So painfully obvious that someone has never done ADL, or realizes how many people you need to force to help you do it.

Ok I got to ask. You're really not this bad. I knew you and Benni on Quetz and you were nice, normal people.
What's with the false front and D+ trolling you do everywhere?
Does this really derive some kind of pleasure for you? It's so contrary to the you I knew it really falls flat, like you're trolling based on some kind of outdated formula from a 1970's handbook titled: "Bullies and You". You're acting like the kid that got picked on, and tries to pick on others to feel included. You're just making a fool of yourself, and being a hypocrite.
Stop please. I know you're smarter than this.
I'm joining the "I quit" roles, largely because of the relic trials. My mule account is already shut down and my main 2 accounts will be turned off in a matter of days.
My Dynamis LS broke months ago, since everyone would rather solo/duo for their loot than work with group of people to take down the harder NMs. I haven't killed a single Arch Dynamis Boss yet, let alone ADL. I haven't even done more than a handful of VW fights. I have very few friends left who play FFXI and I highly doubt I'd be able to get my new LS to help me kill 40 ADLs to upgrade my husband's and my relics, since I've barely done any events with them and they hardly know me.
Getting kills on ADL might be plausible, since relic holders could work together on the goals at the same time, but getting items from him means only 1 person will benefit from the work of a full alliance. I don't even know a full alliance worth of people anymore, let alone a full alliance that would help me with a pissy NM that would only drop a single item toward the upgrade of a single weapon...
Not yet quitting, but the following 3 points are 3 reasons that didn't exist a year ago when I was having fun with the game and felt SE and their FFXI team have turned a corner with the abyssea system.
-The lvl 99 trials
- Favouring of certain jobs to access large swathe of content. BSTs can pretty much solo their relics now; while other jobs require begging of helpers which naturally slow down your progress as most people wouldn't help for free
- Legion
As it stands, the little good will they generated with magian trials and abyssea is gone and the tone of the developer's 'vision' has reversed at an increasing rate towards masochism and treating the playerbase like we don't have a life. I may just take my money and spend it on Capcom's MonHun. I heard MonHun4 is coming soon.
Maybe I'm being a bit outlandish, and okay i'll tone it down but has anyone forgotten the stats? It's a huge boost.
We went from 1k/500/3k to this.
Is it going to require man power and some persistence? Yea but it's more of an annoying task than anything. Don't you agree?
It's obvious I gave a bit of an obnoxious personality, I get it, I can be a bitch. But i'm not trolling. I personally think is reasonable? Massively annoying, but any group or ls can dedicate dynamis runs for their relics. It's NOTHING like it was before.
Does this fall in line with "an entire ls or group working towards one person" thing, Yeah. No argument there. But it's not nearly as bad as it was at 75... Admit that at least. My ls will not have any problem attempting this. The only issue is how random ADL can be for killing the right one.
I don't think it's nearly as hard as people are making it out to be.
I'm biased though cause I personally not even going to bother if it's too much of a hassle, so maybe i'm not giving you people who just want the best enough credit, but quitting over it?
I think that's a bit silly, but you're right. I shouldn't be so obnoxious.
People are complaining about the stage 1 99 weapons because SE mentioned it would be easy to get with relative ease. 20-10-60 is not relative ease for any weapon. especially since its the exact same item required for stage 2 99. It is a major complaint that all are talking about.
Mythic builders have worked their asses off for their weapon. Pre-76+ relic builders have had the same difficulty and Emp builders can just deal with whats handed to them. What SE has done to Relic and Mythic users is spit in their faces after years of hard work.
I and others cannot stress this enough: It's not quitting over ONE THING, it's a long line of shit that has built up over the span of years. It adds up.
No one who isn't being a troll wants to do the ADL trial. So what about the stats, they could have easily made us earn those stats other ways. But no, they troll us with 20 ADL drops. So there's going to be like... 1 or 2 or 5 or 10 total LSs that are bored enough to go through with it until they either get done in a few years or they break apart due to shitty drama over ADL. Take your pick. We didn't ask for the level cap raise. It can bite me if this is the outcome of it.
Add me to the list....if this is SEs idea of "a reasonable trial which majority of lv95s in average gear can complete", then ill keep my money.
Yeah, ADL can be killed by an alliance of lv 95s...does that mean it makes sense that a group can only complete 1 relic per month going every day? Fk mo
Why I quit:
Time Sinks:
I like a challenge, not endurance. Time sinks = wasted time. Time sinks are where you're spending time not doing a lot or are needlessly repeating a task. What I like is for a reward to be harder to get because the fight is more challenging. For this reason I loved G5/Maat, if you didn't pick one of the easier jobs this was an interesting challenge. It wasn't a case of defeat him 'x' number of times, it was try and beat him and it may take 'x' number of tries.
Imbalance of Jobs: Abyssea was the annoying one here. There were 'favourite' jobs for Abyssea that Abyssea was pretty much made for. It made it harder to play your preferred jobs, my top 3 were SCH, COR and PUP. My Aby LS had me come SCH, which was nice, but it meant I was healer either on smaller NMs or to assist another healer. I don't think I've played SCH as a SCH in Abyssea. COR I got to use 3 times (I didn't have Arma). PUP...in small solo situations. For shout parties, if I asked if they needed a SCH the response would normally be: "do you have a BLM?" or "do you have a WHM?"
Unsatisfactory Updates: SE made the forum to get more feedback and to be closer to the players, kudos. It seems some jobs still get the better attention than others. On the odd occasion you can see where the forum might have impacted an update, but it seems a number of problems are ignored. It seems when a job is underpowered or a spell/ability is underachieving they don't make much of a move but when something is overachieving they're usually quick to nerf it.
Levelling got boring: Granted, Valkurm Dunes and Qufim got boring after a while. Book burns were nice and quick for levelling up, but boring as hell. To my eyes, the solution to quick exp would have been to increase the exp rate even more. Normal exp parties were a blast, Wajoam was one of my favourites, particularly as our LS groups knew how to get a pretty decent set up for it and the best part about these parties was you could experiment your job's play style a bit - it was how I discovered my love for SCH and COR and lead me to appreciate their good qualities. Okay, this is probably a minor thing, but I can't say I liked getting my subs up or getting a new job up. I ended up keying MNK and SMN...heck, keyed my RNG from 65 to 72 yesterday. Weirdly enough, before BB, it's not something I would have done (arguably, if I'm gonna sit around bored getting exp, why don't I go for for the quickest method?)
Why I came back
FFXI is a decent game. I've played other MMORPGs, but I've found them to be pretty boring. After I quit I did get into WoW, but the journey to level 85 wasn't that interesting and once I hit it...I got pretty bored. But I like WoW because there were things they did right, customer service was one. They seemed to have an idea about what each job is meant to do and what they're for, but also what job I chose wasn't so much of a problem because they didn't seem as imbalanced. Whilst people claimed some jobs were OP, I didn't actually experience it. Problems with FFXI still exist and I don't think they weigh any less because I think it's a good game (why would I play it if it was bad?)
Linkshells: Met some interesting people playing this game and enjoyed playing it with them, I missed teaming up with cool people.
Unexplored Content: I spent a lot of time doing endgame and levelling jobs that I didn't appreciate more of the game. Once I have, I'll no longer have this reason to stay.
People like COR: I heard COR gained popularity and people like having one in VW. Given COR was a job I wanted to play a lot more, this was good to see. A reason to play one of my favourite jobs in the game. In Abyssea there wasn't much of an attraction for people to use it, so it's refreshing to be on the winning side in that respect. Plus SCH had some attractive Regen updates, but I can't say whether or not I find them useful, because I've not used them yet, my SCH is still 90 and I might play it again, I just don't want to get into a situation where it's a second class White Mage.
Were the items from ADL, PW and riftstuff proven to be purchasable or no? Personally if they are sellable, i'm just spending that time farming cash, let a merc shell do the work... >.> (nice try but, no cigar SE)
Sooner that then build the set myself besides, 20m is ~10 days of Dynamis farm which many can solo. Didn't say it wouldn't take awhile, but to skip the trouble of dealing with them sure I would. Plus 20m seems a bit high even for such an item.
Yeah you do know that its 18 people spilting 20 mil right for ADL so don't expect to see many and 20 mil is lowballing the heck out of it. The simple fact there is a 25% chance of SE craping on 18 peoples 2 hours of time they could had been farm currancy, mercs will be charging much more. Then how many alts will you need to feed zeni plates to to get the T4 pops, going to be hard getting people to farm that for you. Remember how hard it was to get people to do it when they znm mobs drop stuff people wanted so again 20 mil is low balling.
Ok, ill rephrase price isn't the issue, I'd rather spend gil (made from dynamis, cruor, VW w/e) then take the time to organize 18 people so that only I benefit. If it takes a year of soloing something I can solo vs playing LS leader just long enough to complete the trial ill take the solo option. Besides I heard they could drop x2 which would cut overall price:work. Could be mistaken on that fact. This only really apply to relic/mythic anyway the rift items already go for 150k on my server.
Yeah your really not getting it there simply to much risk for you avg merc LSes to farm these to sell. And anyone putting together a run will be going to get the items for them selfs. Now if you want to put 20 mil up front for them they might but they could also farm it for their own. Don't expect the supply to be near enough for you to buy one cause you are not the only one that will think that way. Hell then supply and demand kicks in driving the price even higher.
Presuming that this item actually does get farmed by people looking to sell, at 20 mil a piece...20 items at 10 days per item is 200 days to upgrade your relic to 99, have fun with that rofl
It takes less time to build a relic from scratch and do all the trials to 95.
you do know that each LS that has relics will keep the drops for their relics first. The earliest time you would see something like this in a bazaar sold in "masses" would be 6 months after the trial was implemented. Even then good luck, because I doubt the average hoe will kill ADL consistently, while the good shells will keep the drop to upgrade their own relics...
1. The fact that you in another post ask if the upgrade items are sellable, proves that you haven't been paying attention at all to the ongoing discussions regarding the upgrade trials. That tells me that you really have no clue how utterly retarded these trials are.
2. @the bolded part: I check bazaars daily and the lowest I have seen for riftcinder is 250k, riftdross is always higher priced. And that's already a while ago. It was only yesterday I saw someone shouting to buy riftcinder for 1 mil each. And I'm on Asura too btw. The supply is incredibly low aswell, since only 2 nms can drop them and that specific slot in the treasure chest is shared between armour or weapon, heavy metal plate, scrolls, and riftcinder or riftdross. Or quite possibly an ore or a log...
The only "good" thing about the empyrean trial, is not having to depend on other people to get your items.
/sigh
I didn't say the trials were ok the way they were
I didn't say I don't want them changed
I didn't say buying was the fastest or most effective way
What I did do is ask if they were in fact sellable (I knew the empy was but was unsure of the others) I never got a straight answer to this btw though, I'm assuming yes.
I also stated my preference to completing the trial, my personal opinion. I wouldn't expect other players to do the same but, I also didn't count on my opinion becoming a discussion. On the assumption there is no changing the minds of the DEVs in regards to the final trial I would prefer wait XX amount of time (years if I must) If only for the satisfaction I didn't play by the Devs stupid rules. Again, this is personal choice no one is making anyone do what I plan to do.
As far as the 150k rift items I don't intend to reveal the players that put them up for that price otherwise it wouldn't be as easy for me to get them at that price. (If I decide to upgrade or just sell at a higher price for relic upgrades remains to be seen)
There is now a page of posts discussing my opinion.
Well then - yes, both the other items are sellable. I've seen the ADL item in 2 different bazaars recently, both priced at 30 mil. Check Vinner when you see him, he has the PW item in his bazaar for max gil (or at least he did a couple of days ago).
That's the point though - at this stage of the game, you shouldn't have to wait years to be able to finish a trial like this. You shouldn't have to spend 200 million gil (like someone else mentioned earlier, presuming the ADL item sells for 10 mil per, which I really don't see happening) to take your relic from level 95 to level 99, that's just insane. You shouldn't have to rely on 17 other people for help with little to no reward for them. At least not when we're talking about the time investment required for 10 PWs and 20 ADLs.Quote:

My LS has 20+ relics. Lets assume they lower the requirements to 5. We still have to kill ADL 100+ times. If I could kill ADL 5 times and never have to worry about it again I wouldn't quit but the thought of killing it 100 times over the next year or so and then having to start all over on the new relics that people have gotten while we finished the first set makes me want to quit. I'm not a jerk so I don't intend on getting what I need and then telling everyone else to screw themselves which means if I want my elic I will be doing ADL 100+ times. Do you get it now?
If she had any chance of getting it then you two wouldn't be having this argument.
I understand what you're saying, I just think it's silly to quit over it. Especially since it's quite possible for you to attain. Now maybe you have to wait in line, but patience is a virtue, and you don't need every one of your relics 99. If that's all that's standing between you and quitting, well maybe the game isn't for you. This quest is not unreasonable imo.
Takes time, effort, team work, a bit of selfishness, sure. Unreasonable? Nope, not imo. Only from the point of view that people will have to wait in line and groups have to work together to progress on a single persons' weapon each time.
Don't quit over it though, it's not that deep. I mean we went from what it was going to be, to this. I say we got lucky tbh.
Any game where my LS is required to do the same exact event 2-3 times a week for a year straight and still not be done upgrading everyone's 99 is not the game for me. I have no problem with putting forth reasonable effort and even some unreasonable effort but being expected to do the same boring garbage event that half of the people there really would rather not be doing over and over and over with no end in sight just screams "QUIT THAT POS GAME!! STOP GIVING THEM YOUR MONEY!!". Even other terrible grinds like VW and Salvage had variation.
Really it's not even about this one single decision. The devs either do not get it or just don't care. When I came back to the game I used to be excited about update notes and dev posts but now I dread them. Half the things they do annoy or upset me so why should I continue paying so I can subject myself to that? There's all kinds of stuff I can do for free that will annoy me like waiting in line behind an old lady paying with a check or cleaning my cats litter box.
And yet we all pay....
Guys....
I think we might have a problem.

I'm thinking about it, because I've sorta run out of stuff to do. I finally finished all missions a few days ago. I have all the equipment I want for WHM, BLM, and MNK. I might stick around a while longer to finish up BST +2 feet and hands, and get the rest of those abyssites.
Really everyone, if the game is causing you undue stress and decreasing levels of joy, it's time for a break.
Its not the game thats causing "undue stress and deceasing levels of joy", its the constant bullshit that SE spews out at us, then tells us "oh well make it more justified, we actually WANT people to complete this content", and then spew out more bullshit which maybe 5% of the playerbase will be able to complete.
Naw, There's a metric fuckton of stuff to do in this game. The problem is that none of it gets maintained or updated and the devs use archaic methods to focus all of our attention on one or two bits of new content.
I would put time back into this game(lots of time) if quests, bcnms, missions, trials, assaults and other events were updated/polished a bit. It just sucks to log in and see everything that was fun collecting dust while another lame NM system with shitty drops rates gets added every year.
Nope, not me anymore. My accounts were cancelled a few days ago. Not sure when my forum access will be yanked...
Thinking of picking up TERA again, there's a big update coming soon with new gear, areas, and higher levels, and I don't have to pay for an "expansion" either!
Nope. The Dev team has nothing planned that would lure me back, and we all know how long it takes from planning to implementation. I'm done running on the hamster wheel for almost no reward. They just posted "new" requirements of 5 ADL items for relics, but that is still out of reach for me.
I'm surprised I can still post... probably only because I haven't logged out of the forum since my accounts were deactivated. If I close this browser tab, I'll probably be cut off.
After 10 years, and the stuff SE has been doing since 90 cap, I think its pretty safe to say people that are leaving now, prob wont be back.
