Returning Player on Ragnarok

Hello all! So, I used to play FFXI pretty steadily up until around 5 or so years ago. Got busy with college and only dabbled in the game occasionally. But I'm a couple years out of college now, have a steady job and some free time when I'm home. I've fooled around in a number of MMOs since, but none have captured my attention the way FFXI once did so now I'm interested in checking out the game.

I hear a lot of things have changed over the years and I'm feeling a bit lost already about what I'll be doing when I hop back into the game. If I remember correctly, I left with a whm/smn combo around level 60 or so as my main. Also started leveling up sch as a sub when I came back for a bit around that expansion.

What's the community in the game like nowadays? My character is on Ragnarok, so I'll be heading back there again. The economy? I never got involved in end game before, but I imagine I'll be approaching it at some point. And does anybody know of any good and mature Linkshells for returning players?

Any tips for someone coming back? :P
