I'd suggest doing the missions as they were intended, its more fun if that is your primary focus and you can do it with trusts.

The main mission lines except for seekers of audolin and Rhapsodies of Vanadiel do not require any real gear investment. Grind to 99 and you'll be able to do them all no problem When you reach 99 you can get started on seekers and rhapsodies with the item level gear you get with sparks.

I mean, this is hard to do, just because we level a lot faster than we used to. You'll basically have to avoid doing anything else while you do the nation missions of your choice.

Well they said they only want to play for the story, you barely get EXP for doing the storyline, so I don't see how it would be that difficult if you only play for the story.
