RE: [dev1016] Grounds of Valor Adjustments...

Hello, SE devs!

Lately, I've been using the new Grounds of Valor system far more than I'd expected to at first--but there is but one glaring flaw to GoV right now..

... Only single Grounds Tomes, all the way at the entrance.

If there were simply more tomes added into their respective areas; much like how the Fields of Valor's 'Field Manuals' appear up to as many as two or three Field Manuals per area, then this would make use of the Grounds Tomes much more convenient and a tad less of a run all the way back upon repeats.

It would be a big step to perfecting the Grounds of Valor system, and probably pull a few dozen extra heads out of leeching Experience Points from Abyssea for every single Lv30+ job.

Crawler's Nest;
* Grounds Tome II(I-6) Map II(Alternate zoneline to Rolanberry Fields)
* Grounds Tome III(H-8) Map III(Inside of the central chamber where there's a Treasure Chest spawn.). This area formerly housed Exorays before the version update recently.

they said awhile back (right after the update) that they were adding more GoV books. haven't seen any follow-up to that, and todays post probably should have said that was on the menu for the GoV update.

Seconded. Way more Grounds Tomes are needed per zone. Take King Ranperre's Tomb for another example. There are two books, one when you first enter the tomb and one when you exit to Jugner Forest. There is absolutely none in the basement where the higher level enemies are. In the last GoV adjustment, I was expecting more tomes but when I checked the zone last week, there was still only these two tomes. No new tome in the entrance to the basement area, in the cemetary cherry spawn level, or any where at all in the lower level. Pages for high level mobs are horribly inefficient for repeating regimes. Just adjusting the page's objectives is not going to change that.

If more books are not possible, then perhaps relocating the existing ones could be done. In King Ranperre's Tomb, for instance, one could be placed in the main courtyard area rather than in at the entrances and one could be placed somewhere in the basement area. In Crawler's Nest, putting the tome in the first circular room (with the non-aggro lizards and first rolanberry pop nm ???) would be a far better choice than its current location at the beginning of the zone. In open field zones, 2 books at the entrances may be ok but dungeon zones are full of twists and turns, making the run back to a field tome exceedingly long. I like the GoV system but the number of good camps is limited by where the tomes have been placed.

@ Randlt: There is a tome placed at the alternate exit to Rolanberry (by the mid-tier scorps) but it is still way too out of the way to be any use). The locations have to be re-thought for sure.

just to let you know they did add more tomes. one at I-6 on map II of crawlers nest in the last update. but there are still several locations such as Garlaige Citadel that need better placement because of the gates.

That book at I-6 was there when they first implemented GoV. I know because I pretty much toured every GoV zone when it was first implemented. The location is still a horrible choice. The run is simply a waste of time. It seems that the devs simply the tomes at the entrances of the zones when they should have looked at where mobs were actually located and placed the tomes accordingly.

And why don't Grounds Tomes show up on wide scan like Field Manuals?

Instead of adding more tomes, what if they just made it so pages automatically repeat? That way you wouldn't have to go back to the book unless you wanted tabs buffs. Then people could do those pages that are way out and far away from the book instead of only doing pages that have mobs right by the book.
