During the Temporary Suspension of the Services Due to an Earthquake , Can we change our race or names in the game ?
I would really like to... This will cheer other players too, because some people chossed a race without knowing the gameplay.
I took Hume race 5-6 years ago, and after few years from registerd in this game, I was hoping that we get an option to that once every 2-3 years. People like the change itself.
I think SE should let us do that when they operate the game.
Also SE isn't really going to lose anything when they let us change our race or names. They are just files...
I agree with Dantel, all thought it does sound like the the electric company in japan has a good plan to get the power going as i seen yesterday they will be around 80% at the end of April, but i do not think it is so important that we play our game if the people running it are having to sit in uncomfortable conditions. also over all wont the servers over heat without the AC? I really like the fact SE is willing to do this and i really with at the end of his post he would have been like and a lot of you people say we don't care. I guess that just isn't the Japanese way. I just hope that when the United States goes though something like this we have the ability to be as calm as the Japanese people. I truly have a unbelievable amount of respect of the people and how they are handling this situation. My work may be sending me over to help (I work for the government) and we they called me in there office yesterday and asked me i could say yes fast enough.
They've been really reluctant to allow such changes. Not sure just what their hangup is. Maybe I just got spoiled by the old Java/SQL camp I used to work for. It can get pretty complicated depending on the type of database and connectors being used. Regardless though, I would expect the GUID would be bound to either your POL ID or toon's name, so it should be easy enough to change it if that's the case. If they are using something like a SQL compliant engine, it SHOULD be a simple enough task--kind of a script that says basically where field xyz=old name update xyz=new name. But who knows just how they have the data laid out--they could be doing some funky view of an AS/400 style file/field layout that winds up complicating things more than need be, but was necessary for the speed.Quote:

I read that post.Thank you employees of Square Enix for this sacrifice,so we can play your wonderful game.It is greatly appreciated.I only wish the best for you, your families and your country,in this time of great hardship.
leave the game off till you can run everything at 100%
Why suffer more?
Yeah, regardless of their current comfortability; Square-Enix stock has plummeted during this past week. A lot of their investors need to see that the company is still going to be moving forward. They've already cancelled the production of "Gun Loco," a game which they've already sunk a considerable amount of time/money into. I'm sure they can't afford to keep putting servers down.
DUDE, deep respect for you guys! seriously :D lets /cheer for SQEX! :DQuote:
Operating the servers for these services makes up 11.6% of the total power consumed by our Tokyo office (based on February 2011 records). We have shut down our air conditioning system (8.8%) and enacted other power conservation measures, such as reducing lighting in our offices, to achieve over 10% in energy usage reductions. With these energy saving measures in place, we will be able to bring our servers back online and restore service to FINAL FANTASY XIV, FINAL FANTASY XI, and PlayOnline on Mar. 25, 2011 11:00 (GMT). All other services, such as those offered on the PlayOnline website, that were temporarily suspended will also be restored at the same time. Please be aware, however, that we may once again be required to suspend services in the event that the power situation worsens.
SE shut down air conditioning and adjusted their lighting to bring our games back.
I hope everyone appreciates this.
Thank you, SquareEnix.
