Take your time! ^^ No rush. I'll find where to stick them into the guide and then update my post on the first page to display them proudly once we're all finished. :D Any more input would be great too! I think we have a good idea of what expansions would be like and maybe some of the perks coinciding with them.
Let's just hope that when SE dose accept it, we wont have to kill AV 400 times just to get a carpet. ^^
Or here's an idea...
<_<; Let's build them from brick and wood?

It'd be good to post your revised version on the OP now and just edit that so folks get a good feel for what you're thinking about right away ^^ Trust me, the ideas will just keep pouring in lol And you can always just link things from the OP to other post once the OP character limit is reached.
The idea of the mog house was a stand by zone. A check point. A place to get your priorities straight and add effects to your game. It could be called a mog base instead. Make it more of a home and you get the right feeling. Make it EXORBITANTLY HUGE and it takes away from the sense of awe you get from actually big and nice places like the chateau in Sandy.
Bigger, not humongous. Good moderation, you know? So in this way it's a -good- thing that mog houses were made small.
Because now they would be small to -begin- with instead. Humbles you, you know?
I would *love* a larger Mog House! There's so much neat furniture that you can get (and I already have a lot) not to mention seasonal decorations. I don't have enough room for all that I have/would like to have in my MH now. Not to mention for me at least it's almost hopeless to try and get moghancements that benefit me because I have too much mix & matched elements and furniture and I feel like it's a waste to have the furniture and not put it out. I really hope they'll consider this, if only adding at one more room to the MH or at least a way to separate or select which furnishings you want active.
I endorse this complete, i have always wanted an increased size of a mog house. In fact that was what i expected FFXIV to have to much disappointment. I enjoy having my own place and to have a tiny tiny room is annoying. I would like it to actually be a house.
it is encouraging to see so much interest in this idea. I went into ww not for gil or making gear etc. i was hooked the minute i saw you could make furniture.
maybe its sexist but maybe its something that the dev could consider for the female players. the more the game is expanded to be something more than fight after fight after fight the broader the player base could be. i really do think it would pay for se to do more in this area.
I brought my ww up to level 83 just to make furniture then realized how hard it was to skillup past 80, still do it when i have extra gil. I have mad about 18 hobby-bo's for friends though =D
WOW!
I haven't checked this thread for a few days. You have done awesome work fleshing this out from an idea to full concept. Good Work!
I supported the idea all along, now it actually has the possibility of happening. I hope a MOD does pass this on to DEV.
I have a suggestion that might help on other areas also. It refines the OP's current summary just a little bit.
I have seen many posts about various ideas to bring people back to the older parts of the game. SE put a lot of effort, in the past, into developing the various story lines and expansions, so incorperate them into the Mog House expansion process.
Make the Mog House expanions only available after completing each of the various story lines. Each story line has a different expansion associated with it.
For example: Attain Rank 10 in Sandoria, and the next time you zone into your MH, your Mog tells you that you are eligable to expand a specific portion of your Mog House. (per the guidelines/requirement mentioned in the OP's summary. Materials, gil, a misc quest, minimum reputation in that area, etc.)
Each Rank 10, or story line completion makes you eligable to expand another specific portion of the house, or attain one of the effects discussed. (separating moghancement effects in different rooms for example)
This would give people the motivation to complete all of these various story lines and quests. For those that have already finished a particular line, speaking to the final NPC in the line, again, would trigger the Mog notice. Or Zoning into the MH, in a nation you got Rank 10 and moved on, would do the same thing.
For those that have finished all of them in the past, this would be additional recognition of their effort, and for those starting out, it would give them something besides lvl 90(99) to work towards.
The amount of MH expansions you get would depend entirely on you. If you are only interested in Gardening for example, you only would need to do the story line that gave you a "Green House" expansion.
I know they are already doing this with the synthetic Atma, but this would add incentive.
Hmmm... A strong idea! A noble one too! I like this idea! It even adds a bit of flavor to the house. Perhaps... Let me see if I can say this correctly.
Expansion "one" would be purely size of your home, maybe rooms. This would just be the Zilart missions for each Primary nation, Sandy Windy and Basty... Most higher level players have rank 10 in all nations (for what I can't imagine personally) but this would also give you reason to change nations, complete the missions, and expand your home.
Expansion "two" would be, Iunno, the CoP missions. At the end of which you split your rooms of your Moghouse into sections, each gaining it's own kupower from elements. Instead of one base bonus from your home, you gain multiples. Like super Kupowers out in the field.
Expansion "three" and "four" for the Aht Urghan and WotG escape me however... The balcony? The greenhouse idea? A basement level? Afraid it's difficult to say! I've never been rank 10 in any nation at all yet. Ideas? :3
Do keep in mind we need to make this as straight forwards as possible. Planning these expansions, quests, everything involved might put a choke hold on SE, or it might give them everything they need. It's a two-way street. Talking it out like this is good and all, but unless someone takes interest in SE (which they haven't for going on six years now or so since I first introduced the idea) then we're just walking in circles.
So if you know or see a mod floating around the forums, give them a poke and a link and get them to come here!
Once I get feedback on this post and a stronger idea I'll revise the summary again to reflect it. Keep up the good conversation!
EDIT: I might be gas-bagging, but the zilart missions ARE the nation missions correct, or am I shooting in the dark? If not then whatever, slip of the tongue.
ANY MODS SEEN THIS YET? D:
Thanks for the feedback! There are definitely a lot of cool ideas getting tossed around here. It would be rather difficult to expand our current mog houses, however, I will escalate this to the development team so they can look in to it.
If you have any other ideas on the subject, as always, please don’t hesitate to share!

SCORE!! ^^/ And again it's Camate with the coolness to take time out and be the messenger! Very cool of you Camate /salute
"Difficult" only equates to a challenge that can be overcome with determination, diligence and hard work! At least you didn't say "Impossible" :)
I agree. ^^ Impossible is for suckers.
So now we come to the next part of our synopsis. None of us probably know what the development team needs to do to make this a reality, but if they need a brainstorming team to handle the mess, we're here to support them!
I'm still working on a new synopsis and it may take me a bit... So please be patient!
(By the way, nice sig King)
this is amazing!!! I would be happy with being able to hang more stuff on my walls, but a whole house expansion....BRILLIANT!!

/hurray !! lol Don't forget to Edit the OP with your clean version of your proposal Wibbly so Folks can get the best 1st impression of what this concept has grown into ^^ Lets hope for good news from the Devs /crosses fingers
Thanks in regards to the sig ^^/
I for one would welcome an increase in moghouse size, at the moment my entire bank inventory is furniture 80/80 furniture. It's so cluttered with event furniture/other furniture that some of my friends that visit house, their computers lag to the amount of items it has to render.
I don't how hard it would be for SE, but my thought programming wise it shouldn't be that hard to just duplicate the moghouse for everyone.
For instance, you either talk to the moggle or the door to exit and there is another option, travel to floor/room 2, or 3, etc. In this way it is just the same mog house but 2 floors worth. You would only be able to view one floor/room at a time but would probably be possible under PS2 limiations since it is not altering the current moghouse in any way, just duplicating it, similar to how I suspect mog safe, satchel, and sack were added.
It would be the easy way out, rather than redesigning moghouse with doors that lead to other rooms, but at least it would increase the size of our moghouses to be able to display furniture.
I read this thread with interest. I think this is the coolest idea ever and I hope folks are still reading it. I got to thinking why not use the format of the homes already in the cities? Bastok has nice examples in Port Bastok East of Warehouse 1. For Sandy the two story homes in Lion Square. Windy well maybe Ginger berry Grove Near the Federal Magic Reserve. For windy Thou they would have to remove all the Clutter and replace that big Stove thing in the middle with the Moggle. Also move the supports from the Middle of the floor to allow room for items. On the other Hand, Maybe re-work the windy home a little to allow two seperate rooms. Or base Windy homes on one of the Nicer Npc manor homes.
Im glad there was some positive feedback from the dev's regarding a topic that is purely for fun and roleplaying.
Personally I would like more windows in my MH. It's a bit dark in there o_O...
If there were any way of doing this, it would be great!
As someone who's leveled a few jobs, I've never had room for furnature or showing stuff off. My Mog House has always been functional, and there's never enough space no matter how many satchels, bags, backpacks, purses, and fanny packs we get. It be nice to be able to have a "home" i can show off.
Dear SE, please immediately hire Wibbly to your Development team.
Dear Wibbly, this is by far and away THE single most innovative, well thought out, well presented idea I have ever seen.:) Thank you!
Do you think it would be possible to add a furnishing like an armchair that we could actually sit in instead of the bare floor? This would be for the final enhancement of course.

This is something I could get behind!
My mog house is much too small!
/like. I always thought it was stupid that we still had a small apartment after saving the world 3+ times. There just isn't enough room to put all our trinkets and furniture... I threw all my furniture away to get max gear storage :( (aside from that thing that gives ungodly storage, and w/e else to cap 80/80).
Well the added things section was mentioned by the players of the forum adding in their two cents...
To their credit, SE has tried to help us with our storage woes, satchel and sack, more gobby bag quests, etc. It's hard to give people storage for 20 jobs, all their extras, collectibles etc... But they are trying!
The added sections were for making the usage, efficiency, and space available for everything. When you have big stacks of books, you buy a book shelf. When you have a lot of potted plants, you get hanging planters, trough planters for several plants at once, or something similar to a bookshelf to put pots on top of one another.
I'm glad for the ideas, and they ARE good ideas, but seeing as this thread is specifically for the purpose of padding out an idea for making the moghouse bigger, that's the meat of the subject. Keeping people, and Dev team members, focused on one item in this thread.
The trouble encroaching us is this: How to make the time and effort to make us happy, worthwhile to SE and the Dev team who would likely work -very- hard on this.
That's why I think bringing back a payed service for old collectible furniture and cosmetic items, to fund a company picnic or day at an amusement park or something wouldn't be a poor idea. Then again they'd probably put that money into developing another 60 hour cutscene like FFXIII.... :P
All joking aside, all we need to do as players is figure out what we'd see as worthwhile, bounce it off the dev team how to make it worth their while, and coexist peacefully in the corniest way possible. It worked for things like Second Life, seeing as 90% of that entire system is created by the players rather than the creators. We'd just need to find a happy balance. We're all in this together right?
... Right? >.>
Best way to implement this would be to trade a bunch of fruit to a NPC raccoon until you have enough gil to pay off your debt. Then he'll expand your mog house and put you further into debt. Trade him more fruit and so on.
Don't forget to buy stuff from him with the money you're supposed to be using to pay off that debt, to cram into the thing that caused the debt in the first place, so he can upgrade to a department store and sell you more things you don't need, furthering that ever so elusive goal of completely paying off said debt.
Also, go visit his identical brothers that live in every single town in the world and own various versions of the same store who provide said services to other unlucky saps known as mankind. Don't forget your axe! Nothing says hello like ruining some one else's orchard! That they subsequently use to gather the fruit they need to sell to the raccoon to pay off the debt they continually get themselves, unavoidably, into.
Har har... e.e
(Security, we've got some trouble makers...)
What about having a roof in your MH that can serve as a dojo MMM style but with only one room and you will be sparring with a PC friend or your NPC fellow, you wont gain experience but can skillup!
