SE reps could at least have the courtesy to respond to members of their playerbase who will no longer be able to (or unwilling to jump through the hoops to) subscribe when their crysta runs out.
Even jumping through hoops (
- 2 conversations with SE support and an email ticket open with them
- 3 convos with my bank
- 2 convos with Global Collect
- going out and buying a prepaid visa specifically for this)
the best I was told to wait 30 days and try again, and just pray/hope that my CC works then. No word or reasoning as to why my CC was declined in the first place.
Seriously, do you guys not like having subscriptions or what? Can we get some sort of response somewhere to let us know if you're actually gonna fix this problem or if we should just stop wasting our time/effort >:(
Any notion that all this inconvenience is for my enhanced security, went out of the window during the Click&buy incident. I've been a customer at my Bank since 1988. I have always been in credit, never any problems relating to my own financial conduct. Except the time I tried to pay for FFXI with Click&buy, when I had to go down to the bank after they cancelled my cards because C&B was a "redflagged" security risk at my bank.
After that, and the numerous times Globalcollect has /kicked my in-credit bank account and valid Visa Debit cards, for no reasons at all, and the migraines I got during that process, every time I use the SE Account Manglement System I feel a sense of dread, like I shouldn't even be trying to use my perfectly good bank account. Its like I'm made to feel bad just because I'm trying to pay money for this game.
With Paypal / UGC, it was just click-click and a polite "Thankyou!" message and courteous email. I will miss those easy and pleasant Paypal / crysta payments.

Oh my.. don't even get me started on C&B.. dudes charged me ~130 bucks one day after a few attempts saying my cc was declined and the transaction didn't go through. Never got my money back (or the crysta I was ordering) and was scared to do a chargeback because of the nightmare banning it can cause. :/
Seriously, how hard is it to use a reputable and reliable source for transactions?
It just comes down to treating us like customers instead of potential scammers. Nobody wants to get their account LM-31ed doing chargebacks, a couple from people who quit is an acceptable risk. Other game companies aren't scared to accept credit cards directly. You're losing more money from people who are unable to pay than you're making by having globalcollect assume chargeback liability.
If someone has a valid credit card, charge the shit and activate the account. You don't need globalcollect, a company of your magnitude can handle payment processing.
I don't even get why SE removed the Playspan payment option completely. As far as i am aware Ultimate Points and Paypal are distinct things. So is PaySafeCard, which was what i used to do add crysta on my account. Considering i dont have a CC im pretty much screwed so tysm SE, another brilliant decision!
