Suggestions: Quality of Life Stuff and other suggestions

Please create a buy-back scheme for unneeded/unwanted sortie rewards (earrings and Ra'Kaznar Sapphires):

1 NQ earring to Ruspix -> 300 Gallimaufry (higher for HQ versions)
1 Ra'Kaznar Sapphire to Ruspix -> 2000 Gallimaufry.

Furthermore, it would be nice if you adjusted the Ruspix price for an old case. 80,000 Gallimaufry would be appropriate if you could pick a specific HQ earring for that (with a chance of HQ2), but it is an absurd price for merely getting an old case, where you have only a 1/22 chance to even get the earring for the job you want, and an astronomically small chance to get an HQ earring for the job you want.

Add the ability to store Ambuscade and Omen items at an npc as a reward for completion of VR.

A lack of inventory space is disabling for players, they will not want to do anything if they have no space.

Alternatively just let us mule them.

XI has no programmers so they had to beg Yoshi to let them borrow the XIV programmers to add extra wardrobes and other features that came with them, so they have to show a profit from it to justify it happening in the future. I get that, but mog wardrobes are about functional equip space for people that main lots of jobs and this is not really that.

Letting us store ambuscade mats is not going to impact mog wardobe buy in.

The stupid part is, if they wanted to make money they would sell mog storage space and not mog wardrobes.

Almost everyone would want to buy those, when only a % need mog wardrobes.

Ambuscade and Omen gear are not funcitonal equipment items? news to me.

If they're not functional, why are you keeping them? They don't even look that cool.

We have tons of non-gear storage space, and plenty of extra spaces like storage slips and event storage for gear, which means you can devote all of the other space to not gear. I've never had an issue with this. Stop hoarding rabbit tails and flan meats.
I did a spring cleaning of my inventory and realized I had a ton of stuff I was probably never going to use that could have been stuffed in storage slips or other systems, tons of blanktip blankdim stones that I was never going to use, food that I was never going to use, seals that I had yet to stuff on Shami, etc. etc.

Im sure you could go through your own space and find 50+ items you don't really need to have handy.

In most cases, I wouldn't buy these items unless I can buy all of them. Why would I keep crap like this in my inventory when I don't need to?

The point still applies reagardles. You need 5 animas for a grip? Do enough ambuscade to buy 5 and then exchange and use them immediately.

Sure if you're doing something that takes a long time like a REMA, you might hold on to some of those plutons or alexandrite or whatever if you're not sure you really want to go through with it. Though personally i turned in everything as I got it, so there was no inventory issues.

If you don't buy/exchange for items until you need them, they don't take up inventory space. If you want to tell me that people lstockpile ambuscade items without the gear they upgrade, okay, fine. Make the ambu NPC able to hold the doodads for you just like Shami, the AF upgrader, etc. Problem solved.

I can tell you that definitely tend to stockpile when I can; I always know I'm going to need another cape for something but I don't always know what job will need it or what function I'll need the cape for. As long as you can only make 2.8 capes per month, getting ahead of your needs makes sense.

The game gives single upgrade items as rewards for total hallmarks, and sometimes people don't earn quite enough points all of the upgrade mats. It would be a waste to throw away up to 9 fibers/metals just because you didn't earn enough points that month.

I was reacting specifically to the "More inventory space" statement.

I'll be frank, I don't think this is a problem. There's usually not a reason to buy the items before you need them. It doesn't take so much ambuscade (unless you're exclusively soloing Normal ambuscade at less than the highest difficulty, perhaps) that you can't wait til you have the necessary points, unless you're trying to do this at the last minute, in which case my advice would be "don't do things at the last minute."

They could put storage on an NPC like we said, but given that I don't really think it's necessary, i'd rather see those limited dev resources go towards other things.

FFXI is unlike most other mmorpgs, gear has more situational uses, the cosmetic and furnishing system eats inventory and gear also has major sentimental value.

I can never get rid of my all jobs refresh subligar, cause sometimes I'm rocking /whm when messing about.
I can never get rid of my optical hat, sky or king gear, since it has major sentimental value to me.
I can save 80 spaces from furnishings, but I enjoy having a decorated mog house.
I can mule all my cosmetic sets, but I enjoy making and swapping between those cosmetic armor sets.

Every mmorpg I've ever played, gear was worthless when a better set came out. The moment I got something better I threw the previous, XI is different.

They can't keep increasing inventory space because the game has R/E checks and other things, they can however let us mule more materials at a bare minimum. We should be able to mule ambuscade and omen upgrade stuff (which is also paid storage btw)

If it has "sentimental value" then you put it in storage instead of throwing it away. That's why we have the event storage NPC for event items, etc.
But my ire is mainly for people who keep and carry every little thing, like random monster drops "I might craft with it later!" (they won't), stuff that can be stored on NPCs, buyable gear that's easily reobtainable in the unlikely event they actually need/want it again, etc.

I have like at least 150~ storage spaces free across all on-character systems, and I could probably free at least 20-30 more from stuff that can be stored that I just haven't gotten around to storing, or discarded because I'm really never going to use it- stuff like cards and jewels from abyssea for jobs I don't play.

I had a Blau Dolch I was sentimental about once. I got rid of it when I realized I was being foolish holding on to something for a decade I would never use again. Game doesn't need to a accommodate our momentos. It only needs to accommodate holding the items we intend to use.

The reason something has sentimental value and you want to keep it on your character is becasue when looking for something you sometimes flip past it, and there is a moment of reminiscence (that you can skip past cause you're busy or fixate on for a bit if you're not). It's like someone that has a large book of photographs in a cupboard they bring out once a year (storing all your things on alts), compared to someone that takes a picture from that album and puts it on the table near the kitchen door. When I flip past my BLM Relic hat I am reminded of so many friends from my first Dyna LS and the simple action of seeing it in my inventory can trigger a wave of memories about them and that time (it's also a cool cosmetic too) that would never normally happen because modern living keeps our brains fixated on nonsense from youtube or social media etc.

I've played lots of mmorpgs, XI is the only one where items have sentimental value like this.

Anyway the point is that Omen and Ambuscade materials should be allowed to be sent to alts, even if you don't like the reasons listed there is no reason to not agree with that being allowed when it's so easy to change. Omen is especially disgraceful with the scales etc

False correlation. You're sentemential about items in this game because you've played it the most. If you played those other MMORPGs as long as you've played FFXI, it's a virtual guarantee you'd feel the same way about certain items in those other games.

I have lots of stuff with sentimental value in FFXIV, particularly legacy stuff that no one else can obtain anymore. That is owed to me having played the game way back when when trash was not the most unkind word you could use to describe it. And obviously it's far better now than it was then.

Allow players to get a sendable item to bypass level cap quests if they have already done them on their main.

One of the biggest annoyances for me leveling new characters on the same account is some of the level cap quests, I hate them. If I could talk to Maat on my main and get an item I can send to my alt to bypass them, I would have twice as many level 99 alts right now.

Same request but better:

Add "automatic limit break completion" campaign(s) yearly. During that two weeks limit breaks are completed automatically. You still have to start them at the respective npc. You just skip the pointless quest.

Has anyone brought up Aquaveil and Blink yet? I couldn't find it trying to search this thread and board, but... it would be super, super nice to have those work the same way Utsusemi shadows do - little counter over the icon, showing you how many more times it's good for and when exactly you've lost one.

Blink is kind of countable, I guess, if you know the exact number of shadows you started with, but with larger numbers like you get from Occultation, that's a bit cumbersome. Aquaveil, though? You just never know. Nothing ever actually tells you when you've used up a layer of Aquaveil. You just have to guess, and hope, and recast early just in case. That's not a great user experience.

Same account upgrades is a great thing for the game (sending items to skip some things), encouraging people to level other characters on that account is win.

When they let you send reisenjima gear to same account characters I leveled 20 characters to 99, purely for dark matter campaigns. Only reason I don't do more, is 1-2 level cap quests are a huge pain.

I don't really think alts on the same account being able to skip stuff really hurts anything. You can't play those characters at the same time, so there's no real advantage gained.

Most people use additional accounts for characters they intend to actually use, and those wouldn't be able to do this. other characters on the same account are usually just mules.

Hell that's what usually happens to me already even if I can get a big thud in the first place.

The thing is, you can already do this anyway, the limit breaks are just an inconvenience.

No, they wouldn't.

SE should just get rid of the mimic in the AMAN trove. No one fights it, it just adds an element of frustration, that you won't even get the scraps from the table drops that you would have gotten with almost certainty even if you had avoided the mimic.

Given the scarcity of orbs, and the rarity of loud thuds, and the low probability of getting anything truly valuable even from a loud thud, it would not break the game to let everyone get some guaranteed omen cards, dynamis shards, and a few capacity points, or even a modest amount of gil, from each orb.

Just replace the mimic by another chest that has a chance of noise, thud or loud thud. Everyone would be happier.

SE has a history of taking a dump on anything t hat players can even remotely exploit. Sparks/accolades cap anyone? And thoughout the game's history they've tanked NPC values of anything people farmed to vendor for gil. Insisting that every attempted method of beating aboslute virtue back in the day was deemed not the correct method.

It is possible but I can tell you from my own personal experience I have not taken several mules with already hundreds of vouchers, and thus free orbs, to L99 specifically because of this inconvenience.

And you know sometimes that may be enough, othertimes it may not be. I can tell you even though i'd spoken out against them in the past- this was before data center visit was a thing in FFXIV, but I bought a job potion for an alt in FFXIV so I could PvP with a friend on a different datacenter without having to level all the way up to a higher level to unlock the job. Most people framed these "jump" or skip "potions" as something that would be used by noobs with a lot of money and end up in hard content without knowing how to play their job, thus harming other's experience. I'm sure that has happened before, but the vast majority of these were bought by people who have already done the story or leveled a given job before and don't want to repeat it on an alt. And for these use cases I generally think it's fine (Though i sort of regretted it after data center visit was announced as what I needed it for was somewhat rendered unnecessary by it).

That's why I don't have that much of a problem with the idea here. Such options are mostly used by veterans and NOT new players (even though they can) and FFXI today is mostly veterans anyway. In fairness though, FFXI probably has more reasons to make alts than FFXIV does, given FFXI has a lot of things like the gobbie box and AMAN trove and stuff where having more characters that can do those things is beneficial (Though this is part of the reason the initial use of the gobbie box is time gated I guess) In FFXIV there's comparatively less to gain aside from the time save of not doing the story/leveling the job.

You're not supposed to kill it, it's a "you lose" scenario. It's a gambling mini game, you can go in and pick gold and leave with 0 risk or you can gamble.

I like the option to fight the mimic. Never have, but have theorycrafted with linkshell members on how we might pull it off, plenty of times. The thing is, why? So you can keep your noise and thud chests?

The better answer would be to give the mimic loot. If you get it, and you manage to fight and kill it, the rest of the chests are off the table, you still lost... but at least you get a loud thud added to your cash-out at the end for the trouble. I'd love to say "give it the trove original items campaign drop table" but then people might just go in intending to farm the mimic which... would be a bad thing, somehow, I think?
