Who remembers "POL Guy" and the POL theme song?

With discussion regarding the required upgrade to SE accounts, and the possible removal of POL, I figure I'd bring back a blast from the past.

It's funny, because I remembered the YTMND site before Youtube, and I didn't even go to YTMND when it was like everywhere. That, and the laptop next to the computer I play FFXI typically lives on Youtube.

So yeah, probably more like who remembers YTMND.

I miss that theme and I always wonder why they removed it. I like it

Pol will remain I think, no way they would do as much work as would be required to replace that.

Pol startup will remain, just remove payment via it I suppose.

And I remmeber that pol startup screen I liked it :(

I just hate the current login music, and how changed volume settings don't kick in until after you've logged in. -_-

That reminds me, community reps, is it considered against the ToS to swap out music files from POL/in-game with something else on your PC? >_>;

Wow this music and video must not have lasted that long...I started in 2005 and never saw it until now.

You only really saw it when you performed a clean install of FFXI on the PS2. I never saw it on PC.

It was on PC when I 1st installed back in December of 2003...

I think I saw something about removing that intro around EU release when I started.

I vaguely remembered it from when I first started playing back at NA PC release.

If anyone remembers how much worst the disconnect issues were back then... >.>

Someone doesn't play on the PS2. You hear that tune every time you start up the Viewer there.

Anyway, if you really want to feel old:

You can't hear the whole thing anymore, even on PS2, since it doesn't wait for you to hit a button to start the viewer anymore; But at least you DO get to hear POL Guy.

And yes, I remember knocks but what I really miss is the temp-logout function for FFXI!

I still play on PS2 off and on. that thing annoys the hell out of me...
