Where are we supposed to level 91-95?

With new levels comes the need to fight new mobs that will pose a challenge for players up to level 95 for experience points rewards, but where will all these new mobs come from?

I think we can safely say that new mobs will be distributed in older, non-Abyssea mobs, for those who did not purchase the expanions.

Thus far, each level cap has seen a mini-expansion that provides new areas, new mobs, and additionally, new End-Game content. Abyssea did all of that. At the present time, nothing like this has been announced.

Will Abyssea see adjustments so that people may attain higher levels? Of course, it would be possible to level without adjustments to Abyssea, but I seriously doubt we are supposed to attain new levels on old mobs. There is reason to suspect that Abyssea will see new mobs, as the 2011 roadmap specifically stated there would be "Abyssea Adjustments" in August/September.

I welcome speculation from forum members, and of course, input from community representives.

Nope. You'll have to level on Sand Sweepers forever.

I think the Grounds of Valor update was supposed to cater for people leveling outside Abyssea. But yeah, I don't see majority of the players leveling outside Abyssea lol.

Doesn't bother me any. Can just grab a few shellmates and slaughter pretty much any mob family in any zone. Some jobs I wouldn't even need to party with. Plus there's always Campaign and how a 20m fight is basically 8500+ EXP now.

Oh I know there's other options. I also know there's people who won't level any other way than on bluffalo and sweepers and there's going to be 10+ alliances/parties fighting for mobs.

The same place we level every night, Pinky...

(But srsly, note the Grounds Tomes coming to Rise of the Zilart dungeons.)

As if anyone would level in there. No cruor gain outside of abyssea, man!

Go abyssea. Kill the same mobs as before. Get the same EXP cap as before. Kill FASTER than before. Get MORE exp than before. Questions?

Please, please tell me we don't have to Book Burn 91-95. Here's why:...

Someone 91 is going to want to be leveled synced to, so the 95s don't hurt their direct exp from mobs. That sync will then die, and no one gets exp. And it'd not the 5 people standing around waiting for this guy to get up, it's the 17 people total in the alliance at a stand still waiting for someone to raise this joker.

I know what you're thinking,"Then don't use level syncs?" The will be people who want to do this, they will have leader, and they will not be convinced otherwise.

What makes you think that Abyssea, an area that will cap exp up to 660exp per kill no matter the con of the monster or what kind of monster, will suddenly not be good enough for 91-95? And eventually 96-99?

Of course you're going to keep leveling in Abyssea. OP asks silly questions.

Even if Sandsweepers go down to EP to a 99 (Which I'm positive they won't) they will still give far better EXP than anything else you'll find.

Speaking as someone who got Maat's cap pre-abyssea, stop QQ and suck it up you crybabies.

People can and will use old, reliable exp means they're already familiar with. The point I was making is that with each new cap there's been higher level monsters to fight, or areas that are designed for higher level persons. If there isn't some kind of new area, the established pattern has been broken. Is there some point to getting new levels when there's no content for it?

However, IIRC it takes longer at 90 to get exp up at La Theine back then it did when we were 75 (or 30 in some cases...), hence the need for higher level monsters. And when I say longer, I mean a lot longer. The difference between the exp floor and cap are quite substantial, and take a huge time investment to work up to. I'd rather start with a higher floor on stronger mobs, wouldn't you?--and fight something more challenging than that. Then again, challenge has not been the focal point of FFXI for some time now...

Imagine if they stopped people gaining XP above 90 in Abyssea, in a way I hope they do that cause otherwise everyone will be 95 in a few hours.

You realize, when we get to level 99, there will be no more Ts or above.

I don't think there are any more ITs to a level 90 either, but I could be mistaken.

The level cap is the same for both players and mobs, nothing is above level 99. So, we are going to be stuck at EMs and below at 99.

plenty of mob check VT-IT now. all those mobs they added for GoV ( toramai canal, feiyin at least). they are level up to 97 I think, those pages that give the highest exp. Plus there are other mobs they added in old zones ( for skill up purpose) before the skill up updates. there are VT mobs plenty in [S] zones.

There's no hard cap at 99. This game already has NPCs that are about level 120. I seriously doubt there would be any problems in adding enemies that are above level 99.

As an aside, why in the kitten's tits do people like Bluffalo so well? Just because they're right next to a book? Do they give +10% experience because they're so fat? Because the same people who hate ruby lights hate all other forms of efficiency? I couldn't make a worse thing for 12-ish melee to efficiently wail on than a Paladin that uses AoE Plague if I tried.

I am down with Sandsweepers, though. Meltdown's effects on a horrible group are hilarious to watch from my not-so-secret hiding spot within a Martello.

Who cares, they die in seconds anyway and plague isn't all that bad with all the regain we have.

Not when the other 17 people in the alliance have one atma slot filled with one horrible atma and I'm hiding in the nearest Martello! My thought process regarding pick-up groups is basically "How much cruor and experience can I gain while mostly doing something other than playing FFXI, given the other 5-17 individuals present think of math as witchcraft?"

Mobs in Abyssea do not simply respawn, they are replaced by higher leveled mobs that just appear the same. So something that is EP with eventually build up to VT and something that is DC will build up to be IT. I'd imagine they'd just raise the potential levels of certain mobs.

This is why is you've ever ran through where a PT had left a few minutes before, you will see most of the mobs despawn and repop, they were resetting.

IIRC, someone did some messing around and discovered that the highest level possible was 255, it's just unattainable.

Actually, I said it because I remember this being a question at some fan-fest in the past. I believe the question was something along the lines of "what is the highest level mob in the game", and the answer was that the highest level in the game was somewhere in the lv120 range (they said its exact level but I can't remember it more accurately than that it was between 120 and 130) and was some combat NPC that you didn't actually fight against, but was on "your side". They also gave us the name of the NPC, but I can't remember who it was.

I tried to dig up the transcript, but as you can imagine, searching google for "ffxi max level" and variations of that give me far from the results I'm looking for.

So uh, if someone else remembers this and know where i can go to find this info, please help me out.

They always add new higher level mobs to various areas. But chances are, abyssea areas will still be the best levelup experience.

It would be nice if they added a few more new area's... but i think the ps2 limit's are stopping them. If possible, why won't they just make Vnkerl Inlet, Fort Karugo-Narugo and Grauberg accessible in the present with all those new high level mobs. And make it so the entrances are gated and you have to do a quest to gain access to the areas, so no low lvl or new players could accidentally wonder in their and get royally... well... you know, in ways that no one could ever imagine. lol Since they'd be using the same area's, just a bit updated, wouldn't that require less space?

I exped there a bit on bst and skilled up. Might as well skill up with a chance of getting the ring, I say.

Eh...18 hour straight treasure casket 4 no ring drop. :(

I will probably just put my flag up and go to wherever I get invited to kill mobs with party/alliance.

I hate how it's so random. I know someone in my linkshell that got the Fisher's Torque just by killing one bat otw to the VNM in Outer Horutoto Ruins yet you will read testimonies of people spending 50 hours+ trying to get one.
