I dropped unthunder myself, it was fairly effective as well. I forgot enfire even existed. lol

Just completed this today, beat it with 6 seconds to spare and an almost full Party wipe. Garuda came through in the end. I'm glad it was this difficult of a fight as any final limit break should be.
FTFY
porter moogle
+ same account sendable item
= only augmented gear are stuck in your inventory
if you actually play PLD and don't have DT sets you're doing it wrong
Won't argue with this, but it does need to be mentioned that just because you fail doesn't mean you played bad. Fought him a few more times and he can be really random. This is very similar to the RDM Maat fight. It could go smoothly, or Maat could just decide to rip your face off no matter what you do.
Not at this fight yet but will be soon, compared to alexander was at 75 is this fight harder than that?
ark angel paladin (on its own/not in group) is probley the boss i hated most in the game.
Ouchy >.< went in fully ego'd up and buffed as whm, blm, pld, war, rng, and nin. Boy did that smart. Used 3 tails in hopes of living and surviving for pld to two hour. No go. Just figured I'd let you guys know that our group didn't fair too well. We refarming and trying again another night. I was on whm casting cures, stuns, and haste sense I buffed us before going in. Any suggestions? We are thinking of changing out a few jobs for a mnk and smn for next time. Our thoughts were to go in having pld tank nin and war behind him beating the hell outta him. Blm and rng attack while we used tails. We will also be restrat because that plan didn't pan out obviously. My job was to keep pld alive and toss occasional cures to the others but only got two cures off. >.< I feel horrible but dusting off grabbing that horse and trying again tomorrow.
Also I had gone two other times with other groups of people and yeah even on whm still didn't win. Granted no smn in any of the three groups but figured I'd let you all know. Yes I did use barfira.
These setups I've did and won 100%
Setup 1.) PLD,MNK,PUP Set AU to RNG WHMx2 SMN w/ Alex fight took 5mins and 20sec "used item"
Setup 2.) MNKx2 WHM SMN w/ Alex THF, umm one MNK will die! XD 2min "did not use item"
Hope it helps, If ya on Odin and need help look me up I'm game if nothing is going down w/in my shell. ^^b
Ah, the classic Maat fight. I wold of loved it if it was against Degenhart but it's about time SE did something different for the limit-break.
True, so true!
Haven't done it yet cuz I just started the farming part but looking forward to the fun! Oh, congrats incase you made the achievement!
^^*
Wish I could've saw that!
If they did, it would be just as hard or harder. I would have to repeat someone's quote and say, "seperate the boys from the men" and approach final content in a mature way. If i don't have trouble getting pass this, there's not a thing to talk about or memories to cherish for days to come.
ROFL-LMAO!!! (noobs, go back to noob-school and get on the fail boat and go to failsville,lol...quoting Kalo from limit break radio, you guys still rock!)
I beat this fight on my first try with like 4 gimpy 'tards in the party. It's not that hard.
i went 1for1 on the fight yes this seprates the noobs that think anything can be zerged lol. ytakes skill to win buthe isnt that hard we didnt even use KI to win
This joke was much funnier in my head. Still, I must forge ahead.Quote:

This is exactly what abyssea did to people.
This fight wasn't too difficult. It did take out of the box thinking and preparation.
The setup we had was:
BST
BLU
x4 BLMs
Items used:
Two tails
We had the BST sic the pet on the taru. She used a tail on the boss. While the boss ran around, the BLMs nuked it down to 20%. Once it stopped running, the BLU stunned the boss, the BLMs used Enmity Douse, and the BLU used the second tail. Then the BLMs finished off the boss.
Took 2 minutes, 42 seconds. No one was hit other than the BST pet.
So it's hard if you go in with x6 PUP, gotcha.
You don't get anything special for not using the item so why not use it to get past it. Guess what everyone can get one.
People have killed him easily with the rat tail and without. Tail =/= win. I wish people wouldn't think that just because you have six tails you have a surefire win the same way I wish people wouldn't lock certain job spots in. As said before; it can be cleared by any group with some actual thought and preparation. If it's really that bad, maybe wait a few days to a week and collect some better gear? It won't kill you to maybe go out and cap some weapons and collect a few better things then try again with less hassle and headache.
I did :/ but considering the people complaining about it and the 'conditions' they consistently lose in, I can't have nothing but contempt for them. Or pity. Probably pity.
If you're consistently losing this fight without attempting a new strat, a change of setup etc., The problem may not the BC and may lie with you and your group.
Maybe 5 pups + Scholar, have Sch (with good enhancing magic) give you enfire + firestorm, + stoneskin + embrava + ice spikes, use 3 blms pup and 2 whms frame just in case - make sure all automaton have enthunder and you are capped hand to hand, eat attack food. Howling Fist that shitaru and use your rarab tail. That may work - until he starts one shot each pups. You can also switch Sch with a Summoner if you wanna play it safe - and go Enfire Ifrit, Ice Spike Shiva, Fenrir buff, and Perfect Defense.
The tail should give the taru mnk (maat's master, and bb quest npc) the terror effect, not make him run all over. The fights only 10 minutes long, having the mnk run away is a pretty dumb idea for an enfeeblement.
Well all this morning I started restrat the fight and yeah. Lesson learned is all that needs to be said because my strats went right out the freaking window last night. I was trying to go over them with the groups and yeah no go. Why won't people listen to someone who spent sense the update all the way upto that day strat a fight is beyond me at this point. Refarming another bone and fang then going to go level a different job. -.- I am still really disappointed but going off ain't going to do crap to get through to people so just going to go back to working on pup. If any one on my server wants to redo this fun fight I'd be more then willing to go, hell I'd be estatic, but already I've read that for the most part once people got done they aren't touching him again from my server so oh well. Think I'll ask a friend to duo with me to 95 then we will farm our gear, weapon trials, and reskill/ merit out our jobs. (whm/sch & pup/whm or pup/blm or pup/dnc or pup/nin) For the most part me and him been old schooling it so we learn the jobs screw that aby burning nonsense. No offense to aby burners I just believe learning the job makes the difference over burning and not knowing how certain skills work.
Thanks guys for your help in strats by the way. Most of you were really nice. Have fun at 99 and hopefully one day see you all there myself. XD
I found this fight challenging but in a good way in a "Hey you need to analyze and think before you attempt this fight" kind of way.
Personally i think any Seasoned Adventurer will have little trouble overcoming this fight.
Maybe that's why the item you need is called a "Seasoning stone" ( 'v')b
Maybe you're losing because you need more time in the cooking pot? Maybe it's because you're not quiet ready yet.
I want to thank the Dev. team for going back to the way the game should be. I want a challenge, i want to scream
at my screen and say "DUDE WTH... NOOO" because if a game cant challenge you then it is not a game. Abyssea is not a game. Abyssea is the Sandbox of FFXI a tool to let players enjoy the game without the hardcore challenges that the full game provides.
If something like the Limit Break 10 Battle makes players quit then the community is better off without that player.
If you need something to be angry about talk about the so-called "easy-item" that is suppose to make the fight easier.
my team ended up not using it because of what it does.
and that's Cyrusskorrey's two cents.
The rabbit tail is only useful if not relying on melees to do your damage, or if you pop it as a last resort to cure bomb everyone back to full, or let the mages rest. If you're using melees to do damage and you pop a tail, you've lost most of your damage during that time from chasing him around.
If you were relying on PD HF and you use a tail, you've lost.
Also, I'm quite surprised at just how many people are struggling to find this 1337 setup of monks and a PD smn, considering that abyssea means most people have lots of different jobs levelled.
Admittedly, some 95 mnks don't have asuran, as they leeched to cap, then got their LS to get them a Vere, so it was never an issue, and not all smn bothered to get alex yet even though he has been around for a while.
However, I went in for a 2nd run to help a friend and we got 3 mnks, rdm smn and me. I was going to go as thf (you only need 3 mnks to win if they're half-decent) since my mnk isn't well geared, and at 95 only had ~320 H2H skill. It turned out though that 2 mnks were only 91, and the 95 monk didn't have asuran and was all in pink, so I went on mnk too after killing a mob to put me at 96.
My level 91 mnk friend pulled hate from me about half way through the fight as he was much better geared than I was, also I lost some of my HF time because the rdm cast enfeeble right at start and pulled hate as we were about to hit him, so we had to chase him for a couple of seconds.
Anyway, we won with some gimped people so just goes to show that as long as you get an alex smn, any mnks will do for this. Just don't wear your haste gear during HF FFS, unless it's also the best acc gear you have too. (I had 7% haste equipped >.>)
no, that will make the fight way to easy, duobale by any decent DD+DD with 2 tails (since it also remove dmg limit)
remove dmg limit? use at start, let him run( run also if you dont want to be hit), when he stop fight like if you didnt use it but doing a lot more dmg or just use it when he HF
Man with the olde rarab tail my 2 mules won easily with a pickup that included a 91 BLM lol. So 3 BLM, 1 Cor, and 2 Blu completed it in 5 minutes. We used 2 tails and had 1 death the B,LM that didn't use his tail fast enough lol. So really not that bad at all if you get tails even a gimp group can win blms dressed in teal ftw lol.
I agree with the OP that this fight is way too hard. For those that don't want to party with complete strangers or train the only jobs that are acceptable the level cap will stay firmly nailed down at 95.
This fight should be tactical and soloable. Once the rush has died down people will never be able to complete it, or forced to pay mercenary linkshells 1m gil or whatever for a clear.
I fight is a groupl of 4 and will NEVER move outside that. We have now accepted that we will remain at 95 for the forseeable future.
I find it bazaar that SE is simplifying the game in all directions and then throw this in at this late stage.
You can't farm up the items for tails are you that bad? Lol man if my mules can get the win with a group of gimps and just used 2 tails to win its beyond me how anyone can't win the fight lol.
At least its not like COP back in the day now that was level X job just to win the level 30. Most jobs can unlock rng and easily /rng for the win if they have marksmanship or archery leveled but from what i am reading many may not lol.
No melee in a tail strat? Is he for some reason immune to gravity despite being susceptible to like every other debuff?
Honest question, actually; I don't know, because I cleared it friday night after my shell got fed up with waiting for certain people to log on or for an FBone to drop (how many IT+s do I have to solo to show how commited I am to making the LB fight as easy as possible?) and went MNK/MNK/MNK/NIN/NIN/SMN. Many lols were had.
Again, the fight's not inappropriately difficult, but the clock is definitely ticking; shouts for LB groups by Sunday night were (predictably) waaaaay down from where they were Friday.
In a related story, Tachi: Shoha is hilarious.
Tachi: Shoha is hilarious. So is Last Stand. I was unimpressed with Last Stand damage on EPs and in Sea, but taking it to Voidwatch really knocked things out of the part. Pretty consistent 2k+ on Jeuno Part 4 and 5.
