change "level sync" to "adjust level"

would be nice to see this changed to we dont have to rely on finding another person to drop down levels for exping. there are times i want to solo exp in areas which are too low now and a lot of exp areas in the game are not used anymore, doing this will allow everyone to go exp/farm any place in the game. no need to make any changes from level sync but just to be able to go solo would be nice.

anyway sooner or later when everyone is lv99, who are we going to sync to then?

No.

If this was allowed everyone would self sync to whatever level gave the best exp and do that till Aby levels.

they are doing it anyway with burn parties and level syncing. >.>

I'm sorry but this is a bad idea. Level sync is designed to let you party with your friends at lower levels. It also makes it easier to form parties with a larger range of players at different levels, looking to party.

People take advantage of this by finding/creating a sync character for burns, but that's not the purpose of it. You are supposed to progress through the game (meaning areas, gear, abilities, mobs, etc) as you level up. Experience different zone conditions, monster behaviors, job strategies, party dynamics, etc while you earn EXP. That's what this game is about.

I like soloing here and there too. There are multiple areas suitable for every level range in the game. If you're absolutely in love with EXPing in Valkurm Dunes, party up with a new comer, sync to him/her, and teach them a thing or two while you're at it.

I thought Level Sync was one of the best things that ever happened to FFXI. Before this, putting together a good party that just so happen to have the right jobs and just so happen to have the same level range was a miracle.

What it did mean though was getting someone who was a job you didn't need, who could have gimpy gear and a bad attitude, and you'd just have to put up with them just because they were the level you needed to go to a good camp. Sometimes, there was no one of a good level for one of the good camps. It wouldn't matter if people took advantage of Adjust Level, because they were already doing this to an extent with Level Sync. It didn't break the game at all; it made it worlds better.

I've suggested something like this myself. Sometimes, a camp might be free, and you'd like to take advantage of it. Or, maybe you're working on a Magian Element Weapon, and you can't because you're too high level.

I think you should be able to adjust your own level down to any level you've already previously achieved on that job. It would also help because sometime your level sync "levels out" of a good camp--especially with exp as fast as it is these days. Adjusting your level would prevent this from happening.

Adjusting one's own level wouldn't stop you from exploring new areas; it would enable you to do so.

Level sync is fine without making the game too easy. Plus it could potentially lead to over camped areas, I rather SE concentrate on newer on content or ways to better the game.
