Why are Goblins the only beastmen in Abyssea?

We got into a lore discussion in our linkshell and no one seemed to know... if Abyssea is supposed to be Vana'diel if the Beastmen won the Crystal War, where are the beast men? o.o

They're not, there are Tonberries and Gigas in Aby as well. If you're trying to say that there aren't enough different types of beast men in Aby than I'd agree with you. However, I don't think that's going to change.

It's not if the Beastmen won the Crystal war. It's "What If" you lost the last battle in CoP

I don't understand how that means that all of a sudden Orcs, Yagudo, and Quadavs would disappear.

I'd have to surmise, they most likely got annihilated in the initial onslaught seeing how most of their strongholds are near the starting cities, or are sealed in the other areas of Abyssea that we can never reach. Out of all the Beastmen, they are the weakest. I mean, Gigas can survive in pretty much any environment. Goblins live and mine underground, but have technology which would have been their saving grace over the Antica which would have thrown themselves like lemmings to the fray to protect their colony. And let's be honest, Tonberries... They're in every FF game for a reason, they're THAT bad ass.

I don't think you need to kill any of those for any magian trials. I think most of the mobs in abyssea were put there to make magian trials easier but that is just a guess on my part. You got to have goblins though it just doesn't feel like ffxi without goblins.

ToAU didn't have goblins every where like other parts of the game.

Actually Lady Lillith's now Alternate timeline in Wings of the Goddess is what happens when we lost the Crystal War. Abyssea is what happens after we lost the fight with Promathia at the end of CoP.
