Costumes
Hi all! :)
There are certainly a lot of nice looking equipment available to wear in this game. However to be at your most efficient you have to mix and match what you wear which doesn't always look great. There are also some very beautiful but weak pieces of clothing that I would love to wear too.
I think it would be nice if we had a costume system.
The costume could be turned on to overwrite the look of the items you are currently wearing and without adjusting stats.
You could select any items that you currently own to be costume pieces.
Personally I would love to go charging into battle wearing my Wedding Dress. It's superficial, but it sure would be fun. ;)

Many MMOs have a "social equipment tab" that does precisely what you're suggesting. It would be nice to have, since I've been using the same sets of equipment for my jobs up to around 30 at least.

This is an interesting idea. While I personally enjoy being able to see at a glance what people are actually wearing, and I've enjoyed watching the colour scheme of Lower Jeuno change over the past two years as AF3 and Abyssea gear came into the picture, I wouldn't necessarily be averse to this sort of thing. (Especially if, in the process, it removed the 'blinking' effect from a character gear swapping mid-fight; an in-system solution to the blinking problem would be phenomenal.)

I play other MMOs and they have exactly this. Costume slots. They can be sold but have no stats on them and you can place it in the costume slot to cover your battle equipment.
Not only that their are hat, necklace etc. slots to.

I really, really don't like this idea, and the costume system always bothered me when I played LotRO. I like that people's appearances reflect their actual equipment, and that you can tell at a glance, as Teakwood said, what gear people are actually using. I understand, however, that I'm in the minority on this issue, so I'm just going to have to hope that it'll be impractical due to ps2 limitations...
-
It might never happen, but we can dream. :)
I didn't realize so many other games had a system like this already. Only other MMO I've played is Perfect World and that's where I saw it.
As a side note, PS2 is really holding back what this game could be capable of. :(

Due PS2 limitations i doubt it, but i would like to see a mithra fighting on a wedding dress ^^, that would be really cute

Or they could add the costume slots that would allow you to run around in full AF or whatever set you like but the stats wouldn't be active. ;)
-
That's what I had in mind. :)
I hope it would be something possible for SE to do.

I'm not a big fan of this suggestion, but it would solve the "blinking problem" - which isn't necessarily a problem to everyone.
