Any weapon that does alternative damage such as Vampirism, Demersal Degen, or Vampiric Claws has always done the native type during WSs, and should continue to do so.
Different damage types emphasize a use in rotating different jobs in and out of content. Rather than focusing on applying MNK to everything in this case. Since, no one is going to apply PUP to everything even if it did piercing for both.
This idea is is fine for white damage, but poor for weapon skills, and thus shouldn't be implemented for them. If anything giving PUP unique weapons like this and not MNK would be more balanced.
