FFXI-3001 error
I'm having the same issues as everybody else, tried logging on a 360, ps3, and a pc. did the port forwarding, reset the router, reset the modem, fresh install on the pc. Nothing works, tethered my pc to my phone to try using a different service to move the characters (characters are stuck in north sandy main isp is comcast, tethered to verizon). after doing all of these tests, the only conclusion i can come up with is that its a SE problem.

I have been having the same problem since the last major update. I have never had this problem before then.

Ok to at least update you on my situation. Today comcast came and added a netgear router to the Dory hybrid. I kindly asked him to stay whilst i tested my issues. My wireless signal to my laptop went from 10mbps yesterday to 34-35mbps wireless today after adding this router. I logged onto FFXI and with him standing there (lol) proceeded to try and enter aby-altepa. This time my character got through just fine. Added note: my IP did not and was not changed today so leading me away from thinking the issue was IP related. Again this is MY experience that i've had.
long story short: Comcast added Netgear router to hybrid modem (DORY) and fixed my 3001 issue and i also get way faster connection now. IP address did not change.
I will be sure to post if i somehow get this issue again but with another zone. It would still be nice though to get some TRUE assistance from SE on this issue.
P.s. If any of you Comcast customers are using just the SMC (DORY) Hybrid........please ask them to come add a router. Even the techs say the DORY is absolute SHIT.

I've been retesting my character every few days. Just tried again and... success! No new modem/router here. Is anyone else still having issues?
If any staff at SE did work to resolve this, thank you very much. It is greatly appreciated!

Have been trying my lock zones the last few days, at different times of day and different server loads, and have been able to enter them again, inexplicably with no changes on my end. I'll post again if they go down again, but it looks like SE may have fixed my issue. Thank you SE staff, if that's the case. My only real wish from this experience would be a little more transparency on the company's end.

Is everyone working now? Did all our ports open on their own? Maybe are files fixed themselves.
-
Well seeing as how the rest of your server(s) are having no problem it's clearly an issue on the player's end. If check files doesn't come with any problems then check files is clearly a crappy method of determining what's wrong. Reinstall everything.

Having the issue now. It started about 48 hours ago. About 24 hours in, it started working, one logout later, back at error 3001. Hopefully we get a permanent fix soon.
