Job Modification Ideas

1. Ammo Cost: on my server scorpion arrows are 50k a 12 pack stack and you go through 6-12 stacks per party. this means a barrage with scorpion arrows costs 300 gil. Barrage has a recast time of 5 min. so this is 300 gil every 5 min. This is 12 barrages per hour so cost is 3600 gill per hour just for barrage. Now you add double shot. We are spending close to 20k per hour we play using low damage arrows. Now Demon arrows which are a small step up costs 100k per pack of stacks which then doubles the cost to 40k per hour of play. We cant even use arrows higher then Demon because they cost to much or they are never on the AH.

2.Unlimited Shot: Once we gain access to Double Shot Unlimited Shot becomes useless. This is hard to swallow for many rangers such as myself who stuggled for many years trying not to shoot our special Arrow only to inevitably shoot it and spend a week or two getting enough Conquest points to buy another. Unlimited shot gave us the ability to have one very nice high damage high ACC shot every 3 minutes. This also was great for saving that precious ammo.

Solution: Make Unlimited shot work per shot instead of per arrow. So if we double shoot or even quad shoot we will not use a single arrow for that shot only while unlimited shot is active. Make it stack with barrage this will decrease the ammo we use and allow us to shoot multiple shots and do the damage we desperatly need without costing us an arm and a leg. Make Unlimited shot seperate from double shot this way we can utilize the merits for unlimited shot that we already worked so hard to achieve.

Conclusion: Ranger can keep up with any other job in most any senario, if used properly however, a few minor problems cause many rangers to either come equiped with iron arrows because that is all they can afford or hold back dmg due to enimity problems, or even hold back shots do to lack of available ammo on the AH. I believe the proper use on unlimited shot will fix all of those issues accept the enimity problem. and it seems in the vision post you just create you have ideas for that.

If unlimited shot didn't share double shot's timer and was a stance it would be awesome.

Meh, moot point since Jishnu's, a 3-Hit WS, is RNG's best WS atm.

I can't see using Unlimited Shot over Double Shot in any situation, if they split the timer, it would only be used to gain the new sweet spot enhancement.

Edit: Wildfire also doesn't take into account RATTK/RACC or damage rating of the bullet, so no point using a special ammo on either empryean WS.

If it was a stance it would be free ammo while in the stance. That's what I was getting at. Barrage/ JR with awesome ammo if you can find it.

I dunno if we need a stance. We already kinda have one with Velocity Shot...

I think your missing the point of the post alkaline. the point of the post to to let them know unlimited should stack with barrage it would aleviate alot of problems. BTW the emperian is not the best bow imo the best bow is the condor +2 it has 40% double dmg where the emperian you have to do a ws and trigger aftermath to get that. it has a few less dmg but in the end I have out dmged many ranger trying to do crit atma and dex with emperian and i have condor +2 and str/agi Ratt atma and that is simply using sidewinder.

lol, Condor +2 (Occ. Double Damage version) is not better than Gandiva. Jishnu's Radiance is much stronger than Sidewinder, and even more so in Abyssea. Since you're also not going for crit atmas, Dead Aim is going to be useless for you, but give Gandiva user's 40% more damage on crits and with high crit rates in Abyssea, aftermath will be procing on those crits quite a bit. The only way you could have outparsed a Gandiva RNG is if they were sleeping.

Edit: I think using Unlimited Shot with Barrage shouldn't be changed. But reduce the cooldown to something like 30 seconds so we can abuse the sweet spot enhancement off of it. To me, it doesn't make sense for them to stack.

I kind of have to agree but also disagree with Icerod. In abyssea Gandiva's WS blows away monsters. It literally one shots mobs that aren't NMs. The problem with the aftermath effect though is that it seems to be the same activation rate as other empyreans making it shit for ranger. In 30 seconds it's pretty damn hard to get more than 2-3 shots off considering the how ranged attacks work. Condor +2(yes I have it as well @.@) is crazy outside of abyssea if you have decent ammo/gear to go with it. Either way you are burning through ammo ridiculously fast so it would help to get more recycle or a better version of unlimited shot.

In Abyssea I always set Seadaughter Atma and I usually always have enough TP to WS again before the 30 second aftermath is up.

Outside, I've really only done Limbus with Gandiva, and everything is usually dead in one shot of JR anyways.
