Currently the forums will only mark post/threads made between you previous and current login and those made during your current session as unread. This can be problematic if you only manage to read a few threads at a time and want to come back later for the rest. A better solution would be to track the last viewed post in each thread across all login sessions in order to make it easier to keep track of all unread posts.
