[Question to Developers] The ever popular Maat's Cap.

I want to first start by thanking the development team as well as the rest of the Final Fantasy XI team for finally starting an official forum where we can come to you formally with topics and discussion.

Unlike the other forums I post in I only plan to really speak directly to staff in hope of gaining insight or understanding from developers themselves.

Anyways to the question:

I have very few prized memories in my FFXI career, of course I never managed my gil well enough to obtain a relic like most, but I got by with what i had. I remember reading the Vana'diel tribune article in 2005 "Hats Off to the Maat Masher" like it was yesterday. After a great deal of time passed and right after the Fan Festival in 2007, I took the plunge and leveled all 20 jobs to 66 and eventually 75, claiming my own Maat's cap.

For quite some time before Wings of the Goddess (Despite other people's ability to Astral Flow burn in Koroloka Tunnel) a Maat's cap was truly something to be proud of. Sure many people loathed in jealousy or would make comments saying "So what?" in passing. But to me i knew i had earned it the hard way and offered my advice to as many as i could after the fact.

Today with the extreme amount of experience points earned in Abyssea-Altep the trend continues to make Maat's Cap completely worthless these days. It offers nearly no statistics viable to any job anymore compared to gear past level 70.

Even the popular Final Fantasy XI Auction House website removed Maat's cap as an achievement relic.

I guess what i want to ask, and at the same time request:
Will the development team be looking to Maat's Cap again at 99?

I only have one personal request as a player who would still be interested in said cap. Make it hard. REALLY hard. Similar to current magian trials where just getting all jobs to 66 and beating Maat would only be just the start of owning Maat's Cap. Make it extremely useful, and not just Stats+. Give it auto-reraise maybe or even a special trait that nothing else even has.

While many people will honestly "lol" at Maat's Cap at this point, not everyone has the pleasure of saying they have all jobs 75 or even 90 as of current. I would love to see this fixed and i really appreciate any time it took to read this.

maat's cap upgrade please, maybe spechal trials to upgrade it, like with each job you have at 90/99 go and fight a maat like figure to improve it, till the point of doing that on all the jobs gives you a nice hat.

in the past maats cap was a good hat to weaponskill in, and still is with some jobs. I still use it on SCH when not nuking with ebullience, mnd for stoneskin macro and so on.

For the jobs that use twilight helm, puts maats cap to shame, I get the idea of progress but, why not have quests to progress the maats cap to be better?

With being LV 90 at all jobs, can make a rematch with maat for 90->95 limit break. And if you beat him again with all jobs @90 then and get something like Maat's Cap +1 or even better Maat's jacket if you win!!!

I don't want to do more trials but rematch would be awesome fun! Find the testimonies on NM's in abyssea!

Why not just hope and pray it an be upgraded in a synth recipe like the rest of the old school gear that's going to be able to next update.

They already stated the new 75 augment synth gear isn't going to be better than af3+2 or anything like that since it will stay at lv 75 to 'preserve balance' or whatever. And with how hard it is to obtain It should be buffed a lot i think!! :(

A new LV 90 version would be a whole heck of a lot better because they can make the best stats for lv 90 plus if it's his jacket that would be awesome to wear!!

There should be Maats Jacket at 95 and Maats pants at 99. Because once you get to 99 you get to wear the pants of the house.
