Questions Regarding Unsubscribing Account

If I want to unsubscribe from FFXI, and 5 years later from now and the game is still going, Can I subscribe back and still have my Character back with all the lvls and stuff I had before? Or do I have to start from lvl1 all over again?

If I come back and find out my character is deleted by SE, I will never ever play the game again, considering I came so far to the game that redoing just won't be worth it for me.

I need to know if I quit and come back 5 years from now, if It would keep my character's levels and everything I had before.
