do we really need lv.99 without New Areas ??

though I agree with the sentiment in that post, if you punish people for playing the ps2 client, I think they might be more likely to just quit than play on another platform.

Nevermind my usual conspiracy theory that it's FFXIV related, tacked on WotG as a final hooray because they were convinced that the vast majority of FFXI players would give up their years of work in favor of starting from scratch on a new game so they threw all of their eggs in one basket. Now it's kind of like, oooh, oh shit what do we do now. Hey you guys throw us back some of our 11 devs and- Oh you're just throwing 250 people on 14 to reboot it. Well, okay, we'll just keep doing lame add ons and small timer content for your flagship title. Thanks for the support, guys. We'll be sure to get Cam and company to relay our agony in the best possible tone and spin to our player base that's still paying 12.95+ a month(to do crap like GoV and I like GoV but it's crap compared to full blown expansions that we should be doing instead) for a game that's not being seriously expanded on to fund every game's development except ours, FFXI.
MMOs are not meant to be trust funds. They're meant to be long term games that you must expand on if you want to keep getting free millions of monies.

Pretty much the reason I stopped paying and playing.... sure there will be things to do at 99.... but only for so long... and it won't feel fresh with an old zone no one really liked in the first place, and renamed mobs. I WANT NEW AREAS!!! :(

I, for one, like voidwatch. I don't like how hard the drops are to obtain and sure it's not perfect, but that's how SE is gonna make their money... having us doing this crap for months, if not weeks at a time. Some one pointed out how the time limitation for older end game kept people around. But now most stuff is easily accessible that you can do stuff on your own time. Neo-dynamis, abyssea NM pops, void watch, even WoE (even though you're now waiting a whole game day instead of just the time it takes for monsters to respawn in a flux.) But it's easy to burn out on this stuff now.

But really, aside from another expansion, what would you have them do to keep people interested in playing the game? What will do you after you get the equipment and weapons you want within the week, if not within the month?

yes, to keep alive the game we need a new expansion with new areas, without something like this the lv.99 will be useless and it will made the things more easy to solo or duo...

Game is nearly 256 areas in size. And these "areas" are often enormous. Do not see how new areas would help. Tweak existing areas (changing some of the existing maps) is possible but I don't even think that's necessary. I somehow doubt you have done every quest in the game.

Going and visiting every one of the 250+ areas takes a HUGE amount of time. You could do it in a day... though I dunno about exploring every nook and cranny. That would take considerably longer.

Look bud... I remember getting a private /tell from a stranger asking for help with the Airship fight because he was on it and so was I, but he was in an endgame SEA link shell. A LS that strangely told him it was his job to complete it ON HIS OWN.

Obviously re-attempting a mission you'd already completed was too much for you... I know this from asking people for help who'd already done it. One friend told me took her three days to reach SEA and was NEVER EVER GOING TO DO IT AGAIN.

Tell me you help anyone obtain it again? Redo the missions? Or we're you like everyone else... "Hell no... it was a NIGHTMARE the first time... "

hmmm... maybe I can't understand what you mean and the sense of your post... basically, you say : go visit the same areas (8 years old) and redo the same missions... ok, but I don't think this is the way to keep "fresh" the game, don't you? I was thinking about a complete new continent, designed for liv.99 (and no re-visit the same old area with mobs "too weak"), and regarding the missions, I completed all the storyline and re-did a lot of missions for my ls friends, but I repeat: I don't think this is the point...
