I don't suppose we could get an update on the implementation of this? I'm getting itchy with my stockpiled skillup mats.
Well patch came and went? What happened to this?
Looks like they forgot about this update that so many wanted, guess making it a sticky was a late April Fools joke...
If not its October now! please give us this now its been long enough.
At the very least allow cooking to 100 for everyone tired of never having the food I want on the Auction House.
Its the same food curry/buns, mithkabobs, low supply of tacos, 3 types of sushi, and pizza that's it. (and now skill up food) Would be nice to make myself food that no one makes or uses.
New issue now also new jug pets are 70-80+ cooking so us BST without cooking can't even make them and I am not paying the overpriced prices on them, so my bst is stuck with level 80 jugs.
Screw all other update's postpone level 99 cap increase if needed and revamp crafting
1)Allow another 100 craft or just give everyone cooking uncapped how fishing is now.
2)Multiple Guilds at once, Up to 3 would be nice. - Right now if I want to get Guild points in another craft I lose all points in the current guild im in.
3)Less or no Breaks once you are a certain level above the cap. (example Tsurara cap is level 6 - I am level 100 I broke 4 in a row, that shouldn't happen!)
4)Revamp Guild point items and amounts needed - As an alchemist I am lucky to see an item I can make 2-3 times a week and when it is something i can make it needs like 8 of them for like 4k guild points. Its sad when stuff like a dex potion shows up and you need 6 of them and its impossible to make 1.
5)More stackable and higher stackable items - All Crafting items that doesn't stack needs to stack to 12 stuff that stacks to 12 needs to stack to 99. In a game where we are struggling with inventory space due to "PS2 Limitations" you as a company need to go above and beyond to help us out. Storage slips was a great start but it isn't enough we need a full item revamping to make it work on all systems.
agreed. I gave up crafting because i'm sick of the inventory bS. I don't have room for anything anymore. I literally drop items that are worth less than 10k nowadays because there isn't room for them. I quit cooking because half the crap doesn't stack, or not high enough. I don't think that people should have to have 7 mules in order to do crafting.
Instead of storage slips, maybe we could do craft lockers at the guild, so that you can store all your craft items there. Those storage slips are a pain in the ass. I can never remember what i put in them, and have to pull each slip to see whats in there. Losing your Homam Body is lame. Not remembering where you put a stack of Fire Crystals is far less traumatic.
If you read the whole thread you'll discover that it was decided to be postponed with no eta.
You would have to follow me around everywhere, because I am typically at like 78/80 slots when I am killing stuff. I used to move stuff to my sac/satch, but then when I go to jobchange, i get in the mog house and realize that i have no space to move gear. then I have to run outside again to transfer to a mule/NPC/AH the items. which is a major inconvenience when the items end up adding up to like 35k total.
You've always been able to take two crafts to 100, unless you're publicly stating Fishing was never a craft. Also there are a lot of synthesis that produced undesirable gear (by undesirable I mean useless.) Perhaps make them part of a synthing tree to produce a better more desirable item. Also if you're going to raise the cap you should raise the amount of consumable items produced per-synth. For example Meat Ball, Sliced Carp, Trout Ball, ect are all still x12 per synth perhaps make them 99 so it still makes a stack.
how about something other than leather smithing or goldsmithing getting new synths bonecraft just got an ass full of hot coal each update since alcides crap gear
leathercraft, smithing and clothcraft is getting all the love...can goldsmithing get some top tier gear synthesis please, all we got are those damn rings that gets undercut too death
Well I havent been in abyssea much but I stopped mining after SE reduced the price and frequency of random items like snapping moles, etc. I used to npc them to cover the cost of the stacks of pickaxes I bought, even if i made them by farming the materials or even buying the materials to make them out right.
Anything new on this?
In attempt to clarify, which I must admit I might have been misinformed, fishing didnt seem to count against you post 60 for those 40 pts according to some conversation i had with somebody way back when. It was a while back when I was told this so I could just remember incorrectly. It is also possible that an update change that as well but I never bothered to review the updates that have transpired before this forum was created and I started playing back in 2008/2009 or so. In others words i was looking at it like fishing to 100 plus 2 other crafts when it is moved from 40 to 80. In any case i grow tire of SE micromanaging and extremely limiting limitations on what you can and can't do and to which degree you can or cant, might as well be prison or something.
Even still unless they add some better and new recipes to utilize the changes it still a waste either way.
What about the limit per day? There seems to be a hidden limit to the number of skillup levels one can complete in a single RL day. I know that SE prefers misinformation be spread rather than tell us what is real. I suppose frustration and rumors is preferred to a happy player base.
If there's a limit, it's an awful big one. I've leveled multiple crafts 15+ levels each in a single day. Now, there IS a fatigue meter for fishing, but that's a different animal entirely- it simply renders you effectively unable to catch, which obviously kills skillups at the same time.
Have you leveled several times above 60 in a single day? My semi-caps at 2 lvls per day.
Yep. Did 90-93 on Clothcraft (mix of giant bird fletchings + rainbow capes) one day and decided (since I wasn't gonna go crazy) to see if the cap on Meteorite -> Glass Fiber was correct, since I'd been having trouble doing them @60.
Alchemy 60-62 the same JP day. I don't see any "crafting fatigue", more that it's 1) Incredibly tough to get enough materials to make attempts in large amounts in any given day and 2) The odds of skillup as you go over 60 rapidly decrease.
I have had similar experiences. I think I did 67->70 Goldsmithing in one game day. I remember because I handed the Puppetmaster Quest NPC something and had to wait for day change, so I just crafted some materials I had sitting around.
I know for sure that I've done a few levels of one craft and then switched and done a few levels of another craft within the same game day.
I seem to recall a friend of mine leveling Goldsmithing in roughly a week or so. That was like 5 years ago though. Maybe things have changed? Or maybe I'm just crazy...
You're not. 1-60 can be done in a day, assuming sufficient funds and access to materials. Nowadays, it's even easier.
Heck, easiest way to test it out is Alchemy, since that's likely as fast and straightforward a process as it gets- and I know I've seen people readily go 1-50+ just powerleveling an alchemy mule to skill them up.
First I would like to say that as a player paying for a decade its time you listened to the players and stop using our money to fight RMT activites. Concentrate on our game instead of fighting the impossible. This is the reason why we lost so many people.
Things to help fishing:
1) skill ups take to long. I just got done wasting 4 hours of fishing time just to get no skill ups. We as the players need to know more about the rules of fishing that you set forth. What is expected of us to get our skill ups. Skill ups are just all over the charts since the changes. Some of us are not young kids anymore and dont have the time to sit infront of the computer to get a .1... or no skill ups. It is just not fun. This could be one reason why we lost so many people....
FFxi is a great game because its complicated and difficulty level is up there but there comes a point when its just to much and the people cant take it anymore.
2) if your going to put restrictions on fishing then make it that. I would rather know how much fatigue I have in a meter or be told I can only catch so many fish in a day than fight with the mess that fishing has become. Its not going to stop rmt activity.
3) fishing should be brought to server side for a few good reasons. a) the usage of bots which is what created the fatigue system can be eliminated b) ffxi can make their own bots and charge us for it. Lets say a rental program for the honest players. If this was done that would give ffxi more money to increase its staff and make it better. after all ffxi is a business right??? This would make the players happy also. Lets face it there is already to much content in ffxi so why not make it easier to obtain capped crafting. This could even pay for a team to fix the stuff we have instead of making more areas. There are a ton of things that just dont make any sense any more...
Things to help all crafts via the AH:
The AH was created at the beginning of ffxi. We have grown and changed. So why in gods creation do we still only have 7 slots available. We should have unlimited slots and change how we do business. We are still going to need mules and always will so that tactic for extra money is moot. At this point the rmt have been beaten so much that the AH is just plain bare. The players dont have the time to farm for hours and play the game and there just are not enough crafters because of the difficulty level. I go to get stuff and there is nothing for sale... or I have my 7 items on ah and I sit there for days some times waiting for it to sell. Its no wonder why players go buy gil... Your forcing them to. If your so conserned about RMT activity then why not think for a second about how the players will respond. what things are they doing that we can put a finger on. I for one know that if a player is putting things on the AH for 24 hours a day/7 days a week and never leaves the comfort of jeuno or bastok that they probably are an RMT. Can we do anything about this? YEs. Cap the AH. hmmm if a player is putting up 30 million of one item there is no reason for it. Come up with a good viable number of one item that put a cap on it. this means that after they sell 12 stacks of sneak powder then they are done. they can not ah any more of that item. or you could change it in this fashion. Everyone gets put on a waiting list. RMT like to undercut the real players and the real players have no idea why their stuff is not selling. so what can we do about this. Put them on a waiting list. things are sold for lets say 30k gil no matter what they put up there and they just need to wait their turn. If there are 100 items on ah then they will be number 101. the RMT will not be able to meet their quota for the day and the players will be able to have some money. In my opinion I think that if there is nothing on the AH than the AH should provide it this way there is always something for sale all across the board. Think about that for a second dont just dismis it!
Anouther thing is about the NPC's either the NPC's should have every single item to craft or have none and be able to be gotten from monsters. there is nothing worse than waiting for a city to have control of something just for the RMT to jack up the prices because they can get it 3 cities away. This in no way helps our economy. Everything should be crafted at that point unless its a rare/ex item. All rare items should be done away with completely. FFxi has always been a world of fantasy exploration and working as a close group to get things done. Missions and such. Why push competition. and btw whats up with an NPC selling an item for 30k and when you sell it to the NPC they give you 20 gil.... Come on what moron thought this up. Whats it going to hurt to give players gil. It is after all a game.
If your so worried about RMT activity why has no one thought of just opening up a FFXI RMT addition to the main website. FFXI prints its gil and therefor could take advantage of the proceeds of selling gil to their own people. Some people just dont have the time to wait for things to happen and thuse they run to gil farms or vendors and purchase gil, items and leveling I see even. It means more money for ffxi and it means we would get a bigger and better staff of programmers, developers, and even GM's. The players would be happy and news would spread to those we lost for the past 5 years.
and what would this accomplish also you might be asking... well its very simple. It means that you will be getting more money, the players will be happy and most important is that ffxi could then control the gil in ffxi. COMPLETE CONTROL OVER YOUR GAME! wow what a concept... but my guess is that you already are doing this via brosales cause they keep giving unwanted tells.... and its only them... Nice tactic.
I have more but this is enough to chew on for now. Thanks for supporting the "Players" instead of the RMT for a decade! You know how to contact me if you have questions.
and P.S.
FFXIAH.com is onto a good thing with the bazaars. We need a way to find things in bazaars faster than searching for hours everyones bazaar. If you could hook them up and support their efforts I think that would be great. Then you have an ally in the war against the RMT because we would all be buying from ourselves.... Just a thought
Thanks!
The only reason I cannot respond with more than this is everything I would say would be a violation of forum ToS, so:
No. I disagree with your desires to make this a pay-for-paradise...and the reason we see fewer and fewer RMT companies up to sending out tells is simple. They're mostly elsewhere now. Please, keep using my money to get rid of RMT, I don't want a game infested with the digital equivalent of roaches.
Thats funny. Your even saying that they are STILL everywhere.....
So what has been done bout the RMT situation? Nothing... They just wasted our money "trying" to fight something that is unwinable. Thanks for your help clearing that up.
And yet again tonight I spent anouther 4 hours and not one skill up... I called a GM and they didnt reply, I contacted Support and this is the response:
Thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX support,
SQUARE ENIX is unable to provide game hints, tips or strategy. We recommend that you seek assistance from the manuals, strategy guides (BRADYGAMES - www.bradygames.com), other players and the various Community Sites. An excellent site we can recommend is na.square-enix.com. A suggestion I would give you would be to go on the related forums there and inquire directly to other players what exactly your issue is and perhaps they experienced similar problems.
Did this help me? Not a bit. I'm not asking for game secrets here. I'm saying to fix my fishing so I can enjoy a game that I am PAYING TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I pissed? I Sure Am!!!!!!!!
I'm so pissed I am ready to find a lawyer and sue them. Why? Becuase I am being promised that I can fish and gain levels and right now I am being prohibbited from doing both. And to top it off I am paying my good hard earned money for it. All in the name of RMT actions. Is this really fair to me as a LOYAL PLAYER?
I mean really come on now..............
Here is anouther thought. Why not put the fishing fatigue system only onto the RMT fisherman when they are suspected. Why should it hurt everyone because of a few bad eggs.
Anyone know how to get their own server?
You cant...
I've been here since the first NA week of release. Believe me, they're not "everywhere".
Everywhere was when you saw botted RMT doing mining circuits in Gusgen. Fishbotting desynthesis items in Yughott, literally lining every available surface for whatever was the most valuable fishbotting pre-Gobbie Bounty Hunters. Monopolizing spawns. Massive manipulation of the AH economy. We're nowhere near those levels of RMT influence today, and it's only because of the unceasing efforts of S-E.
See above. I've been a part of the game economy for nearly a decade. You can't "kill" RMT short of literally being able to go to the source and physically putting a sledgehammer through their computers- people will constantly attempt to manipulate the game for real profit, and the only thing you can do is treat the attacks on said system to minimize their effects. That applies to every game. FFXI. WoW, and nearly every MMO on the market.Quote:

So...you're complaining about skillups? How about you give me the numbers? What are you fishing? What's your current skill level? How many of your actual pulls were fish that could skill you up before fatigue sets in?Quote:

Any lawyer would look at you, by the way- and laugh their ass all the way out the door as they politely escorted you out of the office. You aren't promised anything of the sort, nor that an activity be as easy as you want it to be. What you ARE being is absurd.Quote:

Precisely. You're over the top and you want your own special playground where you can be the best without doing it at the same pace everyone else is.Quote:
I mean really come on now..............
From years and years of hearing stuff like this- odds are, the problem is you. That being said, said problems are usually easier to correct than you might think, and the solution is not howling about the unfairness of the game for denying you skillups. It's finding out why your skillup rate is so abominable, talking with other players with -details-, and getting over the wall.
Now, let's get started. Your current skill, where you're fishing and for what, what rod, what bait. I can guarantee you, you can do better with help. That's what you need to give in order to get it.
I suppose you would be fine with the government shutting down the internet to get rid of cyber-criminals right? Because that's much easier than pursuing them in a way that doesn't adversely affect law abiding citizens.
Dude is somewhat off kilter, but correct in that SE usually does more harm to Non-RMT players than actual RMTs with their tactics.
FYI I am the best already it is for the noobs that I see the need for these changes .
My Other MMO's have books for recipies , might be a handy thing to Add just cause at times some things are easy to forget.
Recepie ??? , it list the items red out item = no Go , all items in the green click it to make , and wala it stats making.
though they use crafting stations, tweaking it to use the crystal and auto-populate the sqaures with the goods and stat systhisis , might have others crafting more.
The books could be cheep sold , and or learned , that way if you make a warp cugel and go on hiatus for a few weeks /mounths/year and forget , your charicter still rembers it. along with everything else.
open the recipe book slect item to make and if you have it all the crystal will use and populate with items needed automaticly
this is one aspect FFXI never did , is the recipie book.
You do realize that its not the RMTs that youre mad at right? Its the people that use bots to get what they want! If you have to use a bot, you have no business in playing this game! Maybe SE, with their tech superiority, should write a script to prevent botters but I bet that japanese logic will get in the way like it usually does! O.o
Well, if the developers are still addressing this I would like to ask that they start selling some of the cheap stuff for crafting in the stores or at least in the guild stores as regular items. As a low-level/ mid-level crafter it's really frustrating to have to waste crystals on stuff like making copper ingots or wasting time and crystals on beeswax or gelatin (and of course breaking a few "randomly" was really hoping that was done away with). It may seem as if most have gotten maxed out or given it up but not all have.
Now that the market is dead for virtually anything that's crafted save for a few exceptions I think it's the best time to remove the crafting limit and allowing us to level up all crafts to 100 with the same character if we chose to do so.
After all the limit never actually worked anyway because people that wanted to get other crafts to 100 simply leveled them on their mules. So if in the past there was little reason for the limit, nowadays it (along with the xp penalty when partying with other players or fellows) is a completely unnecessary limitation of the game.
/2gil
Ah and a question that doesn't seem to get asked ( or answered) why integrate Sooooo many crafts in such a manner if there is a level cap on it? So many recipes call for the sub craft to be higher than the cap I didn't even know there WAS a cap.
Bump bump bump
If there is one thing (the only thing) that XIV 2.0 did better than XI it has to be crafting. Because the process of crafting items is actually fun in that game.
(Which is funny considering how irrelevant crafted items are in XIV nowadays.)
So hopefully they can eventually implement that system in XI.
Ah, don't take this the wrong way but, how about abolishing hqing stuff in favor of just letting us upgrade the items instead? Like instead of having to hq iron ingots into steel just letting us upgrade it instead? Like maybe use guild points or new point system or something like that to just upgrade our iron ingots to steel? Or like upgrade pet pots into the higher level pet pots? Like the carrion broth into the bubbling carrion broth?
A problem with crafting I'd love to see addressed is that, with the death of Voidwatch, hexed gear is very difficult to make due to the scarce availability of the VW related items. I speak personally as an Alchemist where, unless I'm mistaken, past skill level 102, hexed gear is the only reasonable option availble to gain skill from. What I call for is either a way to either make these Voidwatch items readily available, a Voidwatch crafting item NPC for example, or replace the item entirely with a more readily available material and removing the VW crafting material from the game.
At the end of the day, either option wouldn't make the synths particularly easy, all hexed gear requires Voidwalker related items which is uncommonly sold but not the to extent of the Voidwatch items and can at least be farmed reliably.
I would also point out that there is a huge imbalance in the ease of which it is to level a craft to 110, fishing and cooking have it very easy while all other crafts are far more challenging, using a player run website shows these figures across all servers for 110 crafts:
Smithing - 5
Clothcraft - 8
Alchemy - 14
Woodworking - 27
Goldsmithing - 0
Leathercraft - 13
Bonecraft - 9
Cooking - 293
Fishing - 1945
Now I'll accept that fishing isn't truly a craft and can be attained alongside a players chosen craft but cooking especially shows more than triple players at 110 than all the other crafts combined and for me that is all down to the need for many crafts to have to make hexed gear to skill up but then having limited supply of materials while cooking has a 110 synth available to them with materials that cost less than 50k going by Cerberus prices.
