Finish the WotG missions and you will.
Losing your medal or not completely depends on your progress with WotG missions. If you complete the whole storyline you get to keep the highest medal available forever.
Not quite true. You have to finish the nation quests for your nation, not the missions.
Does it have to be YOUR nation? Because that would suck when I'm doing another nations path for atmas...
don't recall if it was required for your specific nation or not (did all three nations myself)....
Here's the details on medals:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Medals
Chart for the missions required to preserve the medals is at the bottom.
No, any of the nations. Allegiance in the past is independent of allegiance in the present. You can do 1, 2, or all three nation quests at the same time. In fact I did all three at the same time and finished them at the same time practically.
The nation quests are just that: quests, not missions. :)
I think you have to be aligned with the nation whose storyline you complete. My kitty finished the Sandy line while aligned to Windy and she still lost her medal.
it's better to do all of them I think. each nation has a really interesting story and some epic cutscenes :3
If you join up with the iron rams (sandoria) then you have to complete the sandorian nation quests.
If you were to then switch over to the Cobra unit (windurst) you'd start losing medals again until you finish the windurst missions. etc.
Depending on which nation you are aligned with determines which set of nation quests you have to complete. For example, Doing Windurst quests will not lock Sandy medals. If you are campaigning for Sandy, you have to complete Sandy's quests to lock medals.
The nation quest you have just completed determines the highest medal you have locked. The wiki is a tiny bit confusing, if you check in the rewards for each quest, that is the medal you have just locked. You still have to earn said medal through campaign battles and such, but it will never be lost once you reach that point.
Simply put, do your aligned nations quests fully through, never worry again. ^^
Slightly off-topic but say you beat WOTG's missions completely with Bastokan allegiance.
If one then wants to do Windurst's QUESTS, do the MISSIONS have to be re-done as well or can you just power through the quests?
Yes, you need to finish your nation's quest line in order to keep medals.
For example, if you are signed under Windurst and complete only Bastok's storyline quests, you will keep losing medals, even tho you've finished WoTG. If you complete Windurst's storyline quests (there are 6 of them, I think?) whilst being allied with Windurst, you keep medals.
You can always switch to nation for which you did storyline quests if it's different from current one. Or, complete all three storyline paths.
Remind me again if you lost anything on swapping nation. I could imagine either AN or medal rank or both.
^ Taken from wiki.Quote:
If you change allegiance to a different nation, you will keep all of your Allied Notes, Campaign Ops Credits, and your current rank. If returning to a nation you had previously been allied to, you must pay 300 Allied Notes and return your two most recently acquired medals.
