I still have a question about the SE Account transfer

I have read Camate's Q and A post and thanks.:)

However, I am scratching my head still.

IF we have a 3-D secure method of payment already in place, will we still be required to purchase Crysta to pay for our accounts?

according to their faq you will be able to select your 3-D secure card, but I suspect you will have to enter the information for it all over again

Way i read it is you can use 3-D though click and buy to buy it.

Ya this still needs to be cleared up. I know alot of people are still worried about this. An answer before we have to transfer over would be great.

No. 3-D secure payment is not required to obtain crysta, either, so it should be obvious that 3-D secure cards are only needed for some other payment option. An automatically continuous option will be available.

It's not obvious, that's the problem. Let me re-phrase. If we already have a 3-D secure method of payment in place, will that mean we DON'T have to buy Crysta but can continue to pay in the manner we do now.

That's a totally different question from what you asked, and no, you will not be able to pay the same way as usual without a 3D secure card, unless SE will still help you with your card over the phone (I see mixed results as to whether or not they do this now, because the support site says they can, but people have said they tried that and they wouldn't help)

That said, most prepaid cards work with 3D Secure, so if you get one of those (they have them at walmart and some drug and grocery stores), just load it with cash and use that.

their FAQ says non 3D secure cards through click n buy, so I assume they wont be helping to add non 3D secure cards anymore

My OP said nothing about non- secured forms of payment. My question is, if I am paying real money for my account with a 3-D secured debit or credit card now and as I have been since it was required, will I be able to do the same after the transfer to an SE Account.

The answer is yes and no. I actually managed to get through to a very helpful Customer Service Rep. :)

You will be able to use a 3-D secured debit/credit card to pay for your account in Dollars and cents by setting up an account with ClickandBuy OR you can purchase Crysta through ClickandBuy International. So, YES, you can do it either way via ClickandBuy, NO you will not be able to continue to pay for your account with 3-D secured as we have been doing, since PoL is being dropped except to access PoL Viewer.

You still have the option of using Paypal or Gamer cards to purchase/use Crysta of course.

If this is true, then I guess I won't be playing anymore. I refuse to use Click and Buy since I never even heard of it until recently, and have heard nothing about bad things about it, and I won't use Crysta since you can't buy it in the exact ammount of the monthly fees and you have to keep checking to make sure you have enough crysta in your account to pay...unlike how i have it set up now where it's automatically taken from my credit card by SE every month.

My boyfriend and I love FFXI, but I refuse to use payment options that cost me more money or that I'm not comfortable with. It's not worth it.

Also, the previous poster got some of the details wrong, as C&B does not require 3D secure cards.

None of the payment methods cost you more money, and Click & Buy is completely safe (as much as making any payment online can be). It only sucks if you have to deal with their customer service.

Its a real shame you're letting such a small issue stop you. C&B supports automatic payments just as the game already does now, and also you can now use game cards or pay pal, neither of which cost you more money outside of the pocket change that will remain on your account. Are you really going to rail SE for holding 5 cents from each payment hostage? Most of us dont even think about the cents and mentally round it to $13 anyway. If it's "really not worth it," then how can you say you love the game so much?

Think you guy mix up stuff, you don't have to register with those company is "optional", if you have #CC and registred with 3D secure then you can buy crysta dirrectly without have to deal with Click and Buy, Click and Buy is just a third party payment method offered to customer as alternative, that all. Personally i bough my 2,000 Crysta with paypal (was awesome) but hey... i was kinda upset when i found i can't pay the game monthly fee with "Crysta" till 1st August...

Will SE accept only "Crysta" for payment in future, sound like it may come to that... Who know maybe they wan offer service: Charge Crysta per play, let say 1 Crysta per 1h game play.... Who the hell know, but i can see that coming.

From what I've read this will cost me more money, since Click and Buy charges a fee for converting currancy. I also don't like the whole crysta thing since it's not automated. I have 3 accounts I pay for, and making sure I have enough crysta every month to pay for them is going to be a pita. I also haven't found those gamer cards here that ppl have been talking about so I would have to buy it online, and I don't like using my credit card online (probably why I have never heard of Click and Buy before this whole transfer thing).

I do love FFXI, but feeling comfortable with who I give my credit card info to is more important to me than a video game. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Neika, Click and Buy or Playspan is an optional third party company in case your can't register your Credit card as is currently the case for many player that wish to use Visa Gift card, or any card that do not support the 3D security system.

For "Crysta" system i agree it kinda sux because you can only load by 5,10,15,20,25$ and not the specific amount, but we talking here about a big 0.01$ to 4.99$ max, and you don't loose it, the next month you can still use your "crysta" balance. For Fee there no fee if you use paypal via playspan.

I don't think I ever said you absolutely had to use ClickandBuy. It's an option. My question was very specific to the ClickandBuy option. I took the time to call Customer Support to get clarification and posted exactly what was explained to me about this option. If people are uncomfortable with using an unknown entity to pay, there are 2 other options, PayPal and Gamercards. My choice is going to be PayPal after getting the dirty. :)

It has been reported in these Forums, but not verified, that ClickandBuy is not a valid charge with some banks. These banks allegedly refuse payment and flag the accounts with suspicious activity. Result? Trouble with your bank and inability to play FFXI. Again, I repeat that this is un-verified information. Time will tell as people make the switch and choose their payment methods. In the meantime, just be careful when making your choice.

This isn't really true- However, due to C&B being based in europe, not the US, some banks treat it as a foreign transaction. All you have to do is tell your bank that you are making the transactions and everything will be fine and dandy. The same thing would happen if you flew across the world and used your debit card without telling your bank you were going there.

As long as you're responsible, you don't need to be afraid or feel uncomfortable about it. In the extremely unlikely chance something did happen, you can just dispute the charges or whatever and if necessary, have the card reissued- things you should be aware of and prepared to do no matter who you give your information to.

Or you could just get an national bank (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Citibank all comes to mind) and problem solved.

I'm sure that even EU national banks have the highest security for their customers.

Or if you're in North America but not in the US, since all NA players have to pay in US dollars.

If you're from north america but not in the US, you most likely still have a credit card that operates in Dollars.

Oh it does, but not US dollars. It has to convert over to US dollars, which means if I went through click and buy, I would be charged a convertion fee.

Just use game cards or paypal then. Seriously, it's not that much of an inconvenience....

they said in the announcement and the faq they would be adding more ways to pay to the SE account system and a way to add 3D secure cards without click n buy was pretty much guaranteed, if they are gonna force click n buy on us many of us will just leave the game for good, so I really hope that isnt the case


perhaps Camate can clear this up for us, as I would like to be sure too

I actually was going to go the game card route, but there aren't any stores here that sell them. I'm all for them adding new ways to pay for the game, but they shouldn't also take away the payment method people have been using for years if people still want to use it.

I'll just be happy to see billing through the current company become extinct. 6/7 of the last billing cycles they screwed me up by not withdrawing the funds, and left me w/o a content ID each time. Good riddance!

I went to Clickandbuy.com, FFXI is not even listed as one of their games on the MMO page.

that would be because FFXI isnt a Square-Enix Account Game yet
