I like most of the event gear since they look great, much better than 100% of the armor options out there. (The ignorable % that looks good would be DNC AF3 female)
But you rarely wear them since most of the time you are fighting something and need stats. I'd like to see a chance to augment these with a handful of useful stats. Nothing terribly good, but decent.
And since I'm aware a lot of them are level 1, I'd suggest the augment step raises the level requirement to like 75+.
I like this idea but instead of raising the level requirements for the actual armor seeing some of the stuff is just fun to wear and not completely useless at starter levels. What about still making it lvl 1 gear but having any buffs you get on it a latent effect that kicks in at lvl 75? There is other gear that has level specifice (octave club for one) effects, I don't see why this couldn't be done to other gear as well.
In theory you could do it that way. I just don't know how latents in practice works (can you have a bunch of latent bonuses?)
