When I use some spell without selecting any enemy (selecting myself as a target) the graphical effects are normal, but when I'm in a fight it's like they are disabled, the animation it's ok, but there aren't any light effects or something similar. Anyone can help me?

Ok. I'll try explaining the issue on your format.
Details:
When I'm playing the game and I use an ability or spell in the middle of a combat it works OK, but it's like the graphical effects were disabled. For example: If I use Provoke on a target and I'm not engaged in the combat it works OK, but if I have my sword out and use Provoke I can't see any graphical effect from the ability.

Always in the middle of a combat.

Thank you for providing the information we’ve requested. Based on the graphics card you are using, our suggestion is to ensure that you are using the tested drivers for that card. As noted on the Official PlayOnline website, we’ve only tested up to certain cards and drivers. The tested drivers for that card can be found at the URL provided below:

Ok, so I installed the drivers you provided me, but I'm still having the same problem. I don't thing it's a problem of the graphic card, because I can see the graphical effects when I'm out from a combat, I think it may be a problem with the graphics configuration or something like that.
I have exactly the same problem. I'm playing Final Fantasy XI: ultimate collection via Steam and since I started playing two months ago I can't see any effect while attacking with a weapon. I checked the drivers and everything but, as Asura_Daimaoh says, I think it could be something related to the graphics configuration. In my case, when fighting, I can see every game effect (even casting spells) except when using melee attacks! The spell performance is seen (I mean the bubbles when casting white magic, for example), but no spell, attack or technique effect is shown.
What can I do to solve this problem? It's really annoying not fully enjoy the game.
