Revitalising Hunts

I just thought of this so it's really basic right now. I've always loved the idea of hunts. The idea of gathering a hunting party together. The idea of actually cooperating at lottery spawned NMs instead of constant competition, which was ill-fitting for this game's themes.

Why doesn't SE create a new quest that involves killing all the NM's in the Hunt Registry? It could be made as a sequel to The Miraculous D.A.L.E quest. The reward would have to be good, though I haven't decided what would be appropriate or if it should be a job specific reward or an "all jobs" reward.

There are a few beneficial things about this idea:

1) It would give many NMs a purpose again (or just give them one in the first place). I was perusing the Hunt Registry page on FFXIclopedia...

and I noticed that I didn't recognize or had forgotten about 1/4 to 1/3 of them. Some were repurposed for Trial of the Magians but what about the rest? There's no way around the fact that Evoliths were a massive failure and so the NMs that pertain to that system are currently collecting dust. This is a quick way to make outdated content relevant.

2) If you want to give people something to do, this is a great way to do it. It would take a fair amount of time to finish. During this content scarce time, this can give a boost to activity, especially in zones that are bereft of players. It'll send people to all corners of the world.

3) This would be progressive goal achievement. It wouldn't be a matter of putting in the effort to camp and kill an NM for no reward. People quickly grow weary of such methods of reward. Actually seeing yourself make progress makes players want to keep advancing in pursuit of that goal because they can actually see their goal approaching. I believe this kind of rewarding is underrated in FFXI currently.

4) This would be a shoutable and cooperative quest. I always thought it very bizarre that this game, which is so heavily based on getting help from/with others, could have such a counter intuitive system as NM camping. We've already seen how far less painful it is when we can simply team up with others and all make progress on goals with Trial of the Magian weapons. That sentiment can be extended to more NMs with this quest.

In addition, for harder NMs in the Hunt Registry, people can shout for help and everyone can get rewarded with progress.


Obviously, it's not an entirely novel idea and it even exists in a small scale already. I'm just asking for the idea to be expanded on. Also, what do you, the players, think would be a sufficient reward for completing this quest?

hmm, no activity on this thread... no comments from SE... why not revitalize the HUNT REGISTRY system? The gear is outdated compared to all the new gear at lvl 99 and accessible via voidwatch... I would be more than interested in giving it try but all the possible gear would be lackluster compared to what's available now via abyssea or voidwatch... so SE please update the HUNT REGISTRY.
