[dev1189] New alter ego feedback

I was thinking about it today and not sure if someone else has mentioned this yet or not. With the Automatons eventually being added, personally, I'd like to see a synergistic alignment for trusts. Obviously using Nashmeira and her 2 Autos would go together, letting them use a special WS or Technique. You could do things like: (Zeid and Volker), (Ayame, Naji, and Iron Eater), (Mihli, Gadalar, Zazarg). If they add Romaa, then you could do another special combo. I'll leave it at that for those that haven't beaten WotG. Just a silly notion, but fun to think about.

While i agree resisting sleep could spell a very rough battle for you... he's no more impossible to beat if he resist sleep than Tojil is if you miss a stun on Lahar, all it takes is composure and not going to panic town.

The best strategy I've read up on, and the one i used, is simply running in ASAP to sleep him to prevent him from buffing himself, I used a poison potion incase he slept me too, which i recommend. If he resists the first sleep 2, you have 2 options, try Sleep I or Bind, or hit chainspell and Sleep 1 until it lands, buff yourself, and begin nuking. Chainspell lasts a solid 60 seconds, about 15 of it will be spent buffing yourself if you take this path (Phalanx, Stoneskin, Pro/Shell/Blink/Aquaviel are the most important). If you're properly geared he shouldn't resist sleep enough to cause you to fail.. Red HP? Maybe, land a debuff on you? Perhaps, get a nuke off? possibly... but to flat out game-over you if he resists? Nahuh.

Are the combinations of events that will lead you to fail? Of course, there are in every possible scenario in this game, nothing is 100% certain.

I admit he's one of the hardest of Maat fights, I don't believe it falls into blind luck any more than everything else in the game does due to the 95% hit cap. No one resist is going to spell the end of it unless you just flat out panic and start fumbling over yourself and make mistakes, you'd need multiple failures, multiple mistakes for it to be a complete lost cause and the fight to be over... which can be said for almost every single event in the game, though.

Maybe I was just cocky, but I lost the sch fight at 85 or 90. Couldn't get sleep to stick, and an early -ga spell wiped my stoneskin and shadows, and kept getting interupted whenever I tried to cast. It was rather embarassing to lose a fight when you are 15-20 levels higher than you need to be.

Right, that's well and good for jobs with cure, but I tried to actually fight him with thief, guess what happened to me? I used one potion (a reraise potion at that) and then that stupid icon popped up stating I couldn't use another for A WHOLE HOUR. Panic or not thief death happens in that scenario every time. Still don't quite understand why if he's a thief he still gets to use asuran fists the big cheater. Which is why I suggested trusts in the first place. There's absolutely no reason for them to restrict potion use for jobs with no cure and unless they fix that it's always going to be a stupid issue during maat fight. And like I said HE IS THE ONE who says that the job isn't about just leveling, heck the quest before it is about that very thing, five bucks those guys on the list will somehow be a part of trust.
AND he's the one that tells us to gang up on the tarutaru, shouldn't the little guy be able to do the same thing somehow? Ah I mean unless there is no way to actually beat him solo? Any1 did it solo?

Been thinking about something like the special group combo trait my self. Though in a same race type idea along with the from same town. Though I can't really think of many non mage taru.

Thief has a possible instant win with steal during the maat fight. And don't neglect another important aspect on thf. Status bolts. Good old friend to thf since before /dnc was an option for solo play. Bloody bolts to get some hp back. Can also use it when he pops perfect dodge since it won't protect against ranged attacks.

Maat fights were always designed for 1 on 1, and for some jobs they got even easier as time goes by. Pretty sure there were whm who didn't have repose in their arsenal to buy some time fighting maat. And sch didn't always have ss/blink on their main job.

But I totally get where you are coming from with Asuran Fists. He can do it on every job and it does hurt. (Never fought him at 70 myself. I had the pleasure of breaking 70 for the first time on blu)

See, and that's also another point, most who got their cap (and got nerve to brag about it) did so by squeaking by on white mage, thief, beastmaster or the like 1st then going and capping their skills and whatnot THEN challenging him and beating him down as the other jobs. It's obviously going to be easy (and get easier the higher you take your job) and so...really it doesn't REALLY matter if you choose to do it that way or bring trusts, they are (mostly) all earned from completing missions and quests and they could even "lock" out the ones you can get from the login campaign. And by the by I had missed (with my thief steal gear AND the rogue ring on) and decided to try so I did not actually have arrows or bolts on me. Does any1 know why they block potion use like that anyway? I mean really why take POTIONS of all things out of the strategy equation? :mad:

most potions don't give you a medicated effect - only a few do. You can use potions and other items for the fight, and they are important for many strategies. Just don't use the ones that medicate you. I think the medicated effect should be dropped personally. Most of the things it happens with are pretty stupid (like CHR potion - I remember I took one of those once, not knowing... hello regret)

AHA that's what it was, knew it was SOME stupid reason like that, but then why should reraise count as being medicated? It's just to put the reraise -ah it doesn't matter it's still a stupid rule.

Some Highlights from the 5th Freshly Picked Vana'Diel Report
New Trusts
In April, they will be adding Ovjang, Mnejing, and Sakura.
When Mnejing and Ovjang are called alongside Nashmeira, their abilities are increased. Ovhang gains enmity- and magic damage+, Mnejing gains def+ and enmity+.
Sakura does not participate in combat, however the player who called her will gain the effects of Regen and Combat Skill Increase Rate+. The Regen effect increases with increasing levels of the player. A different Trust will be added down the line to have the Magic Skill Increase Rate+ stat.

They added Trusts to missions in this last patch. Right now it's Rank missions, nothing from the expansions yet. They intend to gradually add more, and they have stated that Campaign zones are coming too.

The next Ciphers are synergistic. The automatons' effect is indeed boosted if Nashmiera is out, and Sakura can't fight, she just boosts your stats. Now this will be interesting in a party environment...
