FFXI 18+ options?

Aside from it being added to FFXI I think FFXI is better than all of that to have it, and like anything else it's not that tough to pretend you're 18+ on the internet but actually be under 18 in real life.

I think Cid's teeth deserve a Mature rating as it is, he doesn't need to swear to scare children (or toughened adventurers), He just needs to smile.

They want to keep the game rated Teen, so nothing like this could ever happen.

There is a small amount of cursing, a few NPCs say "Damn," but that's about it. One instance of this was removed when they made rent-a-rooms automatic. One of the Tarus in windy would say "Damn, I knew you'd make me have to do more paperwork..."

Less restrictions = more players = more money.

This idea would never fly, cuz if SE did this then all the parents would have a fit and would swear to boycott SE and never let their kids play this game.
