Dark Knights, Where Do We Stand?
Dark Knight: Purveyors of pain who can inflict crippling amounts of damage upon enemies while hardly breaking a sweat...at a cost that not many are willing to pay.
The Costs for our "Incredible and crippling" amounts of damage come at a cost to great for anyone to pay. To be frank, were consistently inconsistent at being able to out damage classes that we should, as a Dark, be able to.
To clarify some things before I begin, yes it's true dark knights are formidable damage dealers, were not the best, nor are supposed to be the best. I understand this. The purpose of this thread is to compare the dark's damage to that of another class, not compare all of its strengths/weaknesses.
Dark Vs Ninja
Assuming proper equipment is in play (+2's, emps, etc)
When comparing the Dark to a Ninja for damage wise, it's note worthy to evaluate the classes.
Dark Knight: Damage Dealer / Magic Caster
Ninja : Damage Dealer / Tank
When comparing the two for DOT, a ninja will always and utterly destroy a dark. Assuming proper atma is placed in aby for example, a ninja can hit and crit for almost 200-250 a swing. A dark knight should be able to manage around 250-600 a hit if abilities are used. When comparing the speed of the two, a ninja can hit several times over before a dark can hit once. Sometimes its so bad, a ninja can deal 1000 + damage before a dark can hit 200.
Setting aside a Ninja's high speed for attacking, this seems to almost mock a Dark. Dark's have to rely on abilities that reduce DEF down to nothing to gain a high attack. A ninja will occasionally use berserk, but due to its Utsusemi: Ni, and high evasion, the impact felt of having low DEF is almost none.
Just my simple short and sweet version;
Dark Knight: Slow attack rate, moderate damage, glass warrior.
Ninja: Fast attack rate, good crit rate, high damage, tank, high evasion.
In my honest opinion, we dark's pay to much of a price to make our attacks worthwhile, and still get left in the dust compared to ninjas. I firmly believe amongst other things that a dark needs a major increase in its survivability. Why is it that ninja need not lose major amounts of DEF to gain good attack, but we need to resort to a DEF of a level 60? These are just some of my thoughts.
