Fun times with Resolution and Entropy.

A: So far after a short test with maxed skills and attack I've seen Resolution(5/5) compete with Torcleaver from my 85 Caladbolg consistantly against mobs that didn't have giant quantities of defense. Against mamool ja's that were ep and puks that were ep. That we used to exp on at 75 in the staging point. Against pots, and birds, and flytraps. Inside and outside of abyssea I see that without a crit modifier the WS are pretty much on par if the mob is not one with very high defense and damage resistance. Torcleaver pulls ahead against mobs like Chukwa.

B: I found out that the Skillchain alignment of Resolution is Fragmentation/Scission at the moment. Which means this ws pairs even nicely with Drakesbane Dragoons, and Other Fusion based ws.

C: I tried out Entropy. with both 5/5 and 1/5 I think even without the Int mod. It should be noted that Scythes are the strongest weapons in the game. And have the highest damage ratings. Entropy for a Dark Knight is a gift. We don't need to sacrifice anything. It can keep up with Guillotine on TP. It restores our MP when we use it. Oh and If forgot to mention it's a Gravitation/Reverberation WS alignment. So in a 2 part chain, Drks can solo darkness now alone. /sam or some well timed Abs TPs will give you some good chains. Also. I believe Induration to Reverb makes Fragmentation. Which in a 3part chain means we can make both light and Darkness or set up someone else for Light. even better. The WS are good. More so from a Drk standpoint then a war or a bst. But scythe was never really about war and bst for much.

Conclusion: so far I'm happy with what has been added. SE has done right by Drks for both Gsword and Scythe.

It's worth it to have both again. To recover HP and MP from one weapon to have my gsword which is meant for slaughtering the tougher opponents. In the next day or two I think that I'll be testing the nin WS.

The weapons still have a stat mod at level 1- the 17% is included on the first level plus they seem to have a base of 15%- giving them a 100% stat mod. This is what I got from people testing it, unless this has been disproven.

The issue people have is instead of giving them a better WS, they gave them a similar WS with an extra effect. Most people would rather just have more damage instead, because no WS added since the NA release of the game has been better than guillotine.

Aren't skillchains free damage? A so far a Drk can throw out Crossreaper/Entropy and Follow with Catastrophe or quietus. End of mob and lots of extra damage.

Even when used as liberally as possible, skillchains will account for a very small percentage of your damage. But you say that as if only entropy can make skillchains. Entropy doesn't add anything new for DRK other than a new MP recovery tool that doesn't require the monster to have MP to steal.

I guess ultimately Drk needs many a refinement.
I like the ws. I agree it needs to be better. As a Drk I need to maintain my balance of scythe and Gsword. Not be 1 sided.

That's how I feel. I don't want either my Scythe or GS to be better than 1 or the other. I want to have the option of using either and not be ridiculed and still have equal power when using either.
