Magian Spectacles and Your Adventuring Fellow

I've completed a pair of evasion katanas for my Ninja, and a pair of magic acc swords for my Blue Mage, but I noticed that while doing these trials that while I had my NPC out, I'm unable to use the Magian Spectacles to produce the book. As much as I love my NPC, being unable to check the upcoming weather after a few days of fighting with her (let alone logging out the night before and coming back to that trial the next day) seems to impede the trialing process.

Is there any hope that my Adventuring Fellow and Magian Spectacles will be compatible in the future?
