Sortie - Item Trade

Sortie has been out for over year and we are approaching a year since the release of primes. I think its time to relook at the earring system and enhance it.

Step1: Add Monthly ROEs for +1 Cases.

• Obj1: Open an Aurum Coffer.
• Obj2: Defeat an upstairs boss. (Rotates each month).
• Obj3-6: Defeat 10 NQ mobs. (Rotates each month)
• Obj7-10: Defeat Each Basement boss.

This would give 10 +1 cases a month. +2 earrings have a 5% chance of coming from a +1. This would barely impact the rarity of +2 earrings while also giving fresh incentives for doing Sortie.


Step2: Add an item trade process.

• 10 Sapphries = Emp+2 Upgrade
• 10 Starstones = Emp+3 Upgrade
• 10 NQ Cases = +1 Case
• 10 +1 Cases = +2 Case

The chance of getting a +2 Earring for the job you want is exceptionally rare even by FFXI standards. The chance of getting a perfect stat +2 earring for the job you want is mathematically improbable.

These changes would make farming Sortie more tolerable for the average player and increase activity as people go after the RoEs.

This will also allow players to save Galli for Primes while still slowly upgrading alternate jobs. The average player is getting 40k Galli a run with a competent group.

can also trade rocks for points, like me having 2 full stacks of saphires for nothing...

I've been asking for the stones trading for gallimaufry for the past year but doesn't look like it's going to happen. Ohh, and the ROE you mention? they should be daily, not monthly. For the Aurum coffer (main floor), make that ROEs for all 4 NMs you need to kill, as well. All ROEs should give a decent amount of gallimaufry.

Beating a dead horse here, but they could easily add Emp-1 armor drops to all the bosses.

10% drop upstairs. 100% drop downstairs plus a 10% drop at a second item.

Random drops (lot-able would be ideal)

ex. Boii -1

Boii-1 plus sapphire = Boii+2
Boii+2 + Boii-1 + Starstone = Boii+3

This will allow players to catch up faster as they see fitting, plus allow people to hoard galli for Primes. It will also let people upgrade other jobs while farming their prime and lets groups progress faster to Aminion HQ. (can get stage 4 faster, instead of Emp+3ing a job which sets you back 5-10 days)

I have a dead horse I beat to add:
change what comes from Old Case such that instead of a chance at an upgraded earring, it returns an upgraded case instead. This way normal quality old cases would become capable of returning an earring+2, although it'd still be like winning the lottery rare.

Currently I suspect most normal quality old cases are either dropped to the ground or sold to NPCs. The 90k gallimaufry old case? never get bought.

TLDR: JSE Earrings need a pity system. Devs please!

I have returned from a long, long break. Been trying to run a Sortie every night. Old Cases/JSE Earrings 100% need some sort of Pity system added to them. Between my two characters, and running sortie now for like 3 or 4 months, I have seen one +2 earring (I would estimate I have opened 20-24 +1 cases on each character). OP's idea of adding some Monthly Records of Eminence at more shots at Old Case +1 would be at least a great start.

I was amazed to see there is no NPC to do a trade of like 3 earrings for an earring of your choice. This exists for JSE Capes from Seekers and base Empyrean Feet armor in Abyssea. I am sure there probably is a couple other examples, but these two I know of. There is also the fact the earrings have stat variations to them as well, so even trading 3 for a choice, you still have gambling involved trying to roll max stats on it.
