Quick Question on Onslaught

I've been making an Onslaught WS set and some of my google searches turned up some sets on FFXIAH that other people have put together. I've noticed that some of these sets have gear like epona's ring, brutal earring, and other gear that enhance double attack (DA). This has left me a little confused because I was under the impression that only multi-hit weapon skills could DA, and onslaught is a one-hit ws (despite having the animation of what looks like a multi-hit). Am I wrong?

Can someone give me the bare facts on what stats I want to put in an Onslaught WS build?

Any physical weaponskill can multi-hit with very few exceptions. Weaponskills cap at 8 hits (so asuran fists is 8 hits natively and will not increase in hits). Double attack adds an extra hit, triple attack adds two, quadruple adds three. A one hit weaponskill also gets an extra hit if the person is dual wielding. Say you are dual wielding, use a one hit weaponskill, and get a double attack proc, it will hit 3 times.

It's worth noting that the fTP multiplier on these extra hits, much like most other multi-hit WS (Merit WSes being the main exception), will always have a value of 1, and will always return exactly 1 TP. By comparison, Onslaught's initial hit has a 2.75 fTP multiplier. A successful DA proc single-wielding therefore improves your WS damage by 36%, a successful TA proc by 72%, and a successful QA proc by 108%.

I've maximized DA / TA / QA for Onslaught and I regularly get 4+ hits.
Onslaught @99 rocks, btw. It could use some extra rocking, though...

I'm pretty sure it can proc on single hit weaponskills, too, so the above needs to be edited.

It doesn't need to be edited, strictly speaking, as it says that DA can proc on any of the regular hits of a multi-hit WS, which is true (again, up to a maximum of 8 attacks per WS). For single-hit WS, DA can simply proc once single-wielding, since the WS is a single-hit attack.

Of course, Dual Wielding, you get an extra chance to proc extra attacks (since you have an extra swing), but it doesn't get any more interesting after that.
