Question to the devs about previous plans

A while ago, it was mentioned (in a dev interview I believe) that once we got our new avatars, we'd be asking "How do we control them"? Obviously, whatever was previously planned for a new avatar(s) didn't get implemented. And I'm sure now that due to changes in the game and the dev team, it never will get implemented. But I'm still curious about this; what were the plans for new avatars before we ended up getting Odin and Alexander?

I'd also like to hear about all the spirit plans. I mean, they were added for a reason, weren't they? What prevented SE from going through and finishing them? Because even a blind man could see that not a single player used spirits due to their 2004 state.

You kinda answered your own question...they said we would be asking how to use them which they were referring to Odin/Alexander. They have done pretty much everything they have stated in a road map with summoners. Unless I'm missing minor things.

Well, either they think we are fools (not able to figure out how to use a 2 hour that relies on > 900 MP) or they were planning something else that they just gave up on. Not to mention they said 2006 that they were working on new avatars that we could keep out longer.

Of course I accept that they might have hired useless translators that missed them saying "We are making new avatars, and working on helping you keep avatars out longer" because we did get Odin and Favors.

Just because they thought we'd ask how to use them doesn't mean they didn't expect us to figure it out. Clearly, the 2hr reset chests in abyssea had SMN in mind. Alex also has explicit uses. Unlike most other jobs, SMN's old abilities grew significantly more powerful with L90. SE did well making our job whole without adding new pets.

That said, Cait and Atomos don't have the same overwhelming power that Odin and Alex do. I can see them becoming traditional avatars.

Ya I agree sorry I'm crabby tonight!

I saw a smn solo the little catapillar NM in vunkerl with a water blob elemental. He kept casting it then kiting as the lellamental cast poison and other magix. Was pretty funny to watch.
