This is not just at you and I have not read every post but I have seen others wanting this game to be easier. The problem is FFXI has always been a hard time consuming game and you are asking for them to change what has made most love this game. It is not like the other MMORPG's. You want easy or do not have the time try FFXIV.
I do agree though that some pops are way to long and on the ridiculous side. I am older and do not have the time I used to have when I started the game so I hear you and would not mind something a slightly easier than FFXI was during the day but I do not want this game to become FFXIV. I tried FFXIV and you never feel the sense of accomplishment because so much is handed to you and then outdated right away anyway. It is constantly chasing a carrot you never catch... I do not mind grinding either. If it takes me a year cause I do not have the time then it takes me a year.
Reason for these super long grinds right now is because if they do not people wont have much to do since they are not really adding allot to the game anymore. People stop logging on very often they may stop all together so they need long grinds to keep people logging on.
Take like the torques in FFXI they took allot of work and time but when you got the item is was good for a long time and such a sense of accomplishment. The black belt was way to ridiculous but if you got the black belt it was such and accomplishment and still is good in the game today but the black belt was way to ridiculous back in the day.
While it would be easier yes, but not a too wide or noticeable degree. The reason why I suggest adding to the Nyzul Ilse NMs and allowing them to count is because these mobs are suppose to be the same. Many of the older mods are still obscenely long. I'm all for the multiple route versus having to force a single path. As with my proposed idea: you have to, with the Nyzul Ilse route, go in with the concept of planning to kill 'X' NM. As they are random spawns, just the same as they would be in their real place counterpart, you'll never know if you'd actually run into them. More so, if you happen to run into them on a job that can't wield the weapon that needs it, then you're simply out of luck. It allows for the "Maximizing" of time in a sense. Rather than sitting down in one location for 8-12 hours, you can be doing something that you feel is also productive and not have wasted a day. It's more so trying to help people stay invested. When you feel that you've wasted too much time, it ends up begrudging people and they often times stop playing.
Are there any plans to move the orchestrion controls away from the mog house door? Every time I go to leave my mog house I forget and end up clicking the orchestrion controls by mistake. I think this was addressed once upon a time but I can't find a post about it.
Abyssea KI farming: Adjust this to either allow all party members to acquire KI upon kill OR reduce respawn time for NMs to less than five minutes. As it stands now these NMs are the brick wall when farming gear or empy weapons, which isn't terrible in itself, but becomes incredibly frustrating when someone is farming for an empy weapon and either another person is farming for the same weapon or simply farming for gear. If all members acquired a KI upon kill it would give incentive for group play. If the NM repop time were reduced to something very low then the competition element for these NMs would disappear.
Tahrongi NMs need a complete do-over. Obtaining Chloris and Glavoid popsets are still ridiculously excessive.
Abyssea NMs should have instant repop, and give 100% KI/Atma/Abyssite/Color change
I built all 16 emps "the hard way" it's the definition of "not fun"
One AH linked across servers. Low population servers are hurting both due to lack of materials on AH and also high population servers having many more crafters thus lowering cursed gear prices. Right now you can go to asura and buy everything for literally half price. I know SE is probably banking off of the people server hoping due to this but it's really taking away from the quality of the game.
I like to see them adding more Abyssea NM Key Items to large gold chests, specifically NMs Key Items that drop items used to upgrading Empyrean Weapons, and also 1 other Key Item that's used along in a set to spawn Sobek. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...ge-Gold-chests .
Key Items that could be added into large gold chests which are linked to specific NMs such as
"Torn Khimaira Wing", dropped by Dhrome Khimaira in Abyssea uleguerand, used to spawn Apademak
"Steaming cerberus tongue", dropped by Amarok in Abyssea Altepa, used to spawn Orthrus
"Venomous hydra fang", dropped by Ningishzida Abyssea Grauberg, used to spawn Alfard
"Bloodstained bugard fang", dropped by Minax Bugard, used along with 2 other KIs to spawn Sobek.
Why not gold chest having a pop set of 3 KI for thoses NM that required that amount of KI ?
Also, i wouldn't mind having an "Unlimited 1-Forbidden Key" to buy at an expensive price (of course !).
Maybe a delivery box option "Retrieve all"?
That I can back wholeheartedly! Make it a few million cruour or something and make it rare/ex. No more lugging around stacks of keys while farming, no more running out of keys and having to run back, and it would make popping all those chests so much easier while farming too. No more wondering "should I check first so I don't waste a key".
Or just an "unlimited Key" that consume cruor when opening a chest :)
can you make it so the mog garden can select between mog garden theme and moghouse music?
cruor to sparks or gil yes please :)
some special glasses to see voidwalker nm's
I'd love a Ionis Staff like the Signet Staff.
Is it possible to have an implementation of <stbnpc> that only cycles through battleable targets?
In my opinion, from a bird's eye perspective, targeting is one of the main things that hinder gameplay. A rough list of these things:
1. A lack of on-screen timers for skill/magic cooldowns (This is big, a #1 priority imho. There are nearly no games without this, especially MMOs, even very old ones)
2. Targeting is actually pretty hard, even though after many years I got used to it. But since this is a QoL thread, I'd like to see this addressed (Re: my suggestion above, at the very least). It also has some glitches but I haven't been able to figure out what causes it.
(And I use <stpt> <stal> <stnpc> <lastst> etc. across all my macros, but they're not enough for even something simple such as cycling through battle-only targets)
Targeting can also take proximity into account, and first sort the targets in the list based on distance, so cycling would first take closest targets into account. (An on-screen list would also be very welcome addition here, very similar to how FFXIV does it)
3. Limited macros, which should be expanded (both number of lines but also the amount of chars per line), and wait capabilities
Only tip of the iceberg here though! I had a huge list of QoL stuff from years back, I'll post it if/when I find it.
But even just these would improve the gameplay drastically. They're that important imho.
i know u said there would be no new content, but content is what brings in new people, and lots more money. without new content ppl do the same things over and over, except ambuscade which is new content, but its items are now worthless. the stacks of heavy metal are 50k on bahamut server, and the alex is 400k a stack and u get nothing at 15-30-50 hallmarks a piece. I dont mean to be rude, but somethings need some adjusting. I love this game, have since the start, i just want to see it do good and still flourish, even if you SE have given up on it, we haven't, and we would appreciate any help you can give us in making our lives just a tad more pleasurable. thanks for all that you have done, you have made huge improvements in nice places and made us proud, i just hope you can continue to do the same. also as far as new content, new armors, new weapons new bosses, things like omen are nice, but im still not satisfied, ff14 gets new content all the time, and it hasnt been given up on.
Please add a new campaign for Sinister Reign. To make it simple and feasible to be implemented, copy what was done for Vagary. After choosing your reward from the menu, an additional random "Decanter" item (the ones added for the ANV Dial) is also awarded directly. This would result in a "double drop" campaign, just like Vagary, without having to change anything with the content or menu themselves. It would be very nice if the Decanters were also made POL-Sendable if this campaign were to be implemented.
Please raise the natural level caps on all lv99 jug pets so that they can reach ilvl119. It doesn't make sense to ask for new versions of the existing families if we can just use the existing jugs. It is extremely unintuitive that the various existing lv99 jugs all have different maximum levels, and I'd like to be able to use some of the old ones for variety/utility.
Also, please adjust Call Beast so that the cooldown timer resets if you use Leave while your pet is at full health, similar to PUP.
can you make storage, cash, satchel, and all main inventory 150 or 200? this would cut back on the heavy usage on the wardrobes.
isn't it still a PS2 game ported onto a PC? the reason we aren't getting any new expansions was down to a lack of PS2 devkits?
Please add new rewards to the fish ranking competition. There is no point to participate ever again once you've reached Fishing 110. Being able to win a Duck Ring, Penguin Ring, Albatross Ring or the other two rings from the MMM Aquatic Depopulation team would be extremely helpful. Outside of the Fishing Tenacity quest there is no way to get a Duck Ring more than once, either.
Bring back Alluvion Skirmish +2 stones as a reward from Ambuscade once in awhile, too. Duskdim Stones +2 are prohibitively expensive and way too rare for this stage of the games' life.
You could also just add these things back to the Monthly Login system, again. The ones of late have been pretty bad.
Could the repop timers and pop item drop rate be adjusted for the Sky NMs?
It's... really old content at this point, and holds back players from being able to do the sky NMs in Ru'Aun.
On a related note, I'd be happy if they just allowed us to hold more than 1 of the pop KI. Doesn't need to be infinite, maybe 3-5 kinda like the stones used for abysea and void watch. As the real pain is that without an alliance, there really is no way to efficiently get multiple popsets for some of the abysea NMs that take multiple KIs. Chloris is a great example as either have to kill half the zone per set, or spend who knows how long opening chests thanks to RNG (and seeing several KIs you need go to waste as well)
1st of all can you reduce larceny to 20 minutes, 1 hour is way way way too long.
and 2nd is it against the rules to use twitch?
Its not the timed ones that are really a problem on ones like chloris. Its needing 4 different KIs that are not guaranteed drops and needing 2-3 different pop items to pop most of the ki nm. And you have to go through that process 25-50 times, and are only able to hold 1 set of the KIs. There just is not a good way for doing this solo. Also in the case of Chloris, there is only one timed nm for the pop set which is fairly low spawn time to begin with. There just is not a way to efficiently farm ones like to this without a group.
I have done both, killed the NMs and amber cleaved, even mixed the two. Each takes a similar amount of time solo for one that does not have all the event items needed to reliably proc.
The one thing that would help the most is being able to hold more than one ki popset especially on the ones needing multiple KIs. As I know I have not felt held up by timed NM spawns while doing this.
KIs are almost guaranteed tho. You just need to red proc. :/ It took me ~20-25min per Glavoid pop, as THF/WAR, and the only thing that kept me above 15-20min and ruined my average was when the stupid timed spawn gnat decided to be a jerk and choose one of the procs I couldn't do. Still 9/13 odds for me, and can be 10/13 as THF/WAR if you get the Master Trial GS. (><;; Ugh.) It's possible to do 13/13 as WAR/NIN, and NIN/WAR can too with the same stupid GS... The only thing that's held me back on Orthrus is the stupid timed pop tiger who I usually have competition for and occasionally gets stingy with his pop item even w/ TH12 tagged. If that tiger was a 5min pop, then I'd be looking at ~10min per Orthrus pop. Chloris does seem to be worse than any others as far as I can tell, but KIs are not exactly hard to get in general.
I don't know how they could change the system to allow for multiple KIs without looking at an extreme overhaul of the entire content's mechanics. I think a better solution which would help with more targets and have a greater overall impact on reducing frustration levels would be to shorten repop timers on all timed mobs to 3-5min. Maybe an increase in drop rates for pop items is called for too, but I've never gone more than a few minutes between targeted drops as THF/WAR.
... And add another cosmetic great sword already that doesn't require being badass already in order to get. ><;;
...... And bring back Excalipoor for login points. Many of my many me's missed the last time it was available and I want access to Knights of Rotund on all 14x characters. :3
So a while back I read about progression servers on EQ. Recently, I learned that Rift was releasing a progression server called "Rift Prime." Curious, I downloaded the game and have played it for a few weeks.
For any who don't know, a progression server is one in which players can basically restart (or start for the first time) the game as if it had just released. As players on the server progress through the content, new content is released just as it was originally in the past.
This idea, in terms of FFXI, would be a dream come true for players who started the game in its beginning years and long for nostalgia derived from playing through challenging content with friends, one expansion at a time.
Please do this for us! ;)
People are already creating personal servers of FFXI with nostalgia old content of FFXI before the expansions with some only allowing a few expansions into there private servers of FFXI but I am also not sure how much they are possibly going against the rules, policies, Etcetera of SE by doing so since they basically are servers not being run by SE themselves. I get asked this an incredibly lot when I am streaming if I am playing on a legit server or on a private server and then followed by which server I am on. At least I know now where a majority of the population of players that are on private servers are going but actually could be playing on legit SE servers instead which is being a part of the cause of the servers population of players being in a declining on SE own legit servers too. I know Asura is one of the hugest largest Servers we have of legit servers as well...
I think If they did allow this, they should allow the optional choices the players to choose how or what ways they wanted their games to go in playing it to whether it be progressional or the way it is currently in styles of players. I think SE's main choice solution to this was Vana'versey RoE Objectives-{However}.
I have played on three different private servers and while they are fun for a while, there are too many bugs and dead content to really be able to enjoy it. Plus, each private server is unique to the coders keeping it going meaning each server has something about it that is unique and different from the retail version of the game. I want to relive the experience and am willing to pay for it so that it works right and has everything available.
"Private Servers" for this game are illegal. They are not identical to live servers because someone has to hack into the game code, reverse engineer something, then add a workaround to emulate the behavior of a legitimate server to the illegal code database to implement that something. Every piece of "server code" is faked by some admittedly ingenious programmer who was able to figure out a way to replicate some action. I'm not entirely sure if the TOS applies to someone not connecting to the real servers, but at the very least, they are breaking copyright and intellectual property laws, and I wouldn't be surprised if the reverse engineering part of it went against anti-hacker laws. They should be thought of as Pirated Servers, since opening them up is stealing from SE. ^^;; There is an official Free Trial last time I checked. Use that instead. Recommend that instead.

QOL stuff - I run a linkshell that is newbie/returnee focused, and these suggestions are due to new linkshell member experience/feedback):
Please prohibit sale of any packages that are not "Ultimate Seekers Edition" or "Seekers of Adoulin". I've got two new ls members who had to go back and repurchase/install SoA since they somehow managed to buy everything-but-SoA. There is zero justification for leaving any products on the market that are not either the 100% Full Game, or SoA for those returnees who have full accounts barring SoA.
Please streamline the process for redeeming equipment codes (aka Destrier Beret).
Please streamline the Free Trial process to make it simple to convert/upgrade to a full account. Someone who the Free Trial successfully enticed to want to pay for their account should not have to jump through so many hoops to do so that they have to give up and start a fresh account instead.
Please update the "Adventuring Primer" on the POL Frontpage. There needs to be some sort of guide for the new basics for lv1-5. The learning curve for this game is one of the highest around, and I'm somewhat weary of explaining how to unlock ROE/Unity/Trusts to every new linkshell member I pick up without any official sources to point people to. (I don't mind explaining, it is the lack of official basic learning resources that bothers me.) EX: There is a great starter questline that includes rewards like a KI for a free conquest exp ring, but embarrassingly I only know of Alaune in San d'Oria... Why can't I point new non-San d'Orian players towards POL to find the correct NPC for their nation? There is nothing in the Primer to point newbies towards which pretty button to click to get a flowery, possibly obscured, answer. Adding a "Level 5" heading and highlighting the game systems tied to that level would be very good idea.
Thanks;-), I had "Already figured" those private servers aren't actually being allowed legally even though most players under those types of servers are truly convinced it is allowed or it really is being totally allowed by SE and thinking its totally safe when it actually isn't, they go as far as to beg and try to attempt you to join them which when you keep telling them you stay "Legit," stay playing on "legit servers" only then they try to guilt trip you into attempting to do it into joining their servers, tons of times during my twitch stream's no matter how much I try to politely tell them that I only stay playing Legit. (-:
Is it reasonable to ask for a Voidwatch RoE?
Many players including my self have gone up to 3 hour spamming Aello or Qilin only to get 1 Hvy. Metal pouch.
Would be nice for:
0/30 kill RoE for Hvy. Metal Pouch Aello - Quilin - Uptala : This quets would need to be completed 188 times for an average of 8 HMP per pouch thats 5640 Void Stones
0/30 kill for Riftdross, Bismarck : this quest would need to be completed 60 times using 1800 Void Stones
0/30 kill for Riftcinder, Morta : this quest would need to be completed 60 times using 1800 Void Stones
Possibly other RoE quest with reward from, Havaha, Celaeno, Voidwrought, Kaggen, Akvan and Pil.
Any thoughts?
