Small suggestion: Adding a Follow button highlighted in a different colour at the top of the thread would be nice. Removing Subscribe to this Thread from the Thread Tools drop down.
You could also potentially add buttons in the thread list to follow that thread. Perhaps have the button a simple plus sign with title attribute saying "Follow".
