[Concept] New Job ability: Astral Empathy

I was toiling this thought in my mind for a bit, and some may disagree.

The JA:
Astral Empathy
Recast: 10 Mins.
Range: Single Target (Party Members only)
Duration: 3 mins.
Description: Transfers all DMG magical/physical to be sent to currently summoned Avatar. If no avatar is present until one is summoned then DMG is received normally.

I was thinking that the Black Mage's Manawall ability is a Godsent in most cases, but an avatar has no form of provoke, so if you wanted to save someone (or even yourself) you're have to do serious amounts of DDing, which in most cases wouldn't be so hard to do. But this ability wouldn't be too overpowered, because if Avatar and selected target are hit with an AoE Spell - It's the same as if the Avatar got hit twice. It's only a concept, so tell me what you think.

I would rather this job ability be a pet ability; a 5 minute recast; and transfer all summoner enmity to the avatar.

Yeah this would be particularly useful when soloing and your avatar dies just after you used BP rage.
