Why not add incentives to try and make people use the Chocobo circuit areas for Bazaars? (maybe add taxes everywhere but there for a short time)
Really it's the perfect Bazaar zone, can be accessed from any city and is pretty much unused currently. If congestion is that bad in port this seems the perfect fix, shutting off the Auction house there...not so much.
This is a good idea.
But really the best fix for the congestion in Port Jeuno is not shutting down the Auction House. The majority of the congestion is at the Abyssea teleport NPC (at least on Asura), so the obvious solution is to add a 300/tick poison aura to those NPCs. That will make those pesky AFKers think twice about idling in such a busy place!
In case it wasn't obvious enough to you, I am joking about the Port Jeuno "fix".
One big thing that should be made known to relieve congestion:
Start using seacoms. There are seacoms for battlefields and magian and selling items, etc. People tend to stay in port because they believe that is were all the shouting is.
Making an abyssea exp party? Put in seacom. Looking to sell an item? Put it in seacom. Looking to do a mission? Put it in seacom.
There will always be a hub, people like to show off gear, run into friends, hear shouts or just be in a place where everyone else is for a feel of a community. So there will always be one busy zone.
They could make it so that if you are within a certain distance of the NPC inactive for more than 5 mins it won't talk to you again for 5 mins after you move away but I don't think this is the biggest problem really. Honestly I don't think normal player congestion is "that" bad, the problem is all the AFK bazaars moving into the already busiest zone in the game.Quote:

From what I can tell, there's maybe 10 bazaars tops in PJ where people are intentionally AFKing there with bazaar open. But then my server doesn't have 750 bodies in PJ, ever. A tax hit and AH nerf ain't going to solve jack. People want their HP, AH, and Abyssea NPCs in the same zone everyone else hubs at. It's called laziness to the 10th degree.Yeah. They're just gonna jump zones to Ru'lude. Are we only going to have an AH in lower and upper? Well, that wouldn't be the worst thing ever, I guess. A good bit of the congestion I'm sure involves the AH area. And it would ensure everyone uses /yell. EVERYONE. Which might cause worse problems but I don't know. The best thing that would come out of this change would be people complaining that they have to deal with the AH being in different zones from Abyssea NPCs. Those excuses to switch back would be very entertaining and worth it to read.Quote:

PLEASE ADD THE JEUNO BAZAAR TAX BACK.
This will remove at least 50% of the people standing in the zone.
