PUP Automaton Scanner : Walk of Echoes
When fighting against enemies in Walk of Echoes, area-of-effect will usually hit automatons and often deal high damage. Due to this, Puppetmasters are forced to rely on Deus Ex Automata. This however leaves the automaton at 30% HP and 30%MP, triggering the Drain/Aspir deadlock in the 'BLM' automaton (Spiritreaver M-400 Head, Stormwalker Y-700 frame). On the mobs in Conflux #9 in Walk of Echoes, these spells are always highly resisted however. Drain spells absorb almost no HP, and Aspir spells consume more MP then they absorb. This locks the automaton into the Drain/Aspir deadlock, casting nothing BUT those spells.
Using a Scanner attachment will prevent the automaton from entering the Drain/Aspir deadlock, but at the same time prevents it casting any offensive spells such as Thunder V due to the overal high magic evasion of the enemies. And if offensive spells are the only options the automaton has on it's spell list, it simply casts nothing at all (even though a 50% damage nuke is preferred over not casting any nuke).
Note: this automaton behaviour can be found on ANY mob with high magic evasion, except on undead mobs. (Automatons will not cast Drain or Aspir on undead mobs under any circumstance. They will still cast Absorb-INT, but that requires a Dark Maneuver.)

1. Equip Scanner onto Automaton.
2. Deploy Automaton on mentioned mobs
3. Automaton just stands there casting no spells whatsoever until it is killed by aoe (It will not walk into melee either, which happens when it runs out of MP to cast spells, but apparently not when it runs out of spells to cast).
