra/ex items should be the best options availble. those RA/ex will only last for a level cap until new better content is released. relic/mythic/emp/magian all fall under the quested title. they require the most effort overall, therefor they should be the strongest option.

Watching your weapon get "upgraded" and not seeing the main chosen enhancement move at all sucks. it's a shame, because it makes me think the devs already consider the reward for my previous work to be too high. i think the stuff like evade, acc, atk didnt get increases because of how magnified dual wielding would be with the benefits. bothers me because i don't get those benefits since i can't dual wield ranged weapons. same frustration goes for people with 2 handed melee weapons.Quote:

Perspective then, I found it disappointing but the elemental weapons I had were already the best in slot so I had no reason not to make them better no matter how minor it was (aside from light and fire I had plenty of geodes).
Except PDT sword cause I don't melee with that one. -

A Macc gun on cor is a waste of time. You wont switch it out for light/dark shot because you'll lose TP, and there's no situation where you should need to fulltime it. I'd put your magian efforts towards the WoE gun. Spam flux 7 now whilst people are still doing it. WoE gun is second best Magian Cor gun after Armageddon. The 10~ Damage you lose on Quick Draw is worth it for access to wildfire. -

I look at it like this: We were given a break by having really great stats sooner than later and now the grinding comes into play if you want to max the stats. That logic doesn't really work for relics or mythics but well those damn things should have been more powerful from the start, even when their age was still new. Their grinding has been cut considerably anyways in the trials.
So really it's just a matter of perspective. You got a weapon. It's best stats that will define the weapon is going to be the final trial you go through. How you get there doesn't really matter, whether the base weapon is the best thing since slice bread or not. Whether you grind from the start or near the end. It just doesn't matter. We should play judge after it's said and done with. No sooner. What you consider unfair might be made right in the next update or three.
This goes without saying but things could have progressed a lot slower than they did. I for one welcome getting nice things early on(so long as you look past all the minor grinding you did to get to the 'nice things' stage.)I suppose there had to be nice things to motivate players to do them, but I never once expected the stat boosts to hold up forever. -

I think the +3 upgrades should have been another 15 geodes. No more than 20. 40 is just excessive for how little the weapons are boosted.
And, if you value your sanity don't go out with the intent to farm geodes. With almost constant weather and a THF helping for a bit, I got 3 in a couple hours. With just day none for the whole game day. I actually have slightly better luck with WoE coins than geodes. Only problem with that is, a WoE weapon doesn't help my pet's PDT or help my own evasion. -

The level 95 trials were done poorly. They just slapped on few points of dmg and +1-2 of a stat. Only ones that good boost really were the staffs and relics/mythics a little.

If the exp is random for you, then you're probably not doing enough regularly to get a decent amount of points. My exp is fairly consistant, and so are my coin drops. I don't want to resort to the old "suck less" thing, but there's probably more you can do for your evaluation. For example if you're smn, dont just stick your pet on it. Go stand in AoE range and take some hits, then cure yourself back to full.

Ok, now back on topic... It is indeed rather frustrating that the stats most of us actually did the weapons for are seeing little to no improvement. For say, Wind based Kila+3: +2 DMG +1 AGI and +2-4 Evasion would have been more palatable than simply +2 DMG and +1 AGI. Either that OR keep the upgrades as-is, but require less geodes.

Outside that having +DMG on defensive weapons (eva/-phy/+mdb) is as much use a parachute in a submarine.
SE should of main geode cost relative or even given +2 to the stats that you wanted.
Guess pet : MAB +12 -> 14 would break the game...
But paying 40 geodes for such a huge boost on the elemental staffs isn't i guess
