Gil Suggestions

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing my post =D

Here's my problem with the current way gil is made. I recently started playing again after a few years and making gil seemed easier back in the days, however I want to talk about now and how hard it is without any help.

I have leveled from 1-36 within the past few days througout this time I litterally made no gil what so ever. I was at level 20+ with a bronze weapon. Now some people might say stop what you're doing and go farm, but I honestly dont have the time I did when I was younger to invest in farming.

I would like to see Square Enix fix the income players recieve at lower levels, atleast some type of gil coming in killing monsters with signet on or money in the treasure caskets that drop from dead monsters.

Please help out new players and allow the source of currency in the game to be more sufficiant. I would like to hear from new players and their feedback. I know they are some veterans players that still play this game, but the veteran players are already settled in. This post is mostlys for new players and how they manage with the lack of gil.

You're not really supposed to make much Gil at start. Those levels should be about learning the basic principles of how the job is played. No one should blame you if you can't upgrade the weapon because at this point theirs barely anything low level up for sale anyway.

At that level I'd say the most money is in crystals and vendoring crap like scrolls/equips. Change the mobs you fight for better drops. When I hear "I don't have time" it just translates to "I want to get up high as fast as possible with minimal work"

Instead of leveling for the play time, try farming instead...beehive chips, hare meat, uh what else, Quadavs(vendor fetisch pieces and AH back plates) and goblins to for the scrolls and random equipment they drop.

I thought it was a lot easier to make gil nowadays. You get about 3k from the starter NPC, plus you get gil from the Field Manual pages. But like it was said above, farming beehive chips and such can really help :) On a side note, I think crystals are selling for a lot more right now too.

opening caskets provides npcable goods evoliths go for 700. making gil at low levels is not that bad

i find myself now at days actually trying to skill up my crafting skills to actually make armor for my lower level jobs. tedious task but i'm working at it.

As a returning player on a new server, I'm intimately familiar with the OP's plight. However, I believe you are either exaggerating when you said you "made no gil what so ever" or you did not know what to do.

1. The tutorial NPC (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Tutorial_NPC) gives you 1000 gil for getting to lvl 10
2. The Field Manual offesr gil rewards every vanadiel day for completing the pages
3. Mobs drop stuff you can npc or stick on the AH
4. Crystals. Crystals still sell well on the AH

Although your purse might be tight, you do make gil. Getting level appropriate gear, however, is a little hard after 10 since no one seems to want to craft those any more.

They have gear you can buy from NPC's, but that is where I wish they would change, because the NPC prices go up too high too fast as the levels go up and as a new player you're purse isn't getting better at the same ratio. Although I have found, if you take all the 6 beginning jobs up to 10, then to 20 etc you can actually accumulate the amount of gil needed to buy the armor from the NPC's for the next 10 levels. But that was before the exp doubling. That probably isn't as affective anymore.

Selling stuff on the AH before you get to Jeuno is currently difficult, since those AH are mostly abandoned. Abyssea mostly removed the need for gil, since everything in those zones is bought with cruor, and people only need consumables otherwise (food, ammo, tools, scrolls). Cruor can be converted to gil by buying the Teal/Perle/Aurore armor and selling it to NPCs outside of Abyssea, but someone starting out doesn't have access to that.

I know people with millions of gil that don't have much to spend it on, and I've had trouble breaking 100k lately, with spells I still need going for almost 200k even from NPCs. I'm currently at 7k and have few quests left to provide gil of any note, and am trying to save up cruor to buy some armor for my BLM.

It's easier to make gil at the low levels than it ever was. I just started leveling up BRD recently for fun, and made a lot of gil doing it from selling off synthesis materials, crystals, and the pocket change from FoV.

Heck the pages alone allow lower levels to make more gil then we used too. Just keep doing FoV.

They could unrestrict alot of the repeatable gil quests they killed when they were all RMT Death Trigger happy. The rollanberry quest being one of my favorites they gimped.

Another method would be increasing the buyback rate across the board for items to npcs outside of those abyssea npc food items. Downside is that the economy is going to inflate like crazy with new gil being added into the system.

As kaht said though, the economy isn't that horrible for low lvs. Crystals sell really decently due to there never being any on the ah. FoV is a nice suppliment as well.

I must disagree with some people because the gil you make at low levels is not sufficiant enough. If i want to buy somthing from the AH and its 10-50k but I only made 6k thoughout the past 20 somthing levels then yes I see a problem here. I think I did exaggerate about not making any gil what so ever, but the income I did recieve throughout those levels is very minimal.

This is how I see it, any form of making gil at low level is not enough, someone also mentioned that vendors will sell a weapon for cheap, then the next weapon they sell increase the price by if not tripple then I dunno how much more in value but its alot. I also save crystals for when im doing my missions to trade them in to the npc, and used for crafting so I dont sell my crystals and most items I recieve, I save alot of stuff for crafting, I thought I should mention that in as well.

gil boy to do that ya must make room for item ya get from mob ya level with small money adds up quick expecially when ya leveling up ya job to 90 anyway af great dont need much exp boost are nice rest is all nm ex rare gear in aby at 90 so gil almost obsolete

Don't craft. Your opportunity costs are way too high for that at low levels. Until you can farm/generate regular income to support your crafting, you are throwing needless gil away for not a whole lot of return.

Problem is supply/demand, since abyssea out, there no more reason for crafter to actually synth gear, so they not buying anymore the mats, making NPC your only option to make gil. With abyssea is also at the point where everyone leech naked and no one really care about it. I think i have enough finger to count how many synth that still worth to do, and those still require item that only difficult NM drop. If i was you i would not even worry about gil, you can find about everything better from quest or abyssea, and is free...

I for sure understand the frustration for a new player starting the game and unable to find anything due to the lack of interest from everyone to fight NM in old content. How SE will deal with that one, i have no clue. Think for new player they should just let them start @ lv75 with full pearl/teal set etc, would be just more logical.

I think your problem lies with your methodology. If you only earned 6k in 20 levels then you spent too much time leveling and too little time farming.

Farming sucks, but everyone has to do it. Increasing gil gain of any level would only lead to more inflation and higher prices and you'd be right back where you started. Making gil is stupid easy, just time consuming. The real problem is too few want to invest the time to do obtain it.

I can understand comparisons that gil earning is significantly slower than level earning and you'd be right, now more than ever. However, since we're a player driven economy making gil easier to obtain ultimately accomplishes nothing since prices just adjust to gil flow.

If you're short on gil you'll just have to do what everyone else does and slow your progress in levels and increase your farming time.

Don't worry. Once you get enough money, play the market, and you'll never have to farm again.

I've made millions flipping currency, lol. I haven't had to farm or even flip in years and I still have a large surplus of gil.

I'd buy currency in /shout prices for higher than other people were willing to pay, then I'd go to rolanmart and undercut everyone there.

Look for good deals, buy, and resell at your convenience.

You realy want gil? Build Thf an farm OR raise a choco with max Str an End along with the abilities "Gallop" and "Canter",then race til u get ta the final cup.Then all u do is race the 10k bid race an win.If u win ur prize is 1mil,and u can do this once every 24 hours. Enjoy,hope this helps.

P.S. Its a process,but it pays off well.

ah's will all merge within a few weeks. This should help alleviate the availability of some items.
server merges will also likely help this problem.

Gil is available at low levels in sufficient amounts by all the methods already mentioned in this thread.
Otherwise, you can also NM hunt alot useful gear for low levels.

Gil has always been an issue for people who try to take one job straight up. The fix has always been to take up multiple jobs or farm. You are lucky because when a lot of us first started, you had no gil until you got some items and sold them to NPC's or sold your first stack of crystals :D.

One piece of advice I would give, is to fight the same type of mobs. I tend to, when leveling a low job up, to fight lots of bees and saplings. In Bastok, you can start on Huge Hornets, then Walking Saplings, then Maneating Hornets and then soon out in Konstacht you can kill the Huge Wasps and Wandering Saplings. The bees drop 3 things that will make decent gil right now. Honey, Beehive Chips and Wind Crystals. The Saplings drop Grain Seeds and Vegetable Seeds which will also sell pretty well for people who Garden a lot. I'm not sure what Server you are on, but a stack of grain seeds is going for roughly 8k right now on Unicorn and usually they range between 5k to 12k in the cities. Another plus for fighting the same type of mobs, is it will help alleviate inventory space by not having a ton of different items that you only have 1 or 2 of.

Funny what the backfire is of giving more xp at low levels. Now the starter player is saying, im not receiving enough gil to keep up with gear...

Crystals are going for good prices now and they are not as massively sold on the AH as they used to be. What I would do if I had to start over is buy gear I can use on mutiple jobs (or all jobs would be best, like RSE) and level all the jobs to about 40~50 that you like to play. You can do BCNMs for gil, just make sure you research them and hook up with decent players.

I just think this is a result of increasing the xp outside of abyssea. I think it is a good thing, but they should not do the same with gil imo.

Gotta love it right, leveling too fast now :D I also noticed that you level faster than your skills :( Your skills don't catch up until you get into the teens and maybe even 20's o.O
