Apparently the update is going to happen on September 19th.
It's going to happen on the 19th (this coming Monday). The lack of update notes is somewhat worrisome, and makes me think that ToAU will not be getting the promised re-work this update.
If I remember right I think they said on the 19th.. so 5 days from now. Don't hold me to that date tho.
I'm not sure about a general rework, but they did say they were going to have salvage gear augmented like sky gear sometime soon. I hope it's this update but I'm not holding my breath.
Some comments they made earlier this year were along the lines of, "We're going to re-work RotZ this update, and next version update we're going to re-work ToAU." It looks like it was either mistranslated or hasn't happened.
i hope they dont do it sky style i want strait+1 with static gear my good luck with augments wont last forever.
You guys keep saying the 19th. Can this be confirmed? Link to a post they made or something?
The ex items threads originally had a date, but this one claims it will go live on the 20th so they will have to update prior to that:

The one he's referring to:

In conjunction with the version update scheduled for Sep. 19, 2011, the stackable numbers for the following items have been increased from 12 to 99.
During the maintenance operation to implement this change, the listing of these items in auction houses will be restricted between Sep. 16, 2011 1:00 (PDT) and Sep. 19, 2011 12:00 (PDT). These restrictions will not affect the bidding process or interfere with the removal of items that have already been listed. The ability to check a listed item’s “Sales Status” will also still be possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
i hope this update includes the level cap increase....been waiting for that for a while. would be nice to tag 95 :)
Update notes don't come before the update, except for the small teasers we usually get beforehand. However, I believe there is a post somewhere with the test server contents which is more or less what will be in the update.
The update does include lv95 cap, all of the spells and job abilities previously mentioned in staff posts, the new voidwatch content, the walk of echoes revamp, dreamworld dynamis revamp, maps in dynamis, and random other little stuff.
ah, here we go. Read the threads here for stuff that's supposed to be in the next update.
those are what most people refer to as update notes , and thats also byrths point thats alot less then normal. esp for a "Major" update.
There isn't really "a lot less than normal." there's tons of information in those posts.
Posts with little splash pictures on the official website may be lacking, but since they just link to the forums now, which already has plenty of information, I don't really think it's a big deal. Just my opinion.
It's going down this Monday http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/pol...ews21043.shtml
1:30 downtime what? Thanks test server, I guess?
Looking at this, they're actually giving us what they promised.
I think the length of the update (90 minutes) shows us how little new content this update will contain.
Wouldn't worry, 90 minutes is probably optimistic. Can't remember the last time the servers were actually back up on time following a major update or taken back down an hour later due to game breaking bugs (99,999 cures etc.)
I think the length of the update shows undaunted and undying optimism on the part of SE's staff. "There won't be an extension THIS time, in spite of what has happened nine out of ten times, no sir!"
The time the servers are down has absolutely zero to do with the contents of the update. Both on the server and on the client, its just a software patch. The reason maintenance usually take hours is because of the work they do that is not related to a patch of the game.
Why are people talking as if we don't know what's in the patch anyway? Anyone on the test server will know most of it, and the threads in the testing-in-progress section of the forums cover most of it.
They said it would change once the test server went live. We had been getting updates in the actual forums usually every day (not as much in the last few though)
It looks like they're missing "Daily Reward System" and "Synthesis: Skill cap adjustment," which might have been scrapped thanks to people being 'tards.
Other things that they haven't specifically mentioned but are minor enough that they could throw it in at the last moment:
* New summonable NPC areas (where can we not summon them? Abyssea?)
* Quest reward tweaks
Keep in mind that some of the "adjustments" listed under September in that timeline may have actually happened in August. Losing out on an earth crystal per day in my d-box and people losing a skill cap adjustment for us isn't really that much of a loss. They're hitting all the major points.
Theres probably some details they're keeping hush hush till the servers go down because of possible economical ramifications...stop whining till you get all the notes.
If SE suddenly announced that they were raising the caps on sub-crafts to 80, people would not buy any of the few things that are still T0, for instance. I don't expect to find out about craft limit increases until the day of the patch.
This time, you got it months in advance. You should be happy you found out so soon, instead of complaining that you didn't find out in the week before release!Quote:
because only threads posted in september are stack/delivery item.
we were used to get teaser the 2-3 weeks before VU.
Just because the information wasn't posted yesterday doesn't mean it's not relevant.
