We need to talk about Voodoo gear
Im not sure I understand the principle behind the HQ gear of this set.
The odds of making a cursed -1 item are about 8% with full gear and at 11 over the craft.
The odds of then turning it into a HQ 119 cursed item are also about 8%.
Everything Im about to write is assuming eschite ore is dirt cheap and easy to get.
A large amount of hexed gear costs about 1-2 mil to craft across various servers. Assuming supply is fine (it isnt, most of the mats to make the hexed gear isnt on a lot of server's AHs), and assuming prices dont skyrocket as demand shoots up for this, we're looking at an average of 1.5 mil per hexed gear cycle of crafting.
The odds of a T0 synth HQing, using a NQ hexed gear, are about 2.5% with rings and etc.
So the odds of having the mats to make a Hexed gear and then reforge it and HQ are as follows:
8%*8% + 92%*2.5% = about 3% chance at ending up with an HQ 119 hexed item...
Assuming it costs 1.5 mil or so per attempt, after TWENTY-TWO attempts you have a about a 50% chance of still not having a voodoo item.
After FIFTY attempts you have about a 20% chance at no voodoo item still. FIFTY!
At 1.5 mil a shot (Still assuming eschite ore is dirt cheap and theres tonnes on AH), thats 33 million gil for a crafter to have a 50% chance at making an HQ 119 hexed item.
And this has a Set: bonus? What on EARTH do we think the odds of a single player across all the servers actually managing to suit up in FIVE of these pieces of gear?
The odds of 5 pieces of the same hexed set all being HQed in 119 form AND the same player getting there hands on that set are so incredibly low, and the amount of gil that set of five gear is worth more than a relic weapon.
Then it will take easily another 15 million gil on top of all that to mezzotint the full set up to level 15.
I really want to know what the dev's intent behind giving the HQ set of armor a Set: bonus is.
Are they taunting us? Is making this gear supposed to be only for the utmost elite of players, to such a degree maybe 1 player in the whole game will pull off a 5/5 hexed set?
Whats the deal here?
